  1. Are you planning another bulk order in the future? This is one thing I'd really like to add to my MBsid at some point in the future.
  2. I seem to remember reading of a similar issue at some point and the end result was that it was a ground issue. Try searching the forums a bit more and I bet you'd find the answer.
  3. Thanks for the tip about the lettering. I found some dry transfer lettering from an online model train supply company that should work nicely. For my front panel I decided to have front panel express do everything but the lettering in an effort to keep the cost down. That also gives me more flexibility as far as color and font.
  4. you guys have conviced me to go with red leds instead
  5. lol, nope. I've got a pile that big of 5mm ones that won't be used.
  6. I picked up these ones from mouser http://www.us.kingbright.com/images/catalog/SPEC/WP7104QBC-D.pdf they aren't ultrabright and were pretty cheap at $0.18 each when you order over 99 of them
  7. yeah, I just haven't done it yet. When I got mine I actually got a speak and math too, both of them for like $10. But the speak and math never worked right. It's too bad, because I really wanted that one to mod as well. Sooner or later I'll get repplacements.
  8. Yep, I've bought a few different kits from him actually. For the next 505 (or 727 if I can track one down) I modify I'm gonna use another one of his kits. I've got a modded speak and spell that actually died after I left batteries in it by mistake. The batteries exploded and it never worked again. The midi retrofit is probably still ok, I just need a new speak and spell.
  9. I really use it as a sample source more than anything else. I want to do another one at some point to where I can automate the glitches via midi. The patchbay isn't really intuitive enough.
  10. That's a modified Roland TR-505. It can make some pretty nasty glitched out sounds. Here's a better picture:
  11. Nope, no Supernova II or Virus Rack, but I'd like to pick up a Kaosilator at some point. In case you're curious here's what I'm working with currently: http://www.th3rdwave.com/?p=22 Remove the 2nd PC and add a Yamaha RM1X, Digitech TSR-12, and Gakken SX-150 (for modding of course) to that list.
  12. yep, I got that code from a post I made a while back when I was troubleshooting the same issue. Once I get home from work I'll double check that code though just to be sure
  13. To be honest, I only have one synth other than the MB Sid I'm working on that uses NRPNs, an Alesis Micron. The trouble I had with that was getting a VST interface to work correctly so that I could more easily program patches that way rather than using it's infamous one knob interface. It's not completely out of the question to say that I could have had something set up incorrectly. Other than that I love FL and have loads of experience with it. I've been using it since version 2.
  14. There is definately the nostalgia factor for me, I did have one as a kid. But more than that, the Sid chip creates the perfect sound for the music I make, which is mostly electro.
  15. I actually thought the opposite, because FL Studio is my sequencer of choice, and I haven't had much luck getting NRPNs to work correctly in FL thus far. But thankfully, for those of us that want it, TK is graciously working on a fix for that.
  16. here's the code you'll need: ;; number of LCD lines (supported: 2 for 2x* LCDs and 4 for 4x* LCDs) #define DEFAULT_LCD_LINES 4 ;; LCD line -> cursor offsets #define DEFAULT_LCD_LINE_Y0 0x40 #define DEFAULT_LCD_LINE_Y1 0x14 #define DEFAULT_LCD_LINE_Y2 0x00 #define DEFAULT_LCD_LINE_Y3 0x54 Of course you're gonna have to recompile the .hex file after that, but there are instructions on the wiki I think on how to do that. It's not too hard, I was able to fumble through it. :P
  17. Very nice! I had noticed that, but thought it was just something on my end. I'll have to try the new realease when I get home from work today.
  18. I second that. Filter and OSC controls, things like that should be first on the list.
  19. I'm definately excited about this, thanks TK.
  20. You can't be the most inept, I've killed an LCD and somehow a SID module. ;)
  21. I can't wait to see this when it's done, beautiful work!
  22. Yes, you need two Sids for stereo, but if you've got one brown C64 and one grey 'breadbox' C64, you've got two different versions of the Sid chip, a 6581 and an 8580. Whichever you choose to go with, they will need to match. the minimal requirements are listed about 3/4 of the way down the page here: http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_sid_manual_hw.html for stereo you'd need two sid kits, a core, and a din module from Smash's shop. An LCD would be a good idea as well.
  23. ...semantics What I need is a .dxf file for the old style panel. I'm reusing the c64 keyboard case.
  24. Oops, I guess I didn't specify. I'm not building the mb6582, I'm building the modular 6581 version.
