  1. Guruness!! ;D nILSGuru.JPG
  2. Ahhh sysex implementations. That one's a pearler. The downsides are obvious (having to send/recieve full blocks and do manual bounds checking - I'm guessing they were low on program space) but I guess it's a big upside that they included the structs! I think those extra lines are a typo, you can cut them out. This implementation is suitable for librarian functions but not for live editing, sorry dude :(
  3. I'll take 4. ;D Yeh well maybe this might be more flexible, and I wouldn't have to give up a SID channel :) Looking forward to seeing this one grow! MP3's!! ;D
  4. Could it be, that someone is building the Sherman-killer that I've imagined so many times? ;D
  5. Silence... sounds good to me.tm ;)
  6. Welcome aboard Luigi. May I suggest that you use the search engine? I'm sure this has been discussed before ;) Anyhow, you can use the C language to write an application that will modify velocity data as it passes from midi in to midi out. The most basic implementation would take just a core module and a couple of hours to write the program, the most complex...well that is up to you ;)

    Ouch

.... This video should be titled: "Being smart enough to steal $1500 worth of software does not make you smart enough to handle an audio track without trashing it or to know what mastering is" Yeh, f**kin AM radio :D I'm still trying to figure out if this is a joke or not heheh
  8. Hehehe that's a new one! :D
  9. LMFAO Word em up Wilba!!
  10. [glow=red,2,300]I just farted.[/glow] Sorry for OT, I just thought I should say something of substance ... before this became 6 pages of pointless argument where neither side was ever going to change their mind. I would hate for that to happen. :-* PS: Only I may use the glow tag. hahahhahah
  11. I think this is well and truly under control now but... http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/mios_pin_list will show you a list of pins and their usage so you can tell if you can use a pin depending on your hardware...
  12. That's what txt and ins files are for :) (ins for the PC, txt for you) I keep a printed copy in the CD jacket. I guess that'll depend on your sampler... Most of my drum samples go into an akai s2000 and it has enough mapping options that I've never had a problem. Hint for ya: Group stuff by octaves too, because most controllers let you jump up/down an octave with a single button push ;) Yeh I have a few drumsynths from that era. They don't make em like they used to (unless you count the machinedrum). I sold my drumulator though ;)
  13. Alas that's all they've got going for them... The 'click' is bad in feel and in sound.. I hate that kli-klik kliklik. Drives me mad. (in computer mice too ughhhh) The "quiet" MECs can fit most of the MEC actuation options, and they are way nice. Unfortunately it seems that they don't make any stock switches in that variant, so you have to do a custom run to see them in action. I've been planning on trying to get some samples one day.... the LTS are like normal tacts. Already way done, things like this are part of my selection criteria. Tact-alike. The LTS are lighter touch of course :) Nah the LTS are meant as a normal tact replacement. Most real-life implementations are on pro gear with custom actuation. That's still a significant difference, it's 62% more, and the LTS are also meant to be quieter than normal tacts. Nice idea :)
  14. Awww i saw drum patch and thought it was a synthesis question, you tricked me! FWIW my answer is simple: f*** the 'standard' and do what works best for the songs. Yes, there are some standards for EG following what the vdrum kits output, but IMO (and i am an opinionated SOB) that's a mess. The best way, musically speaking but perhaps not practically speaking, will always have to be modified for each individual song. But...not everyone likes to do things the best musical way ;)
  15. Barf. I agree with everything you said but tacts are not the answer. They feel like crap. Regards, Your local neighbourhood tact switch hater ;D Edit: I should say something positive... Has anyone tried either the MEC "Quiet" variant, or the panasonic LTS (Light Touch Switch)? These are tact-like, tact-cheap, tact-size, but supposedly non-clicky... Meanwhile I'm swaying more and more towards capacitative touch sensors for switches... I just don't know enough about it :/ The datasheets for the driver IC's make it look pretty easy though.....
  16. You can use the midi signal from the normal MIOS startup to do that... maybe your LED code is not working so well...
  17. Well I'm not in EU, but FWIW... I already have a speakjet but - I thought your 6 Euro was for shipping only, not for the chip as well! That's insanely cheap, I'll take one at that price for sure - but if someone else wants it I will happily give it up because I don't really need it. As for the LCD's, well I have been meaning to do a bulk order of these LCDs myself for a long time now. I will be interested and I will get a few so it should be good for the price breaks... but I am not super-rich right now so timing will be tricky... if it's too soon I won't have the money yet :-\ Edit: With the numbers we cet it might be best to go direct to optrex. I've had a few suppliers lined up, but we'll see which would be best when we have the desired numbers of each part..
  18. I love those fun milestones... I think the most fun is when you see some code you wrote generating sound... it's like "hey wow I did that!"... Won't be long Lief ;)
  19. Let me know if there's any hassle and I'll see if I can help out.
  20. Mmmm, super chameleon. I think you just have to set off a nuke near it's island and then it grows or something ;)
  21. That's a hot new toy dude!! My oath. Thanks man!
  22. I aint payin! Gimme my chips! ;D
  23. Welcome aboard ak! LOL yeh.. what, don't you have a 36" monitor? I do like the big renders though, makes it a bit easier to picture in real life... I still reckon a rack mod would be do-able, if the PCB were in two sections.... Rack mod or not, this is hot. Uhm... seeing as you're going all-out... Have you considered digitally controlling the mixer and feedback? Would be a shame to have full automation of everything but that... You could do it on the cheap and easy with digipots, cause zipper noise (which is only theoretical and may not be that bad in practice anyway) is unlikely to be an issue when it's a static setting like that. How about moving the shift button over near the modwheel so you can shift+spin with one hand? Aesthetically speaking it looks great, but some of the grouping of controls seems a little strange to me. Like, the Left and right channel buttons being on the opposite side to the engine and oscillator selectors... or (reading left to right/top to bottom as we do) the filters being before the LFO and the mixer before the oscillators... or the volume and feedback being together (you'd normally set the feedback when you're configuring the oscillator, at the beginning of the signal chain... Think of feedback is an input instead of an output...but you'd set the output volume last) or octave and arp buttons being separated.... Do you know what I mean? It would take a bit of rearranging to get around these things though of course :-\
  24. Derr I'm daft, should have read before I posted...Sorry :-[ I must admit that as I typed I was thinking, that error sounds like a wiki bug from the server move (someone did say that it was read-only), but I've just tested it out and it's working OK, so I guess it is a permissions thing. .... Except that I've just discovered that I don't have permission to delete stuff from the wiki. Doh! ;D [me=stryd_one]calls out.... "smaaaa-aaaaaaaaaaaash?"[/me] hahhahaha
