  1. Heya Snork, At a glance, anjuta seems to be a suitable candidate for an IDE. You just need to find a way to have it run the make file, then you should be set :) Probably the easiest way is to use a normal text editor and doubleclick the make file ;)
  2. Sounds interesting, and I don't think we're hijacking ;) So go on... what was the problem you had?
  3. :o <jokes> MIDIBoxers, it is with great sorrow in my heart that I speak to you on this solemn occasion. We all are aware that TK was carved from pure electrons by the Creator to write code, and thus has invincible fingers. It is for this reason then, that we gather today - not to mourn, but to celebrate the heroic self sacrifice, made by TK's keyboard collection. My Eulogy would not be complete if I did not mention the proud elite soldiers of the ASM Squadron - M, O, V, L, W, B, F, S, R, space and enter. I hope that you will all join me in a moment's silence. ;D
  4. Hey guys, Anyone else here use the RSS feed? I've just noticed that it's broken, and now that I think of it, I've had my reader disabled for a while now, so it could have been broken for some time... Not sure if it's just me though... Any thoughts? Cheers!
  5. Welcome aboard just_go :D You must have somehow missed the sticky topic that said not to post such things in the User Projects forum, so I've moved this to Design Concepts. This topic has been covered many times in the past, I'm sure you'll find a lot of information if you use the search link up there. I should say, that if the UC33 is just what you need, it will be cheaper and easier to buy one of those.... Making a DIY controller is something you might want to do if you have a specific need which is not filled by any commercially available device. Funny you should mention the Maven, as it is stolen midibox IP. That's a topic best left alone, I think ;)
  6. Don't worry about dual concentric pots, that's just two pots in one box. The only thing you really need to worry about is the resistance. I think you'll be fine, some people have used a few >10k values before, I think you're safe to order.
  7. Well your acid lines are great, but this one was nice and fat just the way it was, thank you :) I'm looking forward to using this for those big 80's style string solos like yours :)
  8. Yeh, bump! I liked this idea, I hope it's still cruising along. No rush of course, I'm many things but not a hypocrite ;) If I can help please let me know. julien: If you want to record the data you save it to memory as it is received. You use the clock to run a counter, which you can use to address the memory. There are lots of caveats, that's a very simplified description ;)
  9. I've just done a bit of a cleanup... The page was named "Encoders_pots" which is not such a good name as it can cause confusion. I should digress for a moment and remind everyone to be mindful of the things they upload and create - there's a jpg there called "backpanel.jpg" for example... Not a great name, as it could be a back panel for anything. It should be something descriptive like JoeBloggs_CoolController_Backpanel.jpg.... I thought about calling the new page 'eagle_encoders_pots', but there is no page for Eagle itself, so I've created it (in the hope that some more skilled users will fill it up!) and put the libraries there, and uploaded the files to the wiki from your zip. http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/cadsoft_eagle :)
  10. 25k will probably be fine. This topic seems to get covered a lot, but there are 5 pages of search hits to sift through... Maybe you'd like to gather the info that has been given and put it on the wiki? Anyway, basically the bigger value can introduce noise but 25k should be alright...
  11. Even if there was ready-made info available, this won't be much use in midibox land, sorry!
  12. Honestly, I think it would be unwise not to.... There are very good reasons why Wilba ripped his off completely.
  13. Sometimes? I've never heard anyone not call it K&R ;)
  14. I for one would love to take advantage of someone else's hard work on this ;) heheheh
  15. I assume you already googled 'momentary footswitch' and got lots of hits for commercial controllers and no parts, right? Well what do DIY dudes care about that the musician doesn't? Specs! Try googling for http://www.google.com.au/search?safe=off&q=momentary+SPST+footswitch ;)
  16. a sid can't sound that good. 6 can, though! :) I must admit, I was rubbing my hands with glee to hear this one.. I was expecting a typical TK arp line, only *6 :D
  17. Money is easier for some than others....
  18. PS, Bozak, because you're new, and I'm nice, I didn't delete your crosspost. Next time, you won't be new, and I won't be nice ;D
  19. Welcome aboard dude. What software will you be controlling? If you really do a lot of scratching I think you'd be used to that by now! ;) Nope You'll need to write a serial buss driver for it. It's SPI-like from the massive 2 seconds I looked at it. I don't agree on this front.... I think that's maybe true on a mixing desk, but when it comes to turntablism the audio goes to @$^& a long time before the feel of the fader... Although often you get a 'crunchy spot' where you can feel the damage that makes the fader noisey/leaky/drop out. It's meost often due to corrosion and the big one is dust/grit. Tiny bits of dirt get in there and because the fader is moving fast, they punch holes in things when they hit. I dunno... Because there's no electronics near the slider rods you could keep them really heavily lubed up. The 256 step version is out, but the 1024 one is still a rumour for now. Most turntablists use the upfaders almost as much as the xfaders... Which always makes me wonder why ppl only talk about fast xfaders around here! Usually that's the wiper (that contacts the taper) getting bent up and contacting two points on the taper at once. That's a crap fader. I've seen turntablists absolutely abuse new faders for a few weeks solid with no rest and they were only just starting to go funky... Not really. This question is often asked and never answered. I'm sure you will hear a few "I use this one and it's quite good but (I've never had any others to compare it to) / (I've only compared it with this one other model..) and a few "this one has good specs" (infinium) Someone needs to be a pioneer and do some research, talk to numark and technics and such, find out what they use, what their tech is, spend on an infinium or two to test it out, do homework on lubrication and cleaning/foreign object protection, try it with different DJ's to get different styles on it, put it all together, and become "that guy who busted his chops for months and finally found us the best DIY DJ fader" :) Until then it's voodoo :( If you decide to be that guy, just remember that DJ audio mixer faders are log curve, not linear, so they aren't usable in a midibox. Or maybe you want to pioneer a log - linear conversion circuit, so peeps can just drop in their favourite mixer fader .... I bet you're wishing you didn't ask right now huh ;)
  20. It also helps if you have TK's gigantic brain. ;)

    Reaper2

Yeh I've been quietly watching Reaper for a while...On a similar note is Temper. It's more MIDI than audio focussed (a rare gem these days). If you're on Windows and you used to use Logic's Environment to it's fullest, you'll have been missing a few features, and you might like this... The beta is a full featured freebie, and when it goes 1.0 they'll start charging 50 bucks for it. I don't know if it's much good (you know how I am with software) but it sure is looking nice!
  22. 33 posts to doom! Wait, 32! AHH!
  23. Not quite what I said but you're close enough ;) The lot of 300 was a different knob from a different place and they were delivered in a cardboard tray and a snake of mini tear-off plastic bags heheh I can't remember how the albs knobs got here, but the point was that it was small. I think you'd easily fit 500 in an A4/Letter sized envelope or maybe two if you have a bit of padding.
  24. Close your eyes, breathe in and out, slowly, and calmly, and prepare yourself.... to contemplate the unimaginable idiocy required to make 4000...
