  1. this looks good to me but i guess you'll find out when you try it. i didn't know about this code, might come in handy in the future. ultra
  2. hey, maybe tk's code for the DOG LCD touchscreen would help you learn about using different reference voltages. http://svnmios.midibox.org/listing.php?repname=svn.mios32&path=%2Ftrunk%2Fapps%2Fexamples%2Fdog_g_touchpanel%2F
  3. madox: i certainly don't think you're too critical. midibox is as much a learning tool as it is fun, and any suggestions you have help us all. :) this is the first pcb i actually completed, and there will be more in the future. i'll definitely be coming back to this thread when it comes time to start something new.
  4. thanks. the design really is all wilba. his control surface boards only require a single 10 pin cable to the pcb. and the overall design how it fits together is well thought out and it works perfectly. i just recommend that you very closely follow his directions and read the entire build guide before you start. in the end it looks so good because of the design work, which is the part i didn't even have to worry about. in fact, i didn't design the ucore to fit with this. the ucore was already done when wilba started this, and his design fits with it. the core32 won't fit it (unless someone has plans i don't know about), but that won't matter since certain components, like the usb port, require it to be at the back panel anyway.
  5. i'm glad they're arriving :). madox: i will take this into account when making my next board. not sure if i'll do it, but i'll for sure investigate whether or not it'll be needed. i'm not sure if other boards, like smash's, use two ground planes. i'm glad you like the layout and i appreciate the comments. ultra
  6. i want a t-shirt, and a bumper sticker that says "i'd rather be midiboxing"
  7. thanks! now i gotta learn to use it. :) * ultra uses his school's printers to print out the entire manual
  8. yeah sasha, they're from optrex: http://www.optrex.com/products/groupdetail.asp?g=step&p=C-51850 i can also tell you they're expensive. i like them because the letters are bright but the light is soft, and overall the lcds aren't too bright. also, when text changes on the displays it seems a bit slow to respond, like the characters slightly blur. i don't think this will be much problem with the seq but i for sure wouldn't use them on something where characters are changing quite a bit. ultra
  9. i finished this today. well, besides the case of course. and the lcd on the right arrived defective, you can sorta see the vertical lines in the picture. i couldn't do this in a couple of nights like the other guys did, but it still was a fun build and look at the result :)! it all went together very smoothly. thanks a lot wilba for this great design. i got into electronics 2+ years ago to build a seq. i kept learning better ways of doing things and starting over, so i ended up with my ultracore and this panel and control surface design. i'm pretty happy right now :). very many thanks to you tk for making this awesome project. i'll be up late tonight. #0000000000000000000004
  10. thank god. i only had three beers after work...
  11. well it appears that your u-series and these t-series are a different story. but the other info is helpful :).
  12. so has anybody figured out how to make the t-series compatible? when connected, they give garbage on the screen. they're clearly various kinds of characters, but nothing close to what i want. ultra
  13. i'm back from vacation, and the boards went out today for those who paid.
  14. yeah so has julien http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,12724.0.html
  15. got mine today. haha nils you suck! j/k, thanks for the pcbs and the other stuff :).
  16. displays made by newhaven are pretty cheap and they sell them at mouser.
  17. midify your box-o-trix, as in midi for the gate?
  18. sounds like that linux mce video. they make it look so easy and it's a POS!
  19. correction: deep88 sent me his info. i just didn't notice it in my inbox. petterniklas do you still exist? boards were shipped from the fab yesterday, should get here this week.
  20. i haven't gotten mine yet. this is why you don't talk s**t to nils. he put me way down on the list. i hope others can learn from my mistakes.
