  1. Sure, but not all the people around are responsible so I thought it would be easier for all to avoid this problem. I dont think it is not political but some might not agree with me. That is why I asked everybody what they think, not just administrator. Maybe there should be poll about it?
  2. I noticed forum members from time to time tend to change their forum nickname, some do it multiple times, which leads to confusion. In some cases it is important to know who you talking to, especially in cases like bulk orders. In other hand I feel I know most of people from the forum pretty much and if one change the name he becomes anonymous. I personally think changing nickname should be allowed only to administrators. If member wish to change it for a reason (not just... I like new one better) he should ask administrator to do it for him. I also think the field "Personal Text:" should say "user changed his name from xxxx" I don`t believe we need to hide from somebody here and feel changing names makes not much sense. It makes sense if it is hard to remember, if it looks like code or it is too long, hard to pronounce... I changed my nickname long time ago too. At first it was my full name (Sasha Djuric) and I cut it short to just first name Sasha as no Sasha was around and as it is very common name in Serbia it is very uncommon name worldwide. I also kept my characteristic avatar so people didn`t probably notices I shorten it. What you you think?
  3. That is nice to hear. I need to start writhing down my "to be build" list. I starting to lose myself in all those projects I`m working on, the ones I need to start soon and the ones I didn`t started yet but MUST be built like this BLM trigger. Need to "lock" building order and priorities If I want to finish something soon. :P
  4. Sure I know your placement on panel but I thought you will cut the sparkfun`s PCBs. I would do that. Sure, you wan`t have all the connecting pads, but could be improvised. Self made PCB contacts oxidate if you don`t coat it somehow. I would never try to make anything like that myself and think it one of those things that really needs to be industrial grade not DIY. Or maybe I`m wrong.
  5. I don`t agree quite right. Take for instance big names as DJ Sasha or Richie Hawtin. Laptop DJing is not just for the room DJs. We all know DJing is going to be all digital. The records in clubs will die, because they are pretty much limited. You cannot manipulate them as good as you can do with tools like Ableton Live or something similar. People will appreciate much more DJs that will play them tracks that they never heard of, and they can do it easily by manipulating the tracks new way. I really love vinyls but it`s tracks are hard to cut and reorganize. ::) Plain DJing will slowly but surely die and performing oriented DJ will take it`s place. Thanks audioworld. I`ll surely check it. ;)
  6. No, I didn`t know that. :-[ I also didn`t know Ableton opened Live. Do you have some usefull link to shorten my search time. It really makes me happy to know things are rolling that way. I`m not into programming at all, but it is good to know there is a chance one day we can control all the parameters we always wanted and we could maybe to forget about computer and do everything as from controller as Robert Henge does now. And even much more. I really blame Ableton they still didn`t include all necessary MIDI mapping. If Live is great DJ tool as it really is, why there still no option to browse the and cue tracks/clips in the browser and easily add the sellected track to the last selected sloth in live? That is one of the meny questions I would like to ask Abletons. I`m really big fan of Live, but there are few crucial things that need to be taken care of. I hope they will pay more attention on their users wishlist.
  7. @drsyncenstein Can you navigate/focus on certain area with MIDI comands like LC or you have to do it with mouse? Can you post controls MIDI mapping somewhere please? @DavidBanner I was intrigued with Pythonn as I never heard of it and tried to find some info. Here is what I`ve find... Registered : 2004-07-06 03:01 Development Status : 2 - Pre-Alpha Public Forums : (2 messages in 2 forums) Mailing Lists : (1 total) Is that the Python you are talking about? http://pythonmidi.sourceforge.net/ http://sourceforge.net/projects/pythonmidi/ I would like to improve my controller design based on something that exists so I dont see how Phyton fits at all. But thank you anyway.
  8. I feel sorry for you but it is funny how you describe the PCB. ;D ;D ;DI didn`t understand you quite right, but did you fail with your PCB`s or sparkfun`s. Didn`t looked like much difficult to me. What was the problem about it?
  9. We are all in same soup. ;) Hope the PCB company respect deadline.
  10. Thank you both. It sounds even better now with that free shipping over 80 €! Very, very nice find. :)
  11. xarolium, that is great source! Thanks man! The prices are pretty low compared to any European source I managed to find. Do you know do they ship only to France? I don`t speak French :-[
  12. Thank you Thorsten! That was fast.
  13. As TK made BLM example I wonder what is happening with this project?
  14. You can place button/LED matrix in any order you like on your front panel but the wiring must remain the same for any configuration.
  15. If you save the clip status in bank and switch to layer 2 it can happen that some of the clips in live change their status (stop after it finish if they are not looping) so in that case you want have real current clip status. Saving status into bank is more like a dirty solution. At the end, it mostly depends of how one work with Live. To me the goal would be to get real clip status.
  16. Live can send MIDI feedback for clips when triggered but Live wan`t send all clip status feedback of layer 1 if you switch to layer 2 and again back to layer 1.
  17. That is great to hear Thorsten. :) I really like the monome-like design that Podewski did. Would it be much extra work to add those LED displays for group/layer?
  18. Glennv, can you please explain your idea with layer switching in Live with more details. If button/LED column represent one channel in Ableton Live, in each column you can activate only one clip so if you switch the layer and activate another clip in same column Live automatically deactivate the clip that you have triggered in the first layer as only one clip can play in one column (channel) at the time. I am personally very inspired with Monodeck II clip triggering concept as it receives sloth status from Live (empty/have clip/playing/stopped) I couldn`t dug an information how the sloth status feedback is realized. I know Robert is using it with Max MSP but don`t know anything else. For the ones that dont know, Monodeck concept is so great... there is button/LED matrix for every song. Every song is another layer, probably just MIDI channel is different for every song. Every button in matrix has RGB LED which lits different regarding the slot/clip status which is so great as you don`t have to look at monitor AT ALL! That`s my dream come true... having a gig without "checking an email" on laptop!!! What is totally crazy is that LED somehow indicate which sloth have clip and which sloth is empty ??? Does anybody have a clue how it is realized? It would be so great if we can use just one controller on stage. That is why Robert Henke say that Monodeck is performing instrument rather than MIDI controller, but as he works for Ableton he might have some custom Live that sends sloth/clip status to his beloved Monodeck :-\ However... I would still like to build button/duo LED matrix trigger that can send just notes on/off So would be thankfull as TK or somebody can do some code modification for that. I believe it is not alot of work as it exists as SEQ
  19. I`m quite interested in this project myself as I`m in final designing phase of my Ableton Live controller based on one Mackie protocol. I`m not sure what are benefits of Remote SL compared to Mackie so if somebody have better picture of integration of those 2 I would be glad to hear more info. I`m pretty satisfied with my LC emulation on 2x MB64E platform but there is always some room for improvements until building begin.
  20. Well, I guess TK rather spend time developing cool toys for us than organizing the parties but still, some MB gathering would be nice to happen. I`m planing something similar locally for a long time but more like DIY music gathering than specifically MB.
  21. Thank you for reply John. Enjoy your box and parties! ;)
  22. Hey John, nice box! Do you have all the buttons illuminated all the time? That is the card I wanted to integrate into Live controller I`m building. :) Maya 44 is fairly priced and very compact. Why do you think it is better you used Firewire card? Because of Mac you own or some other reason? I also wanted to use 2 short sliders for sends on my controller. They are much easier to operate quickly than rotaries but as they eat more space so I still thinking should I use it. 30mm sliders seams prety hard to find. Where did you buy yours?
  23. I`m quite sure now the length of cable is not a problem.
  24. mc4, this page could be of interest to you. http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php?topic=8450.0 I could help you with these.
  25. Thorsten, here is the info you need. I expected I`ll see the midimate on the list, but it appears as the "USB Composite Device" ??? The first time I connected the interface to the computer XP recognized it is midimate and it initialized it properly so It is strange it is not appears as the midimate. I`ll download and install the drivers and will check if there is any difference. Just ask if there is anything else I can do.
