  1. Hmm too many things replaced to find the cause... Glad that it sorta works now though ;-)
  2. Forumsuche? Google? Erster Hit: http://www.ladyada.net/make/x0xb0x/
  3. If you measure 13VDC across the - and + pins of the rectifier that hints towards a working psu. The error seems to be after that. J1A should be what it says on the pcb/in the pdf: 9VAC on Pins 1 and 4 and 5VDC on Pins 2+3

Hehe, "Seek and you will find" or the likes.
  5. Yes. 1st idea: Mention what pcb it is. It's your mb6582 I assume? * Without J71 or J72 plugged in the voltage shouldn't go anywhere - I'd leave them unplugged for testing ;-) The vreg needs some minimal load, so you probably should make a little LED+resistor test thingie and hook it up to J71/J72 (basically across ground and the +9V output of V1) * Is the vreg plugged in the right way around? * Are C1 and C11 soldered the right way around? If all of the above is true, and you still don't get any voltage at the output of V1 go check for shorts again. If that doesn't solve it you have some major oddness.
  6. Even without putting too much thought into the whole thing or knowing anything about electronics I think it's fair to say that the parts and values used in the sid and core module have been tested and found to be working in a couple thousand cases. If they don't work for you - you've got a problem somewhere. Try finding and fixing the root of that problem (get two decent PSUs for starters) instead of going with some odd workaround.
  7. Check your other thread, I linked you to the toolchain setup documents :-)
  8. Welcome aboard! mbSID kicks the shit out of a SIDstation ;-) That must have been incredibly noisey. I've tried some really really crappy and extremely noisey PSUs but never managed to actually get the core to reboot because of that. Just me being picky: you uploaded MIOS to the core ;-) So far there's tons of possible reasons for that. Not really. There is a tendency for sid chips to die, especially single oscillators or filters, usually not the entire chip. Yes. Do that. Run the test and see if the data gets there correctly. Also measure all voltages (8580 runs on different voltage than the 6581) and check all wiring. I'll be on the lookout for that thread, but since I'm already at it: http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=windows_toolchain_core http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=windows_toolchain_quickstart
  9. Donating blood good. I do that too. Painless, fast and still helpful.
  10. Hehe, no, actually Wilba gets to bitch and whine as much as he wants to, since he's a vital part of operation gm5x5x5 ;-)
  11. Connection to a pc is only necessary to upload a new application. You guys might be care to check this out too: http://www.openstomp.com/ Or get the propeller starter kit for $99: http://www.parallax.com/Store/Microcontrollers/PropellerProgrammingKits/tabid/144/ProductID/382/List/1/Default.aspx?SortField=ProductName,ProductName
  12. You mean steps. Not bits. +1 What nebula said.
  13. Paste the error message...
  14. I've got a question: I've got a 6581 with broken filters - can I just buy some filters for that one? I really don't need a full chip. Thanks!
  15. Um, yeah that's a crucial part of being shipped out ;-)
  16. UPDATE: The prototypes are being shipped out atm, once they're tested I will set a deadline after which I will not accept any more orders. This should happen within the next couple of weeks.
  17. SLP: Are you trying to turn this is turning into a "who's got the longest"-competition? See the first reply in this thread? It's got the answer in it ;-)
  18. Obviously your SID module is fukt. Check for bad soldering and wrong parts.
  19. I said it first ;-)
  20. Nun ja, wenn alle MIDI Tests klappen *muss* der Upload eigentlich auch gehen. Irgendwas ist das also ganz eigenartig. Ich würd sagen der Platine einmal ordentlich drohen und dann nochmal versuchen.
  21. * Do you have a display? If so, what does it say? * Is the J14 connection definitely there? * What firmware did you upload? * Did you test the individual sid modules? If not, do so. * Did you swap the sid modules? If not, do so.
