http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_sid_cs/2x40_enc.pdf this is the one i was looking at. is there a special magic trick i'm going to have to learn to use the 2x40? In the making of a midibox sid, it seemed as though the character in that fabulous online fable was forced to recompile the binary file with some kind of new instructions.. this makes me wish i had never stopped learning programming whn i was younger.. i'd probably understand all of this.

You're the best. I'm ordering all the stuff i should have ordered before from avishowtech. I wonder if maybe in the future there's be a "step a" and "step b" kit. so if you want to do step B, and you're a moron like me, you don't have to think too hard.

what kind of buttons are these that are needed. It doesn't specify, just says 6 buttons. Are these STDP push on, push off? or just momentary? or.. i'm sure there's a list of specific parts, but damned if i can find it. The schematic for the 2x40 LCD makes it seem like they are momentary on switches (momentary close). By the gods i hope this is right, because that's what i'm going to buy.

I have ordered all the jazz to make a 4xsid midibox (4 sid modules and 4 cores). I am wondering if controlling this via the computer is pleasant and joyful, or if i should really go all out and get the din and dout stuff for the step c. Can you control everything from the computer? Are there come things that only the nice buttons can control? Just curious. I guess i just want to know if i need to shell out more dough or find my 4xsid box useless.. and can you store patches on your computer, rather than a bankstick?

I wonder if 50 years from now people will even remember the sid. How many people here play a vacuum tube controled oscilator controlled by plug in resistance cartridges?

HOLY JEEZ!! I'M WEEPING! There was talk before of including cable, was that just for people who had reships because of the lost shipment? Do we need to provide our own ribbon cable. I DID look on smashtv's site and the cables are not listed, but i remember something about them being included from the forum a whlie ago. So i am just clarifying.

so this all adds up to.. very good new SID design?

I am a tool. What is python and FPGA? Also, when fully designed, what do you estimate the cost of this item would be?

Indeed. ALl the information is there, but, and this is not an excuse, i have ADHD, and reading through long unorganized paragraphs of information ist he opposite of simple for me. Most people have no problem reading from top to bottom, but i start skipping around and it takes a lot of effort to just keep reading. (i got a medal when i finished university! ahaha, because adhd is a recognized disability at my school.. lame eh?) That's my excuse and i'm sticking to it. I find it easier just to ask a specific question to get a specific answer, rather than wade through a lot of written material which is, for me, inaccessible. dddepeps

Yeah, i checked and soundblaster made their own OPL chip... not the two yamaha ones.. so i don't know anything anymore..
-
From what i recall, soundblaster used OPL3 from Pro 2.0 on until at least AWE32. after AWE32, i don't know.
-
Have you found your OPL3 yet? because i can help you ifn ot.
-
you found the individual chips on ebay, or soundblaster pro cards on ebay?
-
I just don't want people to blame me for you not working on kits... ignore me.. i write no more!

I also have been diagnosed with ADHD, though. twice, once as a child, again as a university student (in order to qualify for their ADHD medical benefits plan. which was just sitting in a room listening to people tell me how i could studybetter)

That';s a brilliant idea. He could mass produce the faceplates at a cheaper rate.

Where the OUT and IN spots are on the board, is there a jack that will mount on the board, or should i run leads to jacks and mount them in a case of some kind.. maybe i just answered my own question.. suppose now i need apower drill,, but still, can you mount jacks on the baords directly? And one last question.. what does the audio IN do? Can the sid do something to audio signals? like do you use it as a filter or something?
-
Where do i go to see these new 3d renders of the boards?

It's so painful watching the order status page every day and seeing the green lines at the beginning dwindle.... the excitement is killing me... !jdfj!
