Ich hab ein paar von den pollin Dingern, sind ganz nett, allerdings (sollte das wem noch nicht klar sein) passt da kein Standardknopf drauf und schick sind die nicht gerade. Außerdem sind die detents recht rigoros und der encoder ist daher recht schwer zu drehen.

I've found cheap switching PSU used *before* the regulators to still be quite noisy. You might get lucky though. Definitely worth a try.

No need to apologize, that's what we're here for ;-) The oscillator is wrong indeed. You'll rather want this one. And I'm not sure you want an SMT packaged PCM1754. IIRC all the layouts that I've seen in this thread use a TDA1754 in DIP8 package.

Sorta. Changing the capcitance changes the filter's behaviour. There's lotsa material on DC filtering on the net, makes for a nice reading evening ;)

I personally don't see the point as pots and buttons are handled by DINs/AINs so nicely that hacking that into the pokey - which *will* lead to a *lot* of extra work - is extremely pointless.

Correct, each unit needs its own usb port on the computer. Don't get smithy started about anything ;-) edit: By "USB port" I mean a USB socket 'somewhere' as in "the gm5x5x5 module does NOT come with a built-in USB-thru or USB-hub"

If the question is "does that board come with an integrated USB hub or something similar that lets you hook up another gm5 board to it" the answer is no. If that's not what you're asking: I don't get the question ;-)

I am pretty sure stryd was referring to the IIC board without anything connected to it. In that case the resistance should be infinite (not "no resistance"). When connected to the Core ~2k is correct since both traces have a 1k pullup on the core. Did you add the second 1k pullup on the core as described http://ucapps.de/mbhp_iic_midi.html (Sencond image under "Configuration and Interconnections") If you have the resistor in place your total resistance should be ~1500 Ohms (1k in series with 2x 1k in parallel).

asafnetzer: Not for this 5x5 version no.

As pointed out by bugfight already piggy-backing the two boards is a nice idea but comes with several disadvantages (added real-estate, higher board price) and doesn't really have any advantages as the parts count is nearly identical. That's why I have decided against a piggy-back version. Updates: * no more piggy-backing, the board is now fully stuffed with everything that's on the small gm5 board (which you don't need for this apparently) * added 74HC14 inverters to add LED support for each MIDI In and Out * updated screenshot is in the first post. * board size is roughly 23cm*5cm (8.8"x2.0" for the metric impaired)
