  1. my only concern is floating point perfomance and an extended 32bit OS with win3.1 DNA wont do the justice. Plus they also guarantee glitch less audio playback, and less/user customized kmixer ( the internal wma resample gross). My favorite PC joke: atreides - linux , ordos - mac, now Im with teh harkonnen, general Ballmer, ahead!!
  2. http://ladspavst.linuxaudio.org/ ps.: dont ask me im waiting for vista and the new amd cpu :-))
  3. now started at that link and arrived here: http://gear.studiorepair.de/Jomox/XBase09/index3.html "..lets you program parameter values on each step..." "In order to preserve the analog sound as well as of sound control, all parameters are controlled by specially adapted and discretely built up digital to analog converters. Great care has been take to preserve the anaog feel of control votages in the AirBAse 99's MIDI control of sound parameters." be sure to click on the page selector button. I like its build a lot. Nice , full of ST micro :)
  4. yeah it has versatility [well] beyond the 808 snare , this is why I started looking after it. I found Trevors website years ago, instead of real machine listened only samples yet, overall I like the 808 bongos much better than the toms in eitherone . So I wont mess with the complete 909 kickdrum howitzer : )) My particular targets are the snap and tone parameters. Yeah and builders, be sure to put in ST semicon manufacted 072 , any other TL can just bite dust compared to it. ST is teh Signetics of TL series ;D
  5. what about a custom 909 snare module ~ attempt to CV up some parameters? Found this , nice read: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/apr02/articles/synthsecrets0402.asp?print=yes
  6. FYI http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/14-ALPS-Motorfader-100mm-10K-mono-gebraucht_W0QQitemZ200112475405QQihZ010QQcategoryZ12078QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I skipped these last day (forget to bid) , perhaps a coincidence so this project wont be without me hahaha.
  7. wrote inside your other topic I see there are "several" for sale ,I wold take another
  8. Hello I would buy your prototype PCB. Please write your email adress in use. Well just saw your other topic, I would buy either(1) of bassmachines +1 fader assembly. Yeah and I have a courier in US waiting for package.
  9. Bambus ;D (= bamboo in "european")
  10. some would be rather careful not to get banned from myspace in these days, srsly
  11. ok this user doesnt seem to be here any more, I subtract my order, spend on dac instead.
  12. perhaps, I tought out a thingie for OSC controller usage! we need scratchpad and a fader, even though it equals a CV scaler in my point of view. OFFTOPIC: so far i dont know who is playing the postcount-aholic, if you think its me, fine, "obviously, you have an opinion..."+1. If you dont want to join into the osc hype thing (is there such?), me neither, fine, both the lemur and the monome are over my comprehension, maybe my postcountaholic degree is holding me back mentally.
  13. went ahead and asked on irc, timestamps are not handled in current firmware, so nor is the picosecond timing by default.
  14. http://dev.makingthings.com/browser thanks google
  15. well , i can find no answers by makezine staff in their ridicoulus forum engine, but google gives hits like makezine.com: Make Enhanced Podcasts well , lol :P I ll look into this topic for sure. I think we can see some DAC hooked up to the avr32 very soon. The hardware accelerated dot product and fft computation is not bad thing either, too bad Im nowhere close to comprehend it mentally.
  16. dunno if linux counts as firmware
  17. http://www.avrfreaks.net/wiki/index.php/Documentation:NGW/NGW100_Hardware_reference for 70usd , i guess it wont spend much time in stores.
  18. stryd, that makezine uC is obsolete compared to new devkits. Even their website looks like caricature, downplay of Nuts&Volts magazine, driven by money hunger (forgive me if im totally wrong ). - I also fail to see the importance of OSC in this topic.
  19. The AVR32 AP7 core has load/store instructions supporting byte (8 bit), half-word (16 bit), word (32 bit) and double word (64 bit) widths. the osc protocol specifies 64bit timestamps, looks like it hits home __________________________________________________________ novel expansion would be to transmit audio itself over ethernet and use builtin I2s port to drive DAC, pcm56 with passive I/V is quite simple to do, some members at diyaudio.com are already planning this ethernet thing (5.1 ... they want demux serial inside an fpga ). least novel would be lcd and touchpad, and some CV scaler (:
  20. http://www.avrfreaks.net/wiki/index.php/Documentation:NGW/NGW100_Hardware_reference hell, not bad 70usd thats for sure
  21. http://www.atmel.com/dyn/products/tools_card.asp?tool_id=4102 this is what I found so far, the avr32 runs linux ( & doom2 :D infact even q2 ) @ US$69 VERY Friendly for the following: The (32bit) AT32AP7000 processor includes a vector multiplication co-processor, 16-bit stereo audio DAC, 2048x2048 pixel TFT/STN LCD controller, high-speed USB 2.0 with on-chip transceivers (PHY), and two 10/100 Ethernet MACs. Serial interfaces include RS232, USART, I2S, AC97, TWI/I2C, SPI, PS/2 and several synchronous serial modules (SSC), supporting most serial communication protocols, making it ideal for a variety of applications such as routers, POS, navigation, multimedia and printers. Let's print some CV
  22. I plan to use several diy devices with the new Aout module, and find it somewhat interesting to migrate the Aout module itself from midi input to timestamped OSC protocol in (~ 200 picosec jitter in theory, comparable to cirrus-logic digital audio receivers). The OSC generators ("few" types of ADSR,LFO what can be assembled inside several host prgs) can be controlled by midi, but the CV itself is not affected by timing inconsistency. So far the ideas for controlled devices are the following: VCA cluster (6+) ~ built from SSM2018, or THAT2180, using the low control delay (0.5ms) CV interface, patented by Sony (ugh). 3x BBD chorus ~ several types of BBD-s can be bought from smallbear electronics, If I not had the mn3004 in ready built circuit, I would go for the 512stage SADxxxx. SSM2044 ~ filterchip, speaks for itself , simple . I lack knowledge of a suited uC with builtin ethernet, and abilty to drive the DAC.
  23. I bought the 1x mb64 and 2x mf panels.
