  1. So why not read through the 'Parts' forum and learn what's already there, then post a helpful summary yourself? Why expect everyone else to do all your research for you? -drin
  2. You know Pol, you're awfully demanding for someone new to the community. Perhaps you should start by filling in your 'survey' yourself, rather than just 'wanting' others to give you all the answers. We may? Why, thank you your majesty! How very gracious of you! -drin
  3. Hey Wisefire! Where'd you get the cheap knobs? Do you have a part number for them? Thanks! -drin
  4. Pictures were posted and taken down because we modified the layout to reflect users' comments. We have new pictures posted now on the NI forum. -drin
  5. Hi Paul. We're alrady building almost the exact controller you mentioned. We're calling it the Kombine. If you search the NI Traktor 3 forum you'll find some posts on it. We'll be releasing the spec to allow homebuilders to make their own as well. -Adrian
  6. Was that the post about drilling a small hold with a 'hole saw' bit into a piece of plexiglass and inserting an LED into it, or is there another method I'm missing? Thanks! -drin
  7. Great MBox! I second the question - could you give some details on how you made the illuminated buttons? Thanks! -drin
  8. No, Traktor doesn't do MIDI Out. You have to write your application in such a way that when you choose the appropriate switch/toggle/pot your app turns on the LED. -drin
  9. Has anyone heard from this guy recently? I mailed him in December asking him about his source for switches and caps and he replied, saying he had extras he would sell to me for $10 sent via Paypal. I sent him the cash and he replied on December 26th saying he was sending the switches. I haven't heard from him since, despite repeated emails to him asking about the mailing. Nor have I received any switches. -drin
  10. Thanks Thorsten! Much appreciated! I'll post a long-winded detailed message (grin) about my progress so far in the MIDIBox HUI forum later this week when I have an hour or so to spend composing it. -drin
  11. (Reposted here as requested by Thorsten - thanks TK!) Hi Thorsten! Happy New Year! I've been working on a MIDIBOX customized for Traktor 3, coded in C on top of MIOS. My code is only in debug stage, but I plan on having it complete by the end of February. There is enough demand for this box from Traktor users (according to their comments on the Native Instruments forums) that I'd like to consider commercializing it. I've already spoken with Tim and he's expressed interested in providing PCB fabrication for the internals, and I'd like to talk with you about the potential of selling the unit to Traktor users. It's a fairly specialized device, intended for use in Traktor 3 only, and while it uses MIOS underneath, the controller code is entirely new, using on the 'skeleton' C files as a template. Please note, I have no intention of doing this as a "get rich" venture, but as a way to get controllers into the hands of DJs using the Traktor software. That being said, I'm very open to the idea of making my code available to anyone who wants to use it. That way people who would prefer to build their own controller rather than buy mine would be able to do so. I would also like to talk with you about the potential of licensing use of MIOS from you for use in this box, if you're interested. I think MIDIBox, the MBHP and MIOS are wonderful tools, and you've done great things in developing them. I'd like to see you get some reward for your work beyond the adulation of the users. <smile> I can give you complete hardware specs, code flowcharts, anything you'd like to assist in the process. I have a source for case fabrication, decal printing, and most of the other processes needed. Thanks for such great tools! I look forward to hearing from you. -Adrian
  12. It's a nice thought, but there's a known bug in Traktor 2.5.X and 3.0.X that cause encoders to NOT work in a linear fashion. In other words, you can't scratch with them in Traktor. The guys at NI have known about this for about 10 months but so far no fix has been forthcoming. My T3 controller should be complete in about a month (my upcoming aikido black belt test is taking priority at the moment). I'd be happy to post a link to pics if anyone wants to see it when it's finished. -drin
  13. I'll take that beer, please. :) If it's the right sound (the original is a little different) is Dolby Labs' Dolby THX sound. It plays at the start of THX audio-encoded movies. Lucasfilm is pretty strict about it being online, but at the moment you can find it here: http://www.synthmania.com/Audio%20Files/Famous%20Sounds/Dolby%20THX.mp3. It was created with a Synclavier 2 at Skywalker Studio in California. -drin
  14. Those buttons are exactly what I'm looking for! Unfortunately I checked the Segor website and there's no English version and I don't read or speak German. Is there any chance of getting a manufacturer and part # from him? Thanks! -drin
  15. Sorry for the delay in replying George - I haven't been online much in the past couple of days. Thanks for the info! Unfortunately the switches aren't quite what I'm looking for so I'll have to keep on looking, I guess. Thanks again! -drin
  16. Oops. Sorry Wisefire, I have the flu and I managed to mix up two posts in the middle of my delirium... -drin
  17. I have the same encoder from SmashTV. I did twwo things to change it and am much happier with it. 1. I removed the detent. Bend the pins out on the sides, remove the case and lift the internal mechanism. You'll find the 'click' mechanism inside and can easily lessen or even eliminate it. 2. Change the encoder speed in your code. Those two changes made a WORLD of difference in my encoder. Did you manage to test the sliders to see if they're linear or not? Thanks! -drin
  18. Hi George. Can you give some more info on the tactile switches you have for sale? Thanks! -drin
  19. Hi Stefano. Do you have a part number and maybe a manufacturer for the fader? Thanks! -drin
  20. Hi! Do you have any information on the faders? I'd be interested in 10 of them... Thanks! -drin
  21. Thanks. Nope. They're not there. My style is that I set Cue points before I climb into the booth - I don't do it live. That makes Cue-Set and Cue-Delete irrelevant for me. There are two buttons for tempo and key up and down. I'm happy using them as they are - how quickly do you need to change tempo, after all? :) Again, things that are set before I go into the booth. If I need to set them in realtime I use the screen - that's what it's for. Other than the screenshots on NI's website I haven't seen the app yet, but I've talked to some of the moderators who tell me there are NO buttons to go with the knobs. Effects are knob-controlled only. This mixer is intended to capture the regular functionality of Traktor - I understand that some people do things differently, but this is the consensus we came to after weeks of discussion with T3 users, moderators and beta-testers. Thanks! -drin
  22. OK, here it is. After much design, weeks of brainstorming and hours of testing, here's our T3 controller design. We kept as close to Traktor's Xone:92 emulation as possible, although we'll have overlays for the Nuo mixer model as well. [img width=884 height=750]http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a27/drinpsmith/Kombine2.jpg I apologize if it's too big, but I wanted people to be able to make out the controls and comment on the design. Any comments are appreciated. Thanks! -drin
  23. OK, I'm confused. People in this thread seem to be saying it's NOT okay to sell a MIDI controller based on MIOS and MIDIBox, but this paragraph from the FAQ states: I'm playing Devil's Advocate here, so please don't shoot me. Does this not mean that a box based on MIOS with a custom application on top of it can be sold as long as the buyer is provided with published source code for the application? I understand that the seller doesn't own MIOS copyright - that's stated explicitly above. I guess my basic question is this: If MIOS source is provided and any custom application source is provided can a hardware MIDI controller based on MIOS be sold commercially? Thanks -Adrian
