I am trying to figure out how to use the Lemur BLM template. First: do I need to have a wireless router to use it without a computer? Ideally I would like to connect the ipad directly to the hub that is powering the midibox! This only sort of works, in that the USB ports on the Midibox are visible to the ipad and I can start and stop and somewhat edit sequences. However some of the buttons do not work as expected. I suspect it might have to do with the OSC part of the setup, which I do not understand. :) I made a little video showing the best I've gotten it. Notice that the eighth step in the sequence never gets highlighted, it's also unselectable and the 16th step highlights the 9th one! I'm confused. In this case I'm connecting the ipad directly to the USB hub, but the same thing happens if I use a USB to midi adapter and set the BLM port to the MIDI port. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zu42XTUJvVE Thank you !!!

OK thanks TK, switching drums is easier from the trig c selection in edit mode than going back to the event setup. The easiest thing would be the lemur BLM but it seems like some columns are not responsive after the most recent lemur update. I'll look into it more tonight.

Ok another question. Is there a way to change the selected note in drum mode with an encoder? I saw in the old seq v2 drum mode you used to be able to...seems nice. The trigger c thing works ok, but I sort of like the 606 style selection. I often need 2 hands to select a drum.

Hello, as I am plugging things back in to make some new tracks I'm still tempted to use the v4l over my v4 as I believe laying down a loop to be much faster with it. Particularly since I'm using chords. What is the best way to set up my v4 so it is as quick to get to recording as the v4l? Is it possible?

Yes the new lpcxpresso revision moved some pins around for some reason so it's not 1 to 1 with the Lpc board anymore. I would hold off a bit. I also don't expect there to be a new revision to the frontpanel from wilba, I'm not sure where you're getting that.

OK I don't think it's a PPQN setting, I think the voltage coming from IC6 isn't actually +5v on my build. So I'm only level shifting it up to about +4.7v and my 303 is quite picky about getting +5v on the clock pulses. Even when I power the midibox from a laptop it only gets up to about +4.9v. Any ideas? Maybe I just need to build a power adapter to get din sync out.

Is there a setting somewhere for the PPQN? I have added a level shifter but it's still not running at the same tempo. Slowing down the tempo slows the instrument receiving the sync, but it's not quite lined up. More testing to be done tonight and I will post some pictures of my level shifter. Thanks.

I thought you had a 16x4 BLM? Or you want more? BTW, I found that my ipad could act as a USB host for all 4 USB midi channels if you connect the camera connection kit to a USB hub and then the midibox to the hub. Lots to explore there whether it's using the midibox to sequence ipad synths or just syncing ipad apps to the rest of the setup. Unfortunately, I still can't find an ipad interface that will power the ipad, have audio in and out and still leave access to the host functionality.

Please add me to the next batch, didn't realize this was ongoing :D Thank you ilmenator

Individual resistors for the LEDs...you just use a socket and then place the resistors into the socket. I ended up not having to mess with the resistor values myself, but it's easy enough to place a socket first.

Thanks TK, guess I need to finish adding more midi ports!

First, I am trying to get my seq v4 to be sync'd to my v4l over Ethernet by directly connecting the two. Is this even possible without a router? I'm temporarily out of midi ports on both, so I'm trying to use the network adapter to get around this...I've got the IPs set, although my network configuration isn't saving in the session after a power cycle of the v4l. I'm likely going about this the wrong way though... Is anyone else using both at the same time sync'd? PS the duplicate function is amazing! Mmmm

On further reading, of course I need a DOUT...makes sense now thanks
-
Do you need to have a DOUT board to be able to send a trigger to the DOUT chain? I'm not really clear on what the basic setup for adding say 8 trig outs to a wilba midibox seq would be or how that addressing really works. Can anyone enlighten me? I know I've seen seqs with trigger outs but I'm not sure how they were built. Is there anyone who has done this who has a photo? Thank you! Mike

I don't have an aout module myself, but I think the db25 is used mostly for the space savings... nice battlestation :)

Hello. My LCDs from http://www.buy-display.com/ are really starting to annoy me. Basically the viewing angle is garbage. I've rackmounted my SEQ v4 and so I end up viewing the screen from slightly above it and it's just horrible. I still want something that's green on black if possible, any suggestions? Thanks.

I saw similar behavior caused by a reversed LED...double check LED orientations as well

I ended up using song events to dump the mixer maps and just hit play from the song page. I performed with it yesterday and all of the midibox aspects worked flawlessly. Wunderbar.
-
Pattern changes are working great from in the mixer map settings, but is there a way to dump the mixer map when I hit play?
-
I didn't remove the transistors but mine works fine.

My SEQ v4 is complete except for finishing the case and the possibilities are overwhelming and endless. I have a couple of questions coming from use: -What is the best way, or is there a way to move existing patterns from the v4l to the v4? Alternatively, it would be amazing if there were a way to dump an existing pattern from the v4l to the v4. I love using the v4l to build up a pattern but I was quickly running out tracks (which is why I built the V4!) -I've been over the instructions a few times now, but I still do not really understand the purpose of the mixer map. It seems like a mix of the midi router and a track set up, but maybe abstracted a bit? I don't really get it. As an example, I currently have an Airbase99 on channel 10, and so far I've just been using a drum track preset to load the correct instrument mappings, but the line about 'the mixer map function behaves like a MIDI controller' has me intrigued since the interface on the Airbase is basically non-existent. Or is it intended to work like a controller for a digital mixer say (which would explain the volume and panorama but not the reason program changes are here). -In the short term I'm using the v4 to replace some basic midi loop sequencing I was doing with ableton. The one thing I haven't yet figured out how to do with the seq is to send a program change along with a pattern. Basically I'm looking to keep the preset along with the pattern for several synths rather than change them on the synth itself. The mixer map program change does work, so maybe a better understanding of that is all I need. -Lastly, and this is probably not an issue with the midibox actually, but I figured I would mention it: I use a novation remote zero to send sysex to my alpha juno. If I route that *through* the midibox using the midi router eventually the alpha juno gets overloaded and stops receiving midi altogether. If I have the remote zero is connected directly to the alpha juno this never happens. There is no reason really to route that sysex through the midibox, however I also use it to send CCs to various other synths which probably would need to be routed by the SEQ which is why I was doing that in the first place. Anyway...What an absolutely incredible machine. Thank you to TK and the community. Within a week it has become the centerpiece of my little studio and does everything I could dream of and so much more. I'm looking forward to a lot of good times with this beast.

OK, I looked up the shipping to Europe for someone who PM'd me and then decided they didn't want them, they are $24 shipped to Europe. PM me if you're interested.

I have one in the mail, I will post results if I beat Altitude to it. :)

So far I've just put a din out on j28 and didn't measure a voltage at all when there should be 3.3v on run I believe. Then there would be something to level shift anyway.
