temporary return from midibox retirement.. i will come back soon.. but too busy right now doing other stuff.. however right now i have a little project where i want to ultimately drive 2 strobos with midi and i thought i could build it with midibox.. without realizing that i have been absent from the community for about 4 or 5 years.. luckily i still have a core_r3 lying around.. but my knowledge is dated and rusty.. and i have a specific deadline of a week.. yeah im insane.. but i think i can, i think i can, i think i can... *yeah, just keep repeating that.. that'll work* so, i did a quick search.. and i know i've kinda asked it before (but with leds the other time) is there a way to drive a relay without using a dout.. i just need to switch a signal from low to high, whenever a specific note comes in.. i dont have a DOUT lying around.. so i kinda wanna make it work without harvesting it from my already built gear.. i guess i just need 4V from a digital out pin somewhere, but last time i checked (5 years ago) there is no option in MIOS to drive a digital pin directly.. anyone an idea?

good point dude, right now i'm pretty busy with other stuff. just attended the ICMC08(international computer music conference) and june next year im going to NIME(new interfaces for musical expression).. i'm trying to get my life online.. cuz right now i'm stuck in a dead end job, which bears no relation to my actual working field(??) which is sound composition and studio technology.. i'm trying to get ahead in those fields, and thats why i've retired from midibox for a while.. when i get the parts for my sid v2 from smashtv (its taking an awfully long time btw) ill get going again.. so until then.. i've got the MB_FM parts lying around, just no time to get them in a box and test it all.. thnx 4 your consern though.. glad to know i'm not forgotten :D

ive just received an PB, from someone who wondered if it was ok to hijack this thread to post his own build.. just to make it clear, my sid is not done yet, and i will be continuing this thread as soon as i get some free time again. or when i get the parts from smashtv for the wilba PCB. also its generally not a very good idea to mix builds.. as things tend to get convoluted.. for anyone beginning a new build.. make your own topic.. give a great name and start posting your updates.. you got a fresh topic, not some old dinky one with dents and scratchmarks from the previous owner.. no rust.. no old gum wrappers on the floor.. well you catch my drift.. its easier to follow your build that way.. and of course good luck with your build..

ive got one of those pads as well, and this is how it works..(long time ago since ive tested it so i dont know the exact pins anymore) you are right x and Y are dependent.. but not really.. check this out.. __________ |\ /| | \ / | | \ / | | X | | / \ | | / \ | |/ \| ------------ ok right, now this is the pad. the red line is one axis, and the green one is another..that means if you move your finger along one of those lines the value of the other doesnt change. it contradicts a typical xy grid.. however there is, or should be, some simple code to change this.. i havent thought of it yet.. and right now im kind of in the middle of some other projects..

that scratching was done with a light sensor? tight!!

i dont need the bankstick chips and i dont need the pics.. would that mean $75.. or are banksticks included in that price??

im in if its a full kit (i cant stand searching for all the parts individually) ie.. the parts on the board.. pots knobs, buttons, switches is a different story.. but if all the electronical fiddly bits (actual technical term!) are included.. im in.. oh and obviously a nice price but as i said.. thats obvious..

hey guys, a new project thingy.. a small project.. its a keyboard.. no velocity.. just a scan matrix.. but with proportions i cant really wrap my head around.. its a 5x12 matrix. so i would need either 2 dout chips or 2 din chips.. right now im trying to break down the system.. but there are just a lot of unknowns.. ill keep try to keep this here thread updated and try to make it a reference point for other users of the scan matrix. edit: below you will see the button matrix as is.. what i now need to know is how to connect it correctly to the dins and douts.. and it needs to be tiny.. cuz the casing i have is very small..
