You have downloaded something like MIOSStudio_beta4_4.zip, right? Just rename it to MIOSStudio_beta4_4.jar and doubleclick it. I don`t know why Windows XP seems to take .jar files as .zip files ???

USB is a point-to point design, not a bus. So you need a USB hub integrated in your box to run multiple MBUSB interfaces with only one USB connection to your computer. Concerning the parallel interface: I don't know any DIY design. Parallel ports are already disappearing (most laptops don't have one and even on some new mainboards they are left out :() So I don`t know if someone will do a new disign for it. In addition you would have to write your own driver for W2K and XP which is not so easy. So I think you're out of luck with this. Raphael

Hi George, Jack wanted to integrate 4 MBUSB interfaces and a USB hub in one case. In addition he wanted to integrate a core with a serial port and a midi monitor. The hole discussion was about how to get the data for the midi monitor from the different channels so you can see all messages from all channels on the 32 nokia LCDs. Jidis wanted to get them directely from each AN2131 via the I2C bus (J3 on the MUSB). Thorsten pointed to the problem, that the free KEIL compiler only supports up to 4k binarys which is already used by the MBUSB firmware (the AN2131 itsself supports 8k). Jack wanted to try it anyway. Perhaps you can sen him a PM if he was successful? (In his first post Jack mentioned a serial interface but it was nor part of the discussion) Raphael

Ich meinte, dass das Display während dem Aufbau der MB sehr nützlich sein kann zum Debuggen. Einbauen musst Du es später nicht. Wenn Du eines einbauen willst, dann brauchst auch nur ein Display. Den rest kannst du mit dem ersten core steuern. Lies dir nochmal die Seite zum MBLink durch. Die letzte Grafik zeigt so ein Setup. Leis Dir mal die Beschreibung der MB64e durch. Die AIN-Eingänge sind auf die Encoder 64-127 gemapped. Die Encoder liegen auf 0-63 und die LED-Ringe sind normalerweise auch auf 0-63 gemapped. Wie viel Aufwand es ist, dies zu ändern, kann dir wohl nur Thorsten sagen ohne lange in den Code zu schauen. Raphael

No, the TL072 is a OPAMP. The input voltage of such amps must never exceed the supply voltage! The D/A ladder will deliver up to 5V which would be the absolute maximum allowed. You will at least get heavy distortion on the outputs. Raphael

Nein, die Cores verbindest du mit MBLINK (http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_link.html) Cores 1 und 2 als FP konfigurieren, den dritten als EP (End Point). Kommt drauf an was Du machen willst. Wenn Du nur ein Setup hast, kannst du auch darauf verzichten. Zum debuggen würde ich aber doch eines empfehlen. Falls Doch, brauchst Du 4 Menü-Tasten (Links, Rechts, Exec, Snapshot). Raphael

Extending the cable length between core and DOUT and in between the DOUTs is no good idea! There are high frequency signals on these cables and with loger cables data transmission will become unstable. So please only extend the outputs themselfes.

Grounding pin 1 (MCLR) should not kill a PIC but just do a reset. Maybe you`ve done something else? Is the core module OK? Have you ever received the upload request or was it during the first test?

You will have to reconfigure the PIC. Take a closer look inside the PIC18F452 datasheet. This will need some programming knowledge form your side.... TIP: ADCON1 is used to selcect which pins of port A are used for digital I/O and which for analog in. As far as I see in lc_buttons_inc are not filtered: The handling of the special purpose buttons are handled in lc_sfb.inc. Thre you can see how to filter 0->1 transitions. Just return if MIOS_PARAMETER2 is 0 ;)

Right, each 8 motorfaders need one core (due to the required computing power ;D) From the MIDIOX point of view this would be no problem, but the Mackie Control (LC) protocol requires one connection per 8 channels! Am meisten Zeit geht bei mir immer für das Gehäuse drauf. Pläne sollten also schon vorher fertig sein. Wenn Du nur 3 Wochen hast, denke bitte daran, dass der Bootloader auf den PIC muss! Den PIC-Brenner würde ich mir also vorab schon mal bauen (nicht den JDM, da der recht zickig ist ;)). Oder Du bestellst Di PICs gleich mit Bootloader (Ob das bei einer LAP zulässig ist?). Wenn Du sie bestellst, dann lieber gleich einen mehr. So ein PIC kann sterben (sehr selten). Aber wenn's passiert, wirst Du Zeitprobleme mit der Ersatzbeschaffung bekommen. Nur so aus Interesse: Was lernt man so als Automatiker? SPS-Programmierung? Feldbusse? Raphael
