connection of the control surface increases noise a lot!!
stryd_one replied to bosone's topic in MIDIbox SID
That was then, this is now. It's quite possible it got zapped while you worked on the box. I thought the same, but a multimeter will tell us with more certainty. Good luck with the test PSU! -
LOL!! Quote from: foona on tomorrow at ??:??:??

Cool page that one. I just beefed it up a bit.... I'm sure there's a lot that we aren't thinking of. I found that I could never remember what Vss/Vdd/Vlmnopq meant, until I learned what the abbreviations meant.: Vcc - Collector Vee - Emitter Vdd - Drain Vss - Source/Supply. Depends who you ask. (Buß.) What are they talking about? Electrons, ie, negative charge. HTH!

Getting a more powerful regulator won't help because the ones you have now are max 1.5A and the PSU is only 1A... I think you're going to need a new PSU :( That is assuming that there's not a short somewhere of course..... -
Well, they've got a new firmware in progress at the moment, which increases speed, and introduces some new features, I suspect that IIC may be one of them... But it still works with SPI in the meantime. While they're focussing on the new firmware, they aren't shipping to distributors, but sparkfun had these for $12, and I read a fairly recent forum post saying something about a $5 price (probably in large quantities).... They also have a note there saying that they will take inquiries about stock in the meantime. I suspect that a community like ours could arrange a decent size bulk buy of these, and maybe we could provide some useful assistance to them with testing the IIC interface? Could be a win-win situation....

Heheh I think you mean snaffle :) SNAFU is different, that's what you call it when you miss out on a group buy ;D

I have other sequencers that kick this thing's butt, why worry about onboard seq? :) Actually I prefer it as a sound module only, but the x0x is supposed to sound a fair bit nicer than the others.... -

There's no place like home...There's no place like home... wait, wrong shoes... -
Oh that explains it. You could try increasing the SR update speed but... That's really something bet suited to your custom app.
-
I'm pretty familiar with rackmount cases, I work in a building with many thousands of them :) If it's a custom case why not extend it by 2mm? Given that a DAW should use passive cooling, you'll want to make some more space in there anyway.

Yeh my problem is that I lack the time for that kind of investment... I can maybe find time to solder a kit but hunting rare parts? No way... -
[img width=400]http://www.blackmountaincable.com/images/2007pinspower2.jpg Those audiophile tinfoil hat guys make some pretty power cables... Have a google for words like power and audiophile or hi-fi or braid, you'll find them....

Yeh, it's totally all my fault. Using one smiley, and assuming you weren't totally paranoid wasn't enough. I shoulda used three big grinning smileys and said "THIS IS A JOKE" with the marquee tag, and sent you a PM asking for your address so I could send you flowers with a note reminding you that I don't have beef with you. I'm sorry. Whatever was I thinking? ;D ;D ;D THIS IS SARCASM Oh look you edited your post again. Arrrgh, your telling jokes that are most likely understood by people which got to know you better... That's rude, BTW :-) If I can laugh my ass off while reading your posts, we'll have a good time. You added: You can be rude. Thats ok. You want rude? I'll give you rude. You're a d*ck. F*ck off. Edit: just put *'s in those rude words. I dunno who's kids read these forums.

Ahh crap really? Dammit I shoulda gotten in on this buy too! It always frustrated me that you need to be an active reader of their forum while sitting on an indefinite wait list. I don't mind waiting, but that's a bit much. Now I've got a spot on a list for a kit I can't build hahaha -
Here, have a rinse, I mean chaser.
-
Be confident man, I can tell that you had it figured out already :) Don't worry, I go to the chat room to get these guys to give me a pat on the head too: "yes, stryd, it'll work, now off you go"

Doh! I'm not sure what version of core (V1?) Tor was using, but that info is now outdated. I don't blame you for missing it, but the parts list on Tor's guide has been removed with the following note: Check out the core module page: So, not knowing how your PSU is designed, I'd say you're in luck, just be sure that the core is fully stuffed with rectifier, regulator, caps etc... Or you could keep that PSU for your SID ;)

You sure those are the exact words? I think not. We could find out, but I think we all have better things to do with our time. Fact is, regardless of the words you used, I found it to be rude. Even still, it's not like I told you off or anything, so what's your beef? I know it was only up for like 30 seconds, it changed in the time it took me to copy and paste doc's user info from the left column, which is four clicks and a page load for me. I like to feed trolls, they make funny noises when they eat. I was the same before i was a mod and I'll be the same when TK sacks me :) Seriously though, what do you want me to do? To walk away without giving you the respect of a conversation is just rude. I like to think that you'll realise what a dork you're being, and get back on the midibox train :) If you just keep being a dork, that's when I'll slap you down and walk away. OT nonsense? throwing stones? aggressor? Ah, that was a JOKE! See the smiley? Newsflash: that means I'm smiling! ;D You need to take a chill pill dude. What you said was rude, but removing it was cool. I was being friendly and making light of the screwup you made. If you never make screwups... would you like to walk across the water and turns this water into wine for me? :D It's not whether a person screws up - How someone handles their screw-ups, is what makes the man. If your next post had been something like "that came out all wrong" we could have all had a laugh, but you're buggin. Is that the job of a moderator? I don't give a damn, I'm stryd_one; always, whether moderator or newb or in real life. I like to have fun, I like to joke around, and that's what I was doing. It's what I always do and I'm unlikely to stop any time soon. I also like to give people a fair go, and if they continue to be disrespectful I like to slap them down. But what you may not realise is that I'm not your usual form of moderator. I'm not the boss around here or anything, TK is. I'm just a moderator so I can keep the place tidy, and the reason it's me and not someone else is that I'm around a lot. I'm nothin' special, just a glorified janitor :) So even if I'm going to give someone a mouthful, my moderator status plays no part. That's just me, doing what I always do. I'll just diss you, and that doesn't need moderator rights. Ahh, yeh you did. Chill out dude, you're in the wrong place for these vibes.

It's not so bad if you're into having your balls in a fed's hand. Oops I left my politic switch in the ON position....deleted. Ontopic, I wanted to take it as hand luggage, and they wouldn't let me, so I was not happy with the handling, although yes, it's better than standard luggage. I always take the good stuff on as hand luggage (carry-on), since my ex told me the story of when she was forced to allow luggage to be put in the cargo hold...... she watched her crate of rare vinyl from the airplane window being thrown into the hold, after sitting in the rain for 10 minutes.

Ahh okay the rendered image made them look like they might have had special ends... These are cloned to death, you can find them everywhere, in a lot of very different feels, and degrees of build quality. If I'm getting it right, you want the type that will hold in the centre on a detent, but with a gentle push, will leave the detent, and are spring-loaded to jump to either extremity of the throw? I *think* NKK have some like that....
-
I'm sure you could do some firmware mods to make the app think it's talking to one pair (of channels on the OPL3, not the YAC!) when it's talking to the other.... But honestly I'm not interested in spending time on that, when the real solution is to get it right in the first place ;)

A web based virtual studio kinda thingy with some 909's and such. Musical toy on steroids. I think we actually mentioned the original version of this site, a while bark on this forum, when they had just a 303 and/or 909... It's good to see it's still rolling along. I'm not sure what it's supposed to be used for, but as timewasters go, they don't get a lot cooler.
