I've heard of Preston Sturgess, but Thurston? Well, Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth divorced the infinitely cool Kim Gordon, thus endeth the band. Thurston has to be a portend of the coming storm
Anywho, enough musing! Great news if there's now a chance of a new GM5 bulk
/J, waiting with bated breath

Oooh,
I'm sooo going to borrow from this if I ever have to the time to do some work with Ctrlr! Someone has to make something for all the wonderful, weird gear out there. K5000s, Fizmos (yet to acquire one) and maybe the FS1r. Also, the XV-5080 needs an OSX-compatible editor :frantics: Plus of course, all the old Casios, Yamahas, Ensoniqs and what not...
Kudos!

Excellent news!
Both that there will be a librarian and that Ctrlr gets some love
-
At the moment it's more a question of having time for that project vs the rest of the backlog plus personal stuff
More in due time.

I'm with ilmenator above

Purrty much!
Something will happen. Later rather than sooner.

Hi,
Not to nitpick, but the Shruthi and the standard Ambika use the smaller TACBLK and similar caps. NOT the TA12-series or the PE-BK/WHT etc.
Best,

Yo!
Great song and video :D
Needless to say, I'm a sucker for the sound of the Polivoks VCF. Sad to hear about the lost plane. Speaking of filter magic, the Fonitronik PS-3100 resonators are another unique and fantastic stereo effect.

I'll happily pick up some if you have any spares or leftovers.

Depends on the bank. Some of those don't accept international money transfers made from the on-line banking.
Some, like mine, do.
Also, parts of the EU don't use the Euro so it might complicate matters. Other countries in Europe aren't part of the EU. Banks in the US, Canada, Oz, etc follow their local set of rules related to international transfers.
The point here might be that PP handles this for you. With your bank YMMV.

The capacitor output voltage will droop slightly over time so it needs to be refreshed (just like the capacitors in memory cells in a DRAM for instance).
Normally you connect those outputs to FET inputs somewhere else to mitigate that effect.
The zipper noise won't be that bad if you update often, so Nyquist is your friend as always. But here comes the performance issue:
Something (interrupts or a loop) needs to periodically update these capacitors
This is how it was done in most polysynths and the occasional mono as well. See the Prophet VS for an over-the-top example of S/H taken to the extreme.

Guess I'm a member of some cult if that's what I choose to read into the blog post.
I don't get it: Is it bad the poor blogger has learned something about electronics? Not realizing that it was a large undertaking? It's like complaining that you went to university instead of working - it's *your* own choice. I occasionally build stuff (I'm more an engineer type) and occasionally make music as a hobby. If I wanted to and had the means to support myself only making music I could, but I don't see any knowledge gained as a burden.
There are other kits available that can be perceived as easier - you can get an assembled x0xb0x if that's what you want. Also, it's not that difficult to buy an assembled Sammich in the fleamarket section. Granted, there was no Sammich kit when this blog post was written
These days you can also get into Shruthis, Preen FM and other kits that are great synths that come with their own preconditions. Or simply buy ready-made gear...
IMHO: TK and others have done lots of hard work for free or little compensation. Sorry then if someone is offended that they don't want to share the fruits of that work in a way so that others can make lots of money from it. And (the horror) you might learn something from it! MIDIbox may not be all things for everyone, but there's nothing precluding someone from starting whatever own platform on their own terms. I don't see why someone all of sudden wants to change the MIDIbox into something else should be stopped or frowned upon, but that decision ultimately lies with the creator TK.
Anyways - have fun with your new SID synth! That's the endgame - politics aside

I wish they did more colors, but the transparent blue can be seen on some Microwave XTk synths. A friend of mine has one, I'll make do with a rack XT that comes with another type of knobs... I think the red ones were on one of the Q variants, Phoenix edition maybe?
Anywho, looking forward to some photo pr0n
Some day I'll have that very disco controller for my MIDI hardware... Maybe starting with the VS

Tip: Check with the member julianf (The Beast co.ltd) otherwise. He'll cut you some very nice panels

Cool, raw sounds! I like the piano accompaniment going wild in a few spots as well

Thanks for all the effort, for doing it for the community and being a stand-up guy :flowers:

Hi,
If you can wait a while, please help getting the list closer to 250 chips here: Bulk order interest list
If you are in a real hurry, try the flea market forum.

Thank you TK!

Hi,
The issue with the LM 317/337 is that they require more external components, but: they have lower ripple than the fixed voltage regulators. If you're really picky this is what you want

My go to shop of choice for This would be Small Bear Electronics! Their shoppe...
They have some fakes that are half the length and are upfront about it. But they have clones from Cool Audio or Shanghai Belling.
I don't have any such, but I could maybe be talked into selling a couple of TDA1022s to a damsel in distress.

Cool track! Nice to see a little BLM action also! Then sprinkle some FPV on top and it's ready to serve

I was able to score a bunch of those for about 2.20€ each a while ago. I bought them at Encitech. If that becomes too expensive, drop me a PM. I could send you one or two in that case.
Edit: Encitech were out. Eek!
Cheers!

I think it's only yet another example of the little bank emulating the crook methods the bigger banks use. It ranges from extortionate fees to sheer economic terrorism (Goldmann Sachs et al, looking at you!).
One could argue that the card companies wanting a cut out of every transaction, or PayPal etc do the same thing. But, their fees are less. Wish more people had the decency to accept PayPal or something similar and told the buyers to pay the fee (gifting money thru PP etc) if losing a small amount of money is that much of a trauma.
Telling the banks to GTFO is the only way to make them adapt to the 21st century for smaller customers too

Oh, those Moog-like Cosmo knobs.
You can find knockoffs of those on Ebay, or take a look over at Smallbear or Mammoth Electronics.
