  1. agreed, it's much better than mine
  2. I'll post some when I get home from work tonight.
  3. For example, during startup there is a loud audible click from two of the SIDs during the attack period of each of the notes in the startup chime. The SIDs in my sammichSID don't do this, neither do the 6581s that I have. edit: The thing is, they don't seem to do this after startup, so maybe they don't need to be replaced after all. Either way, I need more SIDs, as I only have 4 in there now ;)
  4. awww chit!!! I found it. it wasn't my cables after all, it was a faulty optocoupler. ...although I need new SIDs (they have clicky oscillators) that startup sound is a godsend!
  5. ok, I think I found the issue. I used sil headers where the midi jacks would normally go because I'm reusing a c64 case, and this allow me to get the baseboard into the case the way I want it. Admittedly, I'm pretty inept when it comes to assembling the cables that connect to those suckers. I thought I had them working, but aparently not.... I'll make some new cables and try again. Thanks for that link, it definately helped :)
  6. well, there goes that idea, r80 is where it should be :(
  7. So, I know similar issues get posted all the time, but I can't seem to find a solution that has worked for me. I'm trying to upload the mb-6582 firmware, but it seems that the core is not recieving midi. I know my midi interface is sending midi becuase I can see the indicator light flash as MIOS studio sends info. Also, MIOS studio is recieving the upload request, so I know MIDI is being recieved by MIOS studio. However, I keep getting a 'No response for MIOS8 or MIOS32 core' message in MIOS studio. I do have the jumper at J11 connected for core 1. Just for kicks, I tried placing a pic in the core 2 socket, and moving the jumper to position 2, but with the same results. I saw this note on the construction guide but I'm not sure it pertains (I currently only have 1 pic inserted in core1): I think I'm just being retarded, but I can't locate r80. Please forgive me, I assembled the baseboard nearly a year ago and am just getting back into working on it.
  8. mb-6582 firmware upload in progress :)

  9. haha, same here :) I guess it pays to put midibox.org in the 'how'd you hear about us field'. Who knew?
  10. I've known about a few bugs in my osm for a while, but haven't had a chance to fix them until now. Automation is finally working on this thing :) There still may be bugs here and there, but it's closer to 100% working now anyhow. MIDIBoxSIDKontrol.zip
  11. Thank you sir! You're a gentleman and a scholar.
  12. I figured that was the case. Thanks a lot for confirming my suspicion :) I searched ucapps, the wiki, and the forums for about an hour and a half last night and couldn't find anything that would confirm that for me. ...another stupid but related question ;) do I wire up my LCD like a 4 bit display in the same way I would with the standard core? or use all 8 data lines? again, sorry for the stupid question but I come from the school that believes the only truly stupid question is the one that goes unasked.
  13. I'm putting together a MIDIBox SID using the MB-6582 baseboard, and have a question about wiring the LCD. Are the pins at J15, the same as described here? I assume they are, but just wanted to be sure.
  14. If it's the same seller as vintagegolden, they should come. I've bought SIDs from him several times. One order was lost in the mail and he replaced them, however communication was a bit slow on his part.
  15. I don't have M4L so I can't test this, but from the image it looks like you're missing a bank select knob. I like the layout though. A while back, I posted a VST editor that uses CCs in case you were interested. You might also want to mention that this will only work with the lead engine. I got chided a bit for not mentioning that when I posted my editor. ;)

3 patches are hardly worth it. I'll upload it in due time. Patience is a virtue ;)

too funny! A bassline bank would be nice too :) I've started one, but sadly I've only saved a handful of patches so it's not worth sharing yet.
  18. Last night I had some trouble with the patch selection menu. I was using the VST in Live 8.1 in Windows 7 64 bit. My selections from the patch menu wouldn't always register, and I'd have to click on the menu item several times before the patch would actually change. Anyway, great job and thanks!
  19. oh my, that sound like the problem with the Smash kit I set aside a while back. This sounds like an excuse to get started on it again. Thanks for the info!
  20. That's pretty much how I thought NRPNs would need to be handled. I appreciate you sharing that :) I think at some point in the furture I do want to make a version that uses NRPNs, but for now I've got the CCs which I still find handy. I think that at this point I've found and fixed most of the bugs, so if anyone sees anything that's still not working, please let me know. Check the first post for the latest version.
  21. I did a big round of testing and bug fixing last night, and most everything is working with the exception of the osc and filter selectors. I know what the problem is there (or at least I think I do) but just didn't have time to fix it last night.
  22. I suppose that's true, I just hadn't done it yet. I still like the idea of having a dedicated VST control surface though as I can set up more parameters.
  23. I understand it can only be used with the lead engine, but it's still useful to me and hopefully to someone else as well. It beats what I had been doing, which was setting up the gui knobs on the midi out plugin in FL every time I wanted to automate my sammichSID. I'd assume this is true. I hope to do a version in the future using NRPNs, but the whole thing is a learning process really.
  24. I could post the .osm with the caveat that I'm using the latest beta of Synthmaker which could cause problems opening the file with the FL version.
  25. :) I think it's kinda funny, so I ran with it. I'll change it. *edit: I changed the name to MIDIBoxSIDKontrol, but haven't taken new screenshots.
