  1. A big round of applause for Mr Haze! Superb work. Am I reading right that it can also be configured as 4 mono ins mixed to 4 mono outs (or one stereo master and two mono sends)?
  2. This guy - Joel Turner - auditioned for Australian Idol a couple of seasons ago. They didn't ask him on to the competition, but they did have him back for a guest spot during the season and at the finale concert.
  3. Or separate boards with grounded metal shields
  4. Call this the "before" shot ... Hopefully the "after" won't be too far away
  5. Awesome track
  6. Yay, just what I was thinking, pretty much. There's a crappy ASCII workflow diagram above. Only thing I'd alter would be that the target bottoms should be along the bottom so your hand doesn't cover the display while you're patching.
  7. Brother can you spare a knob? :) They look rather nice BTW that is one scary looking panel
  8. /edit/ Doc, I think he was talking to me there... Sure they'll scale - you just add more 8x8 LED matrices. You'll note my sig ;D Seriously though, they're just ideas, scribblings, working thoughts - I've got no attachment to them
  9. Nah man, it goes more like this: Notice AD IC on ebay: gets stuck in the back of the brain and nags away Get idea for 8 channel comp for drums Then get excited about modular FX Start making notes Get distracted learning Google Notebook and mucking about in ASCII Remember IC: decide it's crucial to modular FX rack Make more notes Check unread posts and discover the first post in this thread Share This is why I never finish anything... but if I can contribute to something that gets finished I'm more than happy.

  13. Are none of the modules working?
  14. Have a look for a Roland (or Edirol) Sound Canvas. Even the earliest models have quite nice sounds, and if you get into the NRPNs they're pretty tweakable. They even do half decent analogue synth impressions. And they'll have drums and a smattering of FX as well.
  15. Well, first thing I was planning to do was to mount the SMT AD chip onto a small PCB with 0.1" pins underneath, so I can plug it into different prototype carrier boards without mucking about with surface mount soldering.
  16. Ken Stone has some thoughts: Cascade Mixer C.V./Audio Mega Mixer D.C. Mixer Dev-mod Mixer/Inverter block 5 x 5 Matrix Mixer
  17. Hmm, good question. I'm going to have to think a bit more clearly about that. /edit/ but the OP did request it anyone seen Nomical? Hmmm, a 16x16 mixer on an IC sounds like a big call. And 256 discrete digipots with addressing ..... :P As an aside, I should mention that I'm looking at something that can route CV and/or audio. Oh and TK you big tease:
  18. stryd: octopart's still showing over 1000 available.
  19. They're still available from AD
  20. So if you use this you have to make up your own buffers, and if you use the 8113 you have to somehow make up for
  21. Found another one: Analog Devices AD75019JP (PDF). I don't know if it's a current production part, but octopart lists 5 stockists. There's 10 9 ;D available on ebay.au
  22. How do you handle summing though if you use relays? Wouldn't a transistor/op-amp based approach be better?
  23. Found one: using Chipdir and Octopart. It's the Mitel MT8808 (PDF) 8 x 8 Analog Switch Array I've never heard of Mitel (/edit/ turns out they changed their name to Zarlink) before but at least this proves such things exist, or existed. There are probably some other leads in these Chipdir categories: Analog Switch Mixer Switch
  24. GHAH >:( So much for that idea. I'm going to keep hunting for a suitable IC or combination of ICs. Sorry for the red herring.
