  1. I recall someone asking a similar question, but they were getting 5.8volts, to which Thorsten replied that it was too much. My midibox 64 runs ok on 5.1volts. I think you should try a new voltage regulator (7805), as some of them vary a bit. I always check the voltage regulator output before I build the rest of the circuit. The pic series chips are pretty tough, so I don't think you would have hurt the pic. Thats as much knowledge that I can share, i'm afraid
  2. cool, sounds like the midibox platform will serve your needs perfectly then! ;D bye, from steve
  3. Hey! the navigation on Thorsten's website is great, and the new MIOS intro page makes it even better! so easy to follow! Thanks Thorsten, and it isn't even my birthday! :D
  4. oops, I'll make it a habit to regularly check out the faq page, cos it says that pic18c etc, is write once only!
  5. I don't think building a midi keyboard is a viable option.......where are you getting the keys from........and what about the velocity sensors.......midi is not just on and off data (though any midibox on Thorsten's sit can be used to do this with pushbuttons) there are sensors in a real midi keyboard that sense the speed that you hit the keys at, and good ones have aftertouch sensors too. But this is just advice, its up to you. (I dunno whether velocity is possible with these designs though) bye, from Steve 8)
  6. shouldn't it be a cny172 optocoupler? :-/
  7. Hi everyone in Sydney Australia! :D :D well it all seemed really hard to me to order from farnell, as I thought you needed to have a credit card or an account to buy from Farnell in 72 Ferndell St Chester Hill. well I can't order through work anymore, as I left that place, but today I found out that all I had to do was - 1 - ring 1300 361 005, tell them part numbers of what you want, they ask for a business name, but just give them your name instead. they ask you to make up an order number, so I just used my initials and todays date. Tell them you want to pick up the goods at the trade counter as a cash sale. They will then give you a reference number. 2 - go for a drive to chester hill, by the time you get there, the goods will be waiting for you at the counter! (give them the reference number of your order) 3 - part with some cash, and walk away with your bits you just bought! note that they will only sell you goods if you ring first! they don't have pic18f452....bummer (they have pic18c452.... would this work?) but they do have the following....M24256 cat no... 111284 pic16f877-20 (3002731) 20Mhz crystal(569902) 10k linear slider(150 477) everything else is available from Jaycar except rotary encoders well I hope this helps someone!! ;D bye from Steve
  8. Good, I'm glad to see you covering your work against being 'stolen' :)
  9. Thanks for the reply Thorsten! :) bye from Steve
  10. Does the LC emulation use the standard MBHP modules? if so, which ones?
  11. this is awesome news Thorsten, Thanks! ;D I can't wait for my parts to arrive!
  12. :) Yeah, Thorsten this site is just great! probably the best I've seen! I pray that you will be blessed for your generosity! ;D
  13. Raf, glad to hear you finally got it to work! sounds like you were very patient!

  15. well, you could combine a controller keyboard into a case with your midibox, just use the midimerger project to combine the two outputs. If you need to add a pitchbend wheel, and modulation wheel, maybe you could use the joysticks from an old 2 stick radio control tansmitter. ;)
  16. Thanks for the reply, LO! ;D It's interesting to note what combinations of things have worked well for people! ;)

    Baby Hui

Thanks for that info! :) Good luck!
  18. ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) why is it so easy to syncronise smiley faces on a forum, and so hard to syncronise midi/smpte datastreams? ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) technology never makes sense! :P
  19. Koool! thanks for the replies guys! ::) LO, did you do the motorfader extension project? or one of the newer ones with LC/Mackie/Houston emulation? as for the prices Notherndude, thanks! I'll pull out my Farnell catalogue, and see how they compare to those prices you quoted! :P bye, from Steve ::) ;)
  20. you will find an extensive, easy tutorial on sending and receiving sysex using midi ox, on Thorsten's web page :)
  21. JDM should work, if you follow the programming instructions on Thorsten's website to the letter! I was getting the same errors, until I followed the instructions properly. You need to check the CONFIGURATION pages on IC PROG, if still no joy, there is a step by step walkthrough on this forum, with screenshots of what it should look like. try this, and I'm sure it will work! if not, then requst help from here again. ;D

is hui compatability possible? or is it better to use Mackie or LC or houston emulaton? just wondering thats all. (sorry, I don't have an english/deutchland dictionary handy!)
  24. I dunno if its switching or linear type, but I powered an analogue audio mixer project from an old Amiga PSU, which was very quiet for audio. :) it was handy, cos it has +/- 12v and 5v outputs ;)
  25. btw, I'm the same steve as steve_c. bummer... aparrently I'm a newbie again!! :P i'll have to make some irrelevant posts to get my numbers up! ;)
