"I wish I had a tact with a longer actuator" solution
Rowan replied to Altitude's topic in Tips & Tricks
Very nice! -
You can buy these on eBay from China in small quantities, just search for "2.54 jumper" and you'll find them. I use these type of cables all the time now. What I do is buy the cables with the single pin sockets at various lengths and I have a selection of common sized plug housings I.e. 1x2, 2x5, 2x8 etc, and I remove the single pin housing that Come already fitted and fit the housing I need. It's so much easier than having to crimp wires every time you need to connect something. They also make testing out wiring much easier.

Has any progress been made on these suggestions, in periticular implementing the Mutable Instruments Grids algorithm? I've recently bought a MI Grids and I think it would be an amazing addition to the MBSEQ. Being able to use Grids functionality over MIDI would be really useful. Anyway, I just hope that these proposals are still being worked on

You can buy the PCB and panel directly from CGS, it's only $10 a set and the only other parts you need to buy are the 16 way headers and mini jack sockets. Each module cost me about $15 to build, I really can recommend them highly enough. They can also be used as mulits which adds to their versiltlity.

Today I mounted an AOUT_NG and DOUTX4 into the back of my Eurorack case. These are connected to a MB Line Driver (receiver) module. All the connections are broken out on o the front panel with 3 X Cat Girl Synth CGS-93 Trunk modules. Now I've got a single cable connection between my MBSEQ and modular system and its working really well. This setup is giving me 8 channels of CVs, 8 gates and 8 Clocks. I still have the ability to add a further 16 gates easily if I need to in the future.

I've bought these connectors from this seller before and the fit the 4 x IIC PCB perfectly.

I'm in to this. I think having a jumper to isolate the 5v remote supply coming from the DB25 cable would be good assuming the module is powered by a 16 pin header with a 5v line.
-
Thanks for the tip on the cable, that will be very useful! I've ordered one. Ive got a feeling I'm going to end up down the DIY modular rabbit hole so it will get plenty of use.

I've ordered a Rigol 1054z. It cost £282 inc shipping. I managed to calibrate my Yocto 808 without a scope but I've just about finished TTSH and that will definitely require a scope to get running properly.

Yes it is possible. Just make sure that there IS NOT a jumper fitted at J17 on the Core PCB. This jumper connects USB bus power to the 5V power input on the core. If you have the jumper fitted , connected a 5V external supply and USB you will end up with two power supplies and may case damage to sometgong.

The end game would be to have a modulation matrix where the CV ins are the modulation sources and parameters of the MBSEQ are the destinations. I don't want to get to in depth with ideas unless the basic hardware required to achieve this will work.

I'm starting on the slippery slope that is DIY Modular Synths as I've built all the stand alone DIY synth/seq projects I'm interested in. This has lead me to spend numerous hours discovering what is out there in DIY modular land and I have come to the conclusion that the MBSEQ can already do a lot of the cool stuff...... And it's pretty modular friendly with gate and CV outs but the one thing it's missing is CV in's! Conceptually, could support for the AIN module be added to provide the necessary hardware?

Assuming you are just wanting to use the MD preset I uploaded all you need to do is copy the file into the the PRESET directory on the SD card. Take the SD card out of the MBSEQ, connect it to your computer, unzip the file you downloaded and copy the file across to the SD card's PRESET directory and you should be in business. I'm unsure about the MIDI and SYSEX directory as I haven't came across these before. I'm pretty sure that you could just use a computer to create these directories.

I tried this last night, and I noticed what may be an issue. When the the "Global" field is selected causing it to blink the contents of the righthand display also blinks. This doesn't happen when any of the other fields are selected on the lefthand display.

Use the MIOS file browser in MIOS studio to copy the unzipped file to the PRESET directory in the root of the SD card. or you could just connect the SD card to your computer and copy the unzipped file to the PRESET.

Full 16x16+X BLM with silicone buttons, matching case. Interested?

I have never had any extra brokerage fee's from Mouser when ordering, it has all been built into the final price at the checkout. The basket price is ex VAT, so there is an extra 20% (in the UK) to factor in but that's fine as long as you know about it. -

You've got to love buying from Mouser, the last order I placed with them about a month ago had over 1000 components on it. I ordered on a Tuesday evening and it was delivered from the U.S. to the UK by Friday morning with free shipping and no import taxes! -
I've attached my MBSEQ preset for the MD. Im pretty sure I stuck with the default mapping in the MD. Go to the Edit menu (Menu+GP2), then GP15 to get to the Preset menu. The preset is called "MDRUMMKII". You'll need to change the MIDI out port to the port your MD is connected to. Set the Base Channel on your MD to 1-4 MDRUMMK2.v4t.zip

This looks good to me! -
Altitude, I respect your option. So your input is welcome. The Rigol DS1054z is looking like a contender, what are your thoughts?

Ok, could both the holes be on the left side of the DIN cutout? Having one to the right looks like fitting a switch/socket could be a little bit tight in some cases. If the fitted hardware was to require a 10mm hole for example, the bezel would probably require an extra few mm. -

Can I request that the polit holes have their centre in line with the centre of the larger hole (which I guess is for the DIN connector) on the vertical plane? -

How about you keep it really simple and add two holes approx 3mm in diameter spaced approx 30mm apart on the rear that can be used as pilot holes so the owner can drill their own holes for a power switch and connector if they want? This would work for me anyway. -

I think it would be a very good idea to add an extranal power option to the case, maybe two holes the same size as the hole on the MBSEQ back panel for a DC socket and switch. I would like to have the option to use an extranal PSU.
