  1. I wonder if we are talking about the same site... do you have a link? (actually, just ignore this, cos like you said, they will B expensive)
  2. anyone have any easy to build examples that have worked for them? my mac has a mini din connector, as well as two connectors that look like telephone connectors
  3. funny... I looked at the panasonic direct order site, and couldn't find any motorised sliders at all...
  4. You are such a legend Thorsten! ;D It's true, this man never sleeps! 8) I can see the net slowly kicking off a diy revolution... the new industry leaders will be those who can supply us with the best, most cost effective components! as well as custom PCB manufacture.... And it was this man who started it on the biggest scale!! bye, from Steve
  5. after another hour of tweaking, I think that these faders don't have enough startup torque... only solution I can think of is re-winding the motors, considering I have 8 spare damaged faders, this might be worth trying... but the ends of the armature turnings are probably spot welded on though. And the motors will probably need more current if they are modified... anyone have any suggestions?
  6. could I try putting some caps in somewhere to suppress the PWM control of the motors, in case it is leaking into ain? or is that a waste of time? btw too much coffee... me or you? ;)
  7. Hmmm... I'll take a deep breath and try some new settings (again!) but I might wait until tomorrow. (have to open the case again!) I have been keeping the voltage high, as I think sometimes when the faders have to move only a little, they don't have enough torque to move, and instead they just stay where they are, and this is what logic thinks the new position... but don't believe that for now, I'll try changing the voltage soon. (I just tried MF dBand 5, ain 3, as well as mf 3 and ain1, like you suggested, but .....
  8. Well, what are they? ......I love the jog wheel on LC, it makes edits so fast on the Logic arrange page. (BTW, what is the best way to get your own samples into exsp24? (not exs24) I tried to import sf2 that I made in vienna soundfont, but no joy....)
  9. use a multimeter to work out which is which. Find out if 2 of them are connected to each other on the inside, using the ohms ranges and continuity test. You will know when you have found the two end pins , as when you have the meter probes on each of these, you will always measure 10kohm no matter where the slider is. good luck! __________________+5v fixed pin | | | | | |<-------------- wiper pin | | | |__________________ 0v fixed pin
  10. This is what seems to happen during use... I switch fader sets, the faders move to their new positon, however, they move to within about 3-4 mm of where they should stop. (total range of about 6-8 mm) then, shortly after, (usually within a second) the value changes on the computer screen by even up to 6 midi values sometimes!. This really sounds like a jitter problem, but I can't see how, as the deadband is 5 for both motor and ain (I changed it back to what you suggest) Judging by your jitter monitor, I am not getting enough jitter for this to happen... ??? oh well.... I still think this controller is cool though! ;) bye, from Steve
  11. does anyone know where to find it? thanks
  12. Hey TK, man you are so qwuick! BTW... your post above my last one in this thread wasn't visible to me until today... wierd! I uploaded your new jitter monitor, and there seems to be no jitter at all, when the faders are stationary, which is kinda wierd. hmmm bye, from Steve (you seem to place your posts in stealth mode these days)
  13. where are you located? if it is urgent, then maybe someone else can do it for you...
  14. Wow! this is so cool! I only wish I had the time to make it!!! (I've still got to find time to build my tb3030 kit that I bought 2 yrs ago!! but probably quicker and easier to build SIDs though!! and I gotta find time to make some music! Thorsten, I really don't know how you do it man! When will we see you on the front cover of Sound on Sound, or Keyboard or Mix magazines? ;D ... Steve
  15. Hey TK, thanks for the reply! I have since increased my power supply capacity, and noticed slight improvemens in jitter factor. My 'box is now good enough to use without worrying about my mixes getting messed up! Though I look forward to such features ahead in the future! BTW, even though it goes against logical thought, I still feel my 'box goes better when I set MF deadband lower than AIN value, I do AB tests, to check which value works better, before settling on a value. But I'll be trying Alps faders soon, if Rowan in NZ can hook me up with a good deal!! (LO will probably remind me of how well his panasonics go again now!) bye, from Steve ;D P.S. Hey TK, I am so happy now that I have a great system jto work with, instead of the mouse!! I'll post you a pic soon. (gotta borrow a proper camera, my digital keyring camera is bad!)
  16. Sounds like a cool feature, TK! Having used the Fairlight prodigy system, I guess I expect everything to be so smooth and precise! (the Amek faders on the Prodigy never hit the bottom hard, only softly, but then again fairlight have been building equipment for probably 20 years or something!.... Not that I like the fairlight system.... I don't like its operation at all... but maybe it will seem better as I learn more about it... it is not straightforward to learn!!!) actually, in practice, the faders rarely hit the bottom at all, only really when opening and closing projects... and then you can manually move them down anyway. But it will sure be a nice feature to have! bye, from Steve.
  17. as a very rough workaround, I have added resistors like this..... ________________ +5v rail  | []  470ohms  |  |  | | | | |<--------- 10kohm fader wiper pin to ADC | |  | _|______________ 0v rail this has the effect offsetting the positioning of the fader, but a side effect is that you can only reach a midi value of 123 at top of travel, not 127.  TK, if you put shottky diode between 0v and pins of PIC, I wonder if pic is getting enough voltage? I guess you could hand pick a 7805, as these seem to vary up to 5.3v anyway.  I am setting Logic to work only with bit values of 7 bit anyway, so as to avoid jitter, and occasionally the fader will only go down to 1, and not 0, but this is not really a hassle! BTW TK, I hope you had a great holiday!! I think you should schedule regular breaks from this forum, as you do so much for us already! But then again, I'm not going to complain if someone helps me so much like this!! ;D bye, from Steve
  18. hey A, Â if you are going to use that 18V 4A, check the voltage is what it says it is! My 12v1.6A PSU is really 16V! So I put an extra LM317 before the 7805, dropping it down to 10V, so as not to cook the 7805. (Would have used a 7812 instead, but I didn't have a spare) Â I also tried out my 10A supply today, just for jokes! the faders seemed a bit smoother, even speed, but I think the PS is noisier electrically, (it looks like maybe 30 or more years old!!!!) as I got a bit of jitter. (I went back to the 1.6A) Â im tired sllepy and should be asleep. Im ging now!!! yeah I m happy now awith my LC! ;D tHANDKS TK AND ALL!
  19. yes, there was an early firmware release for midibox 64, that was very basic. It lacks a lot of useful features (no bankstick, no snap mode (like soft takeover) and I think later versions had better jitter rejection. This release also used an older circuit, and the documentation was different. (not on the website anymore.... look in the archive.) I really don't see any reason to go for this, as what extra feature does this have over your mb16+?
  20. For me it would eliminate the jitter problem, this has been bugging me for a couple of years :( But my MB LC is behaving a lot better now that I upgraded to a 1.6A psu.... though I seem to be the only one with this problem nowadays....? My brother just reminded me that I have a 10A 12V PSU sitting in the garage, which I had forgotten about, it's a beast! but pretty old, so I hope it's not too noisy... I'm gonna try it out though. (I bought it for only AU$10 at a garage sale!!) BTW, I think the fun would wear off pretty early in the development!! bye, from Steve
  21. Hey Basta! haven't seen you 'round for a bit. You gettin more mf's soon? Hey, I can give that spare one back to you if you want it to check out your circuits.... The power for the mf's comes regulated by the LM317, not the 7805, so 7805 will be fine. A beefier power supply will be ok, e.g 2A, (sorry Ian) as the circuit will only draw the current that it needs. try your 1.2A supply with 8 mf's first, before seeing if it will power 16 of them. The regulator will only get cooked if the circuit draws more than it is designed for, but connecting a bigger supply (e.g 2A) to it is ok. Just because a supply is rated at 2A dosen't mean it will supply 2A all the time, it only supplies what the load is drawing. (I wrote a good explanation on this in another post somewhere) I would use a LM317 regulator on each mf board
  22. I would just try uploading the mios anyway.... just open midiox, View>>Sysex File>>Send Sysex locate the mios.syx file (might be named slightly different, can't remember???) and highlight it. turn on midibox, wait for the F0 00 00 7E 40 00 F7 message, then, within 2 seconds, press 'open' in midiox then install the application ltc.... dunno, never built one. If there are any small parts that you need, that can be posted in an envelope, then I can send them to you if they are only worth a dollar or so... email me... loonatron@yahoo.com did you say you had tried it on another pc? good luck... Steve
  23. Ok, I think it has something to do with selecting the audio mix group. I'll go and have a read.... I really dunno what I'm doing here!! (ex protools user!) I got logic just to use the Logic control emu. (Just kidding! he he!)
  24. Hey, does anyone know why logic (audio 5, pc)is only letting me control the first 8 audio tracks? it won't let me use the bank buttons to get to the other tracks. (jumps straight to audio instruments section) It's as if Logic thinks I'm using two LC's. (yes I've checked the control surfaces setup page) cheers...Steve
