CLOSED: Black Re'an P401 Soft-touch knobs - 39 cents each
nebula replied to nebula's topic in Bulk Orders
I had no idea counting knobs could be this much fun ... These knobs will arrive packaged in repurposed bags or envelopes. The Canadian mailout will be in a couple of days ... the US mailout will be in a couple more days. Sorry, no better estimates than that at this time. I am also preparing for a gig right now at a festival in northern Ontario, Canada, which will render me unavailable from sometime Wednesday until Sunday. I will do my best to get everything out by Wednesday, but if I can't, it will go out on Sunday or Monday at the latest. By the way: the knobs are excellent. I checked a couple to make sure they fit on my MS2000, which they do, perfectly. And they feel great. -

Wow ... 2800 Knobs received. Pics to follow shortly. All should be sent out within a week - I will keep you posted! -
I would volunteer to do this but I just don't want the confusion while I'm trying to do the Re'an stuff. I'd be willing to pay a little extra if that's what it takes to be handled from North America. If nobody takes this on within a few weeks, I will, simply because I need some of these.

^^ Derrick May's afterparty on Saturday night rocked my world. I had never seen Terrence Parker live before, and he was fantastic. Wasn't too big on Saturday night's live Carl Craig set - great vibe goin' on, but he managed to take a groove that would make a nice 4-minute record and stretched it into an hour-long live set. Alex Smoke - genius. Josh Wink - Bumpin. Stacy Pullen - I never knew ... :) -
I would be in for a couple

I just got an email from the distributor. It seems that the manufacturer had to stop at 2800 pieces because their tool broke. They will not be able to make any more P401 knobs until July. I had ordered 3000, but this shouldn't be a problem. There are one or two people who I already know aren't in a huge hurry for the knobs, and I will be contacting them personally to make arrangements. I anticipate I will have 2800 knobs in about a week, and I will send them out promptly. As soon as I get them I will snap some pics and post them here, then start counting and mailing. Thanks everyone for your continued patience. -
I happen to like soldering chip resistors and caps, especially if there are already some surface mount components on a board. I am a big fan of component footprints that can accomodate chip components as well as thru-hole. (I know I'm in the minority, but just wanted to throw that in)

I just got off the phone with our distributor (near Montreal). I am told that they have received part of the order from Re'an (not the whole shipment), and they are waiting for Re'an to advise them of the status of the remainder. I didn't ask how many they had received, because I don't want to have to pay to ship the order to me in two parts. I expect a response "real soon now". -
thx MTE - must be the crappy DNS I have here at work. I'll try again from home

I can't load http://edrum.info - is that the correct domain?

Hi everyone ... I'm back, Detroit Music Fest went very well, and I seem to have caught "Rave Flu" which laid me up for a few days afterward. Yuck. I emailed the distributor this morning, since I have heard nothing since two weeks ago when they said "May 30". If I don't get a satisfactory response today, I will call. Please hang in there. -

Um ... will the BOM not just be the same thing as adding together the BOMs for the modules that this incorporates? I will be away from basically now until Wednesday of next week, in Detroit (DEMF, baby!) -- will be checking my emails and PMs from time to time though. -

Usually I order from Digi-Key just because they have really fast delivery in Canada and you don't need to fuss with duties/brokerage/taxes. But I think I already have everything I'll need to get it populated. I plan to use one for a quick 'n dirty MB808 sequencer, and I may use the another in my full-blown sequencer (haven't decided yet). -

Any word on when you'll be likely to receive them? -

Email received from the distributor today: "We are expecting the knobs for May 30". Thanks everyone for your continued patience. -

Mr. Good ..... check your PM :) It's a holiday Monday here in sunny Canada and nothing is open. I am still waiting for knobs, technically 1 day after the anticipated delivery date, so I will now email the distributor for an update. -

You sure did. But I also made a note for myself to contact you before I ship your package, just because moving is so crazy. -
Nothing wrong with that. I typically play an upright any time I get a few hours alone.

I've often wondered, when you use a USB / MIDI chip like this, is it possible to get it talking to your PIC more efficiently than MIDI itself? For example, could you build an IIC USB module that can act like multiple MIDI "cables"? Can it communicate with a PIC at a faster-than-MIDI speed, which could allow for better timing?

Now THAT is DIY. I have a prototype board with a Core, AINx4 and DINx4 all on it, and I thought I was badass, until I saw this. Nice work!

The written order confirmation I received says May 18 at the latest, so if I don't hear anything by then I will follow up. I already bitched and complained a lot just to get these things ordered, so I don't want to pester them again unless they are late to deliver. I will update the title of this thread with the status of the order. -

At some point 200 ice cubes ended up beside my name when I never asked for them. I might be interested in getting a few, though. Unfortunately I don't even know how much they cost. -

When the chat first appeared I was kind of against it, because I was afraid that good knowledge would become exclusive to those who hung around in the chat. Then I realized that it was a really huge community builder, where ideas got exchanged, and things like bulk order status got casually mentioned ... and we all got to know each other a bit better. So I would try to drop in a few times a week. I miss the chat. -

Sorry Sasha and everyone, I see I wasn't completely clear ... I said this: Even though I requested that all payments be made (or accounted for) by April 20, I actually placed the order a week beforehand, at my own risk. So I still don't expect to receive the knobs for a couple weeks (The order was placed on April 11). I promise I'm not running anywhere with anybody's money. I've handled a big bulk for displays and I hope to do more knobs very soon. If anybody is uncomfortable and needs to see my "paper trail" on this I will share, privately.
