  1. damm, these pcb´s look great. Even i just made my diploma as artist i have no creative idea what to do with these. I have some misroutet pcb´s which i etched, but they are just lying in a dirty box, and thats quite boring. All the best luck to your jdm boards, may they rest in peace. chriss

    Motorfader Bestellung

  3. Just wanted to tell you that i tested ableton live for my dj setup and it is so much better and nicer than traktor that my controller wil be designed for that. (just think about all the vst effects you can use) The best thing: Live has midiout, so moterfaders and encoders will be in my fadermixer. check it out if you want. www.ableton.com chriss
  8. I didn´try it, but this site and the app looks very promising. I like the aproach writing an app especially for older hardware. Very nice. And this huge manual rocks too. chriss
  9. Welcome in the mac world, Look at the Ucapps main page under "Code Upload via MIDI" and you will find http://www.snoize.com/SysExLibrarian/ which works quite well, not that good than Midiox though. The 12" Powerbook might still be the sexiest laptop in the world, goog choice. Yes Safari is fast. (i guess because a lot of servers are unix based) chriss
  11. I mean if i can backup them! Sometimes after i tried something knew with the hardware, the bankstick is formating itself and all the patches are gone. Today i did a little bit of testing and i guess the problem is my PC. Or better the usb port on my PC. Although uploading a code was never a topic. So i will stick to Sysex Librarien. At the moment it is a little bit complicated but it works. The Problem is that the application does not have a "send and receive" funktion. So i have to send the request first and then go to receive very fast. The first two or three patches get lost but thats ok. Maybe i contact snoize to implement this feature. Does anybody else know a app. for macs witch can send and receive sysex. Has anybody tried it with a Sequencer like Logic or Cubase? Just downloaded Sound Diver from Emagic but i guess this one only can handle comercial hardware! chriss
  12. i would change the library. its fast and save. if you change a package which is already used and you add the changed package to the board, eagle recognice that you have a new package and is updating the board, very handy. If you just need the package once i would definetly build a new package with copy and paste. My experiences chriss
  13. Hi Thorsten, sorry i didn´t make that clear enough but i tried that. i don´t know what happens here maybe it is the usb port of my old PC but it is not working with SysEx Librarian under OSX either. Here i got about 44k of sysex data but Jsynth is not able to read it with the SID driver, so i thought there were errors during backup. . i would if i could save them. And i would like to store maybe one bankstick in the box (without the stick). nice to have you here again. chriss
  14. Hi, i have still some trouble with Jsynth. Because Jsynth didn´t work on my Xp machine (the upload always made errors on the ArpSEQ patches) i waited until version 0.18 and know it works with my ibook and OSX but i can not backup the patches. The Syx. data is not readable. I also tried it with SysEx Librarian but there it seems that you need to send the data from the synth manualy. And i didn`t found any funktion in the SID application. So i went back to my XP machine and give Midiox a try (send and receive), but here it stops recording after 2000-5000 bytes. Changing the settings not really helped. And when trying Jsynth i can see in the command window that it only sends F0 00 00 7E 40 00 03 00 F7 when clicking on GET. I am still using the very satisfying USB module. Can anybody help me? I just want to change the Patches for the 8580 filter and save the whole bankstick. Btw. does the Sid support the 24LC512 eeprom or multiple eeproms already? thanks. chriss
  16. hi trav, Don´t think so, you only get the pcb´s. But just PM him to be sure. I can just tell you my experiences. I builded quite a lot analog synths before and after some ususal troubleshooting the SID also worked. The hardest thing was the JDM, PERL and MPLAP and all the Midistuff. But with some patience you will figure out. You get the Eeprom and the Pic at www.microchip.com as free samples. Don´t know about the LCD because sometimes they have other controllers than supportet (maybe someone else can give advice here), but a standard LCD from a decent supplier will work. Look here: http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp_lcd.html Read the main page as often as you can. I am sure all your questions will be answered. The Ucapps stuff is like an adventure game. Have fun. chriss
  17. Hi wise, thats a great design!! I can´t help you with the middle section cause i can´t see the problems. Maybe your are a little bit specific. I always wanted to do something similar but feared the complexity of traktor. One thing i would definitely consider is the use of encoders and moterfaders. Since it is a lot of work to assemble a thing like that it might be worth the extra price. And potis are limiting to much (traktor is so cool because of its automation). chriss
  18. Hi all, just wanted to start this little topic, cause i am going to purchase Logic Express in a few days. I suspect that 99,9 percent of this forum users are on the PC side (i don´t want to talk about which OS is better) and we all know that Emagic belongs to mac now (no support for PC´s). Since i am a lucky G4 owner, i was asking myself what you guys are planning to do in the future? Is there a linux sequencer with all the funktions of Logic in the drawer? Or is Cubase a alternative? Is the Logic enviroment (one of the reasons i will stick to that app.) exchangeabel? I have an old AMD PII laptop for Midiox,Mplap,Eagle,Picburn, but like to do audio stuff on the mac, which works really well. What´s your opinion? chriss
  19. Hi perplx Since powersupplys are a little bit strange when you have no idea of electronics (at least i hade the feeling when i started), i would just calculate a little bit more time than you would expect. But you will need them if want continue DIYing Yes and no. They run at different Voltages but there is no transformer on the PCB´s, there is a bridge rectifier and a voltageregulator on the PCB´s. The bridge rectifier is for getting a DC voltage out of a AC voltage (eg. transformer) and the voltage regulator, as the name indicates, sets the voltage to a certain point. So as the core needs 5 volt there is a 5 volt regulator on it. SID board 12 volt (6581) or 9 volt (8580). The SID board also needs 5 volt which is established trough the connection between core and SID board. If you build a SID synthesizer with a 6581 chip i would take a 15-18 volt wall-mart AC or DC powersupply for the SID board and a 7-9 volt AC or DC powersupply for the core. Or you take a little bigger (more ampere) 15-18 volt AC or DC powersupply, take the regulated 12 volt from the SID board (after the voltage regulator of course), put them into an other 9 volt regulator (on a little veroboard) and then to the core. I did the first method and it works quite well. But the second is also good. One thing i don´t know is which method has lower noise. Maybe because thats why Thorsten developed his C64 supply adaption. Here you are always save. And you can learn the perfect ground managment on Thorsten´s C64 powersupply. Hope that helps Hey and folks please correct me when i talk nonsense here chriss
  20. I would go for multiturn trimmer´s (spectrol), just in case you need very accurate cv´s. chriss
Chriss

  23. I have a LCD 2x20 from display-elektronik, green with light. Benchmark result: 3000 x 8 x 100nS = 2.40mS chriss
  24. I got two and they sound perfect, and with this new firmware it is a lot of fun. Both worked fine. What are you doing with ten? chriss
  25. hello, first i want to report that it sounds awesome. The new ENV. possibilities are unbelievably. Thanks for this wonderfull toy. One thing i recognized in v1.5c but never asked, the names for the CC´s in the WT are not displayed anymore! chriss
