good stuff ;D i like the telecaster dome knob for the center data wheel i have been getting them regularly from stewart mac in the states for years now for my guitars timber looks like good ol tassie oak i think :-\ but maybe blackbutt i agree with stryd about the color for the panel a deep blue would be nice but perhaps i am a bit impartial having gone that way myself good to see you did the panel yourself, nice work mate.

recieved dog lcd's today international postage costs damn expensive USD $75 but they were ok to deal with and soselectronics were still the cheapest place i could find even taking the postage into account postage cost was included in the min order price of USD $100 cheers ;D

just had a re think.while the secondaries sound all good ignoring R.M.S. for the moment. Question for doug you didn't specify voltage supply for the primary since you are in the US you would of course be looking at 110V which wouldn't suit a lot of people in other countries , or are you already ahead of me and specifing two primary windings into the design as they are to be custom wound ?

my not so good first idea for holding everything in place while soldering :-[ :: first boards i have touched in over 20 years and i remembered some boards from back then [ NEC i think ] using something similar now i just use tape ::)

just as an idea try a plumbing supply look for large diameter plastic pipe the size you want this stuff paints pretty easy see if they sell end caps to suit [think outside the square] :D ;D diy

i have bought from futurlec exactly once before they were very fast and very cheap i will use them again until i find somewhere better. there is always somewhere better. just finding them is the hard part

yes i actually did that today and also elsewhere it seems that the ks0066u controllers are compatible allthough there are slight changes to some wait times the backlight voltages are fine as are the contrast voltage so looks like it"s all ok good enough for me to try them out for the next project at least anyway crystalfonts also have their version as well it also looks likely so orange not so bad after all. p.s they also stock red.

there are orange L.C.D listed at newhaven displays but i dont know if they will work as the controll is listed as ks0066u ??? if anyone knows definitive answer i will keep researching this as i am also looking for a couple of orange displays for pair of midibox cv"s i want to start soon.

nice work mate i like those buttons and yeah i think i will be going panel mount from now on but maybe with a small twist i just cant help myself.

sorted the silicone grips for the knobs only taken me six months ::)finally worked out car vacuum tubing from the local super cheap auto store would work very nice feel very grippy see attached pics will be stripping the unit down completely next so i can powdercoat the chassis blue and white will post more pics after i have finished and got it up and running. knob closeup.JPG IMG_6913.JPG
