  1. Cutting - (soon to be in stock - mention if you want one of them) mb6582 sets (front and rear panels) in matt black (infill colour to be decided) @ GBP 75 per set. example photos from previous batches:
  2. Update (20th june 2014) - Current pricing on midibox panels - mb6582 panel sets (front and rear) - GBP 85 mbseq 19" panels (single panel) - GBP 80 / GBP 85 mbseq 17" panel sets (for desktop enclosure) - GBP 80 (top) GBP 35 (rear) There may be some of the above in the 'shop here - http://thebeast.co.uk/?post_type=product ...but, if not, drop me a line, and ill cut-to-order.
  3. I dont really know the procedure / etiquette for running a group buy? Im guessing i start another thread here, and get people to add their names? I have no idea at all when it comes to wiki pages. I dont need many to start cutting - just a handfull of orders would be enough to start. Lead time from me is normally pretty minimal, but im wondering if people may want to wait untill the cases are in production? At present, i guess i should ask if anyone wants the green on black panel i made for the demo? Or maybee thats a job for the 'flea market' section?
  4. update - {SOLD} matt black / blue infill {SOLD} satin blue / no infill {SOLD} satin blue / no infill {SOLD} matt black / orange infill thank you, julian
  5. Photos as promised - Edge profiling - 1.5mm Screen recess - 2.0mm (to match the acrylic screens i was giving away last time) Stand-off wells - 2.0mm If there is interest, im sure i could make the rear panels also.
  6. No, no PMs, but i didnt expect any yet. Ive produced one 17" panel for demonstration - i will photograph it, and upload the shots, and then see if there is any interest. As for the mb6582 panels - lexan will always be cheaper, but i, personally, do not like the longevity of stickers. But that is a choice for the buyer - i only do engraing. I pretty much always have mb6582 panels in stock - the production of them doesn't scale in the same way, so i am able to make them in smaller numbers when people want them.
  7. Got it - will pack it, and then ill know the postage costs for the others also. [orange on black is going to Rave-TZ]
  8. ps. also have pactec pt-10s (graded) to go with them @ GBP 24 each
  9. Ive cut a few more mb6582 sets. There are two in satin blue / no infill (silver writing) and two in matt black (one with orange infill, one with blue) The photos below are not amazing, as theres snow all over the place here, and its too cold to go outside (where the camera works better) but the cut is up to my usual standard, seen in other photos about the place. This last photo (below) shows the slightly different finish of the blue. Its not as matt as the black, slightly more reflective, but still a long way off gloss. I think its quite nice, and looks quite smart in the black cases. The postage charges have gone up very slightly since the last batch, and ill have to verify the costs, and edit this post, but the increase will probably only be somthing like GBP 0.5 - 0.75 per package. As i hope people know, i like to give accurate postal costs, as its always an irritation of mine when people deliberately try to make money by overcharging for postage. Ill verify the costs later in the day, i hope - i just wanted to get the photos up now. Oh, and the cost is GBP 75 per set (front and rear panels) regardless of colour. Postage is at cost. Payment by bank in either GBP or Euro (euro converted at HSBC's euro buy-rate) or in any currency by Google Checkout (surcharged at cost). Thanks, Julian (17" mbseq to follow shortly)
  10. Ive just about made a 1-off 17" panel for a demonstration / photoshoot item (just need to finish up the rear side milling tommorow) Ill take some snaps when its done, and people can see what they think. julian
  11. Sorry - i havent been watching the forums much recently - if anyone wants me, i get email notification from the PMs, but not from forum posts... But, in answer to your question, i actually just finished up some mb6582 panels today, and i still have some graded cases in stock. I was planning on taking some photos tommorow and starting a thread here. Im also just about to finish up a panel for the mbseq desktop case (just 1-off as an example) The mb6582s finished today are - matt black / orange infill (held for Rave-TZ) matt black / blue infill satin blue / no infill (silver) The mbseq 17" is - matt black / green infill Anyway photos to follow tommorow. Julian
  12. Hi there, Ive just replied to your pm - i currently have none on the shelves, but am planning on working on some new mb6582 panels next week.
  13. im so sorry for such a slow reply - i often miss forum replies, as you dont get email notifications for them, and i dont spend so much time actually on forums. im afraid the blue panel is gone. i am going to be making some more at some point in the nearish future though, and, if i get any graded panels, ill certainly contact you before anyone else. (or, of course, if i dont make a mess of them, you could have a nice one, but im afraid i normally charge more for ones i dont make errors on! : ) julian
  14. Sorry for the slow reply, For a buyer in the states, i cant fault your conclusion, but my concern is that a number of people on your list are actually from the EU? Google has just told me that 160 U.S. dollars = 100.068797 British pounds, so, sure, your price is pretty much what i was offering, but, for a buyer in the EU, that's nowhere close to what they will actually end up paying : ( Ill make my example as a buyer from the UK, as these are the figures i know. Ill disregard all postage amounts, and convert all to USD at the median rate. Sellers (ie your) paypal charge which i assume youll want paid - 4.4% (USD 7.04) Buyers paypal currency conversion charge - 2% (USD 3.34) Shipping - disrergarded Duty - aprox 3.5% (USD 5.6) Parcelforce handling - GBP 13.50 (USD 21.53) VAT @ 17.5% on whole lot - (160 + 5.6 + 21.53) x 0.175 = USD 32.74 So, total charges, excluding shipping - 7.04 + 3.34 + 5.6 + 21.53 + 32.74 = 70.25 USD Total spend, exclusding shipping - USD 160 + USD 70.25 = USD 230.25!!! If i convert this to Euro at Google's rate, it gives me - 230.25 U.S. dollars = 168.557833 Euros Ive just downloaded Schaeffers new pricing for Europe, and priced a 1-off panel from them, and its given me a figure of Euro 164.73 including the 19% German sales tax! What this meens is that, for anyone in the UK, and, i assume the rest of the EU, it would actually be cheaper for them to buy a 1-off from Schaeffer in Germany, than one of your 10-off from the states. Of course, i only know the tarrifs for the UK, so other countries across europe may have slightly different processing charges, etc. but i doubt there's a whole load of difference across the EU? Id also assume shipping from Germany to anywhere in the EU to be cheaper than from the States to EU countries? As youve pointed out, i can barely compete with your US 10-off prices, but, it seems a group buy organised from the US can not compete in Europe with even Schaeffer Germany's 1-off prices. In light of all of the above, would you be offended if i ran an EU only offer on the panels? Anyone who was still convinced that threadded blinds in a 3mm panel were a structually sound way to assemble the unit could go with Shaeffer Germany's Euro 164.73 price, but then, anyone who wanted to save some money and / or didnt entirely think that possibly less than 2mm of thread in soft alluminium was sensible could have another option also. I dont want you to think im 'stealing' your buyers, but, from the above, it does seem that any EU buyer on your list is doing nothing more than subsidising your reduced rate from their own pocket : (
  15. Hehe... I can do blinds, but not threadded blinds. But, as i explained at in this post ( ) im actually very dubious as to if threadded blinds in a 3mm panel are a good thing anyway. As for shipping costs - Of course i could ship to someone in the UK for that sort of money. I could ship to someone in europe for a little more. And someone in the US for a bit more again. But, id have thought that the main point is the total cost, not the shipping cost? The other huge saving, as far as EU customers are concerned, is that all the pricing i ever give out includes EU taxes, whilst a USD 150 import would actually cost USD 150 + 3.5% duty + aprox USD 20 processing + (at least)17.5% vat on entry to the EU (which makes quite a significant difference to EU buyers!) I dont believe US import tarrifs are as strict, so a similar priced package from the EU to the USA doesnt suddenly grow in price in the same way (but do correct me if im wrong on that?) Dont get me wrong - order from wherever you like : ) I try and do trade by doing quality work at a lower cost than other suppliers, but, if it works out cheaper for evreyone to buy from somewhere else, then, sure, go for it : )
  16. Just a thought... When i did the 19" panels, wasnt i charging GBP 100 each? Ive just put it into google, and come back with the result: 100 British pounds = 156.68 U.S. dollars ...and that was for the 19" (which would be very sightly more) AND with the acrylic screens included, without such a large minimum order number : ) I could probably panelise 17" jobs to make savings in production, but, either way, im certain i could beat the FPE price on a 10-off run : ) There's examples of the quality of my work about, and, even from the thread running in the flea market section currently, you can see that im quite fussy with what i consider fit for sale : ) So, yep, touting for buisiness, sure, but, at the same time, people generally like their costs lowered, so i figured id post : )
  17. I have been going over the shelves and have a load of CNC engraved panels for sale, and still some pactec pt10 cases. Some of these are graded panels, with small defects (which are noted and photographed) and some are just surplus. Some of the ones with marks, etc, ive put aside as im not going to post stuff out that i can see errors on, but, in reality, when the build is complete some will be virtually impossible to spot. Some of these will give a huge saving against going to FPE etc. for virtually the same end result : ) Ive copied and pasted the descriptions below, but theres more info, prices, photos etc here - http://www.thebeast.co.uk/cnc/sale/ Thanks, Julian ps. im in the UK, but ship all over : ) Midibox 6285 panel set (front and rear) - cut in blue and infilled in white x0xb0x panel set (front and rear) - cut in matt black without infill (silver writing) 5u Oakley VC-LFO - cut in matt black with white infill 5u Oakley Discontinuity - cut in matt black with white infill 5u Oakley Discontinuity - cut in matt black with no infill (silver writing) 3u x 4hp Eurorack Moog Voyager break out - cut in matt black with white infill Frac into Euro adapter 5u Oakley Discontinuity - cut in matt black with white infill Midibox 6285 panel set (front and rear) - cut in matt black and infilled in yellow x0xb0x panel set (front and rear) - cut in blue without infill (silver writing) 19" x 1u Oakley Filtrex 2 panel - cut in 3mm natural silver with black infill Pactec PT-10 cases 5u Oakley Sample / Slew - cut in matt black with no infill (silver writing) 5u Oakley Cascaded OTA Filter - cut in matt black with no infill (silver writing) 5u Oakley Noise / Filter - cut in matt black with no infill (silver writing)
  18. just a quick note - if there are a number of people who want 19" panels changed to 17", and, more importanly, any recesses milled along the edges, i could probably alter them here (im in England, UK)
  19. its not the best, but i think thats just the way it is. like i say, i dont think they save all the marked ones, and mix them in with my order - i think thats just the way they opperate. some of the marks are caused in packing, but, as i mention, some are under the factory applied shrink wrap. i suspect that most of these cases find their way into industrial control apparatus, where noones bothered by a mark or two. musical instrument production is, i would have thought, a much more cosmetically demanding application than the cases are produced for. but, yes, they should be better. ultimatly, i probably have a "take it or leave it" situation though - and i choose to take it, and offer the marked cases at about 2/3 the cost of anyone else. to me, that seems my best option : /
  20. Hehe... let you know what - if you want them? Of course you do - you want at least 5, maybee 10. Be on the safe side, order 15 : ) Being sensible though - i have them, if you want them, youre welcome to them : )
  21. Hi Wilba, Thanks for the info... The hard bit on these panels is the routing on the rear of the panel, as it needs to be flipped and the alignment set up again. Milling the edges ont he front side to slot into some extrusion isnt an issue at all. Is the enclosure group-buy intended to be an all-in-one complete solution, or a chassis that panels (from shaeffer, FPD, or whereever) are then fitted into?
  22. hehe... I assure you that whilst your panel may look the same, the depth of the recess is different. The difference is tiny, and will probably be fine, but i did want you to know before you spent time wondering why the acrylic didnt fit right. (half a mm is much bigger than it seems when there is no spare space!) I started my 'offer' of screens some time after you purchased the panel, and changed the tool path at the same time. Indeed, i took measuremnts of the acrylic that i had purchased, and machined the recess to match. Panels prior to this (which includes your panel) were cut to the depth specified by Wilba, and would, ideally, be served by matching screens machined to his specifications. Not that ill ever know what you do (ill send the parts regardless) but - There will be a cost to sending the parts to you. Rather than me invoice this cost, i thought it better if i just ask you to make an (additional) charitable contribution to the same ammount.
  23. i have some left over from the last run, but they probably have small imperfections... when i started offering the acylic, i also altered the depth of the window recess to match, so as, when the window was fitted, the rear of the window would be fush with the rear of the panel, and your panel will have been prior to this alteration. i think your panel would have had the window recess cut to Wilba's original specification, which meens that the windows i have here will sit proud at the rear. as to if this will be an issue to you or not will depend on the clearence your build has between the panel and the front of the screen. anyway, given all of the above, if you do want a set, could i ask that you make a euro 3.50 donation to the charity of your choice, and, when youre done, PM me your current address, ill get a set in the post to you, carridge free
  24. Ive been getting a few emails recently along the lines of - "do you still have mb5682 panels - the thread on the forum is months old, so i wasnt sure..." So... I wanted to confirm that, yes, if you want mb6582 panel sets, we are doing them.... : )
  25. I guess i should say that we still have cases in stock... : )
