  1. Tagging tips: pots resistor convert circuit Probably are all bad. pots = no need for plurals. I changed it to 'pot'. resistor = not very specific. Everything uses them. Left it there anyway. convert = too ambiguous. Gone. circuit = too ambiguous. Gone. I added parallel. Probably also a bit ambiguous. I don't know if this post even needs these tags as it is not really linking up with any other info and the tag words are nothing that you couldn't find with the search engine. No soup for you! ;D
  2. It's not just the annoyingly bright thing, it's that they also emit invisible wavelengths which are unhealthy for your eyes.
  3. The futurlec pots have a split and might work with a collet, but that's not really the idea. That split is just to keep pressure on the slip-on knobs, so they're nice and tight. Also helps with 6mm vs 1/4inch sizing. I'd thought about doing a carbon fibre panel, was talking with Wilba about it recently... Please keep us posted :)
  4. Yes. We've all been grabbing some from pollin.de. cheap transformer for bipolar PSUs at pollin.de But they'd need a slightly different schematic to NLX's. You already seem to be looing for the right thing, so you can probably ignore that. Correct. I can tell from your post! :) thank you! You're on the right track, so don't sweat it. You can go for a transformer that has a higher rating than 50VA, so if you find like 60VA that'll do fine, for example.... Sorry I'm down under but maybe another yank can help you find a good trafo?
  5. On the HD44780 wiki page you will find a search string I made, which searches ebay for all HD44780 LCD's and all of the known compatible chipsets too. Edit: oh, and the PLEDs seem to not like to work in 4-bit mode. You shoud be aware of this and run a search to find Wilba's workaround for this problem (a custom driver)
  6. Said it before, ad I'll say it again... Meet Mr. Nice Guy.
  7. You might want them as pullups if it's being used as a DIN too.... Sorry, OT, but just trying to be informative :)
  8. Uhm sure does.... this isn't adding up... At least for me. But I'm crazy so maybe you can explain :) 1) DIN pins have nothing to do with the LCD 2) Why are you surprised that a 'fried' LCD didn't test correctly? 3) Why are you surprised that a new LCD works fine? 4) How are, the test results of a fried LCD, and the actual performance of a new LCD, related? 5) How do you know it was fried?
  9. I just noticed the PCB's are available on the wiki page now too. I was not the only one with a question mark next to my name there, so if you added your name for chips, but not PCB's you might want to get on that! </friendly reminder>
  10. I wanted to correct that, but I can't find it. Where's that? All I can find is this: "It consists of a 2x20 LCD" below a pic with 5 items, and later on, this: "Alternatively a 2x16 LCD can be used (of costs do matter). This is no optimal solution, as the main page won't be displayed completely anymore. Within menu pages only 4 instead of 5 parameters are visible the same time (page has to be scrolled to see the remaining parameters of the same page)." That's from the control surface page.
  11. I'm afraid I don't have MP3's, but yes, the difference is quite substantial. The 6581 tends to be a lot more lo-fi and mushy and such.
  12. I'm starting to think that you got your nickname from how much reading you do before you post ;D
  13. OK back again (for now).... What you're talking about doing now, is really a totally different kettle of fish to what you started talking about. Initially, you wanted to configure an offset before sending an event. Now, you will have to keep a queue of the events which are currently 'active', and then stop them all, apply the shift, and start them again. Really, it's a totally different thing, and maybe even better suited to a completely different application, as it will require significant mods to MB64's note sending functions.
  14. Sorry Xenon, but you don't seem to be reading my posts, so I won't continue to assist you here.
  15. Don't worry, I was advancing the written form of said language, by "vandalizing" (beautifying) the public property with a spraycan. Me too! Hang in there guys... It'll be back before long :)
  16. Grab the clockbox sync code and strap it into mmd_clock.inc Piece of cake (yeh right) Maybe for you guys it might even be easier to recreate the app in C? I doubt that the seq has enough resources to build this into the same core...
  17. They're not that pricey really... They don't compare to the: el-cheapo / only available in one size and colour from a surplus store / strange backlight voltages / stryd doesn't like these type LCDs... But when compared to other high-end, nice looking LCD's, and COG (chip on glass) displays, they're really cheap!
  18. Then build a compander, and play your 8b samples through it. Not really... Just clone/copy/emulate the output stages. Then you can have =that= sound from all your gear ;)
  19. Looks like the <code> tag (code2 plugin) is broken too. Some pages (nearly all) show nothing where the code should be. I've found that editing the page and then saving it fixes it. Sometimes you need to make a change, sometimes not (you just hit edit and hit save, and it's fixed). Some pages are completely uneffected. Some, the highlighting is screwey but the text is still there. Weird. I'll let you know if I find out more, but if you are reading the wiki, and find nothing where it suggests there should be code, hit 'Edit this page' to read the code... admins: Is there a way that you can get me a list of all the pages with <code> in the source? That way I can fix this up manually... Otherwise I need to manually view the source of every page :( That's not really do-able...
  20. Hey dude sorry to disappear - family stuff... I'll reply soon :)
  21. Yes, but the alignment of the images within them is fixed :D Twinny is in the midst of performing some upgrades, to fix the bugs I found earlier. I guess this is related to the upgrade, but he's still working on it, so I imagine it'll be all sorted before long.
  22. MEC will do custom runs only, of what they call the 'quiet' variant. These are tacts, with the same specs as the normal 3F's so they have all the benefits of normal tacts, but unlike normal tacts, they don't click. They're especially intended for use in pro audio gear. I have samples of the quiet switches here, and they are f(*&#$ lovely. Some of you will be aware that I've been searching for a good switch for some years now, and these are the first I've been really happy with. I think that says something about them. I'll be doing a bulk order of the switches and a few kinds of caps (including a couple which can also only be had as a custom run) soon. Just waiting on pricing.
