TK. Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 Since the MIDImerger project is still quite popular, I created a new variant which is based on the PIC16F88.Not only that this chip is smaller and cheaper - it's especially possible to use it without external crystal with a sufficient accuracy :)-> http://www.ucapps.de/midimerger.htmlBest Regards, Thorsten.
lukas412 Posted March 27, 2008 Report Posted March 27, 2008 Thanks TK, I was just thinking about a merger. This will be a good reason to build a pic burner.Luke
Pablop Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 Is it possible to program the 16f88 with (JDM + (PicBurner 18f452 to 16f88 adapter) + icprog)compatible with 16f88?I see MBHP burner is compatible, but I have already built the JDM module a long time ago, with many succesful burns of 18f452.Thanks a lot
nILS Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 Note that it has been made for the DIP40 devices' date=' a layout for the newer (and cheaper) PIC16F88 based circuit is not available yet.[/quote']Something like this?
Pablop Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 WOW nils that was lightning FAST!!!! :o :DI was studying the possibility of programming the 16f88 with JDM, and as far as I can see, all of the needed pins in 16f88 are supplied by JDM. Is that enough for JDM to be able to program it? Btw, ICProg has 16f88 in its list.
Davo Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 I wonder... can it support an arbitrary number of input jacks?

TK. Posted March 29, 2008 Author Report Posted March 29, 2008 I wonder... can it support an arbitrary number of input jacks?no - for more inputs you need something like the MIDI Router projectBest Regards, Thorsten.
Pablop Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 Thanx, tilted. Yes, I was talking about that adapter when I said JDM + adpater. So, it works both for mbhp burner and JDM burner? Good!Just as a commentary: I can't seem to find 16f88 at the stores here. It's far easier to find 18f452 or 16f877... I suppose 16f88 is a newer MC?
nILS Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 In case someone's interested:Without sockets:With sockets:
Sasha Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 Thank you Nils, but where are the PCB files?
nILS Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 Right here on my PC. I should have added: PM me, if you're interested. I'll give them them some final touches and possible publish them here (if it's okay with TK)
Sasha Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 I`m not in hurry. I just thought I don`t see it. Do the final touches. ;) Thank you very much for your work.
AndrewMartens Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 Fantastic! Now, I just have to figure out what box to put one into! I foresee a MIDImerger with an 8x output driver in my future ;D
TK. Posted April 3, 2008 Author Report Posted April 3, 2008 The PCBs are look fine, thanks Nils! :)I will put the layouts on my website once the boards have been successfully tested by someoneBest Regards, Thorsten.
nILS Posted May 12, 2008 Report Posted May 12, 2008 I *think* they're done. They still need to be tested by someone. I don't really need the merger just yet, so I won't get around to testing them anytime soon. There's also a layout sketch for a perfboard variant in the .zip file. That's what they look like:merger_boards.zipmerger_boards.zip
