Wow, I'm amazed I totally missed this thread until now. I would like an opportunity to chime in, if I may: Typos / whatever aside, I REALLY like Sasa's panel layout with the TR-909 font. I have done graphics work and I understand the principle of a garish font like that being primarily used for headlines, however in this instance it is readable. The font may look a little campy, but I really like that - it looks like something out of the 1982 Battlestar Galactica series. I like "RUN/STOP" on two separate lines, and the "/" serves to tighten it up by making both lines appear the same width. Also by putting RUN/STOP on two separate lines, the label is bigger, making that button appear more important - which it is! I am grateful for all my gear with labels for the jacks along the top of the panel. Please don't lose this, it makes it way easier to set up in a hurry when you can't look at the back of the instrument. The "wave" switch does look a little lonely, somehow ... I don't mean to be an armchair critic but I think it could maybe benefit from a circle around the switch hole? Anyway - I see Kartoshka has posted an eps (which I can't open while I'm here at work) so I probably should be looking at that before I post this. Oh well ... just wanted to throw my two cents in. Maybe, as was done with the MB-6582 panels ordered by Altitude, once we have a couple of ideas we can bring it to a vote?

Yamaha organ Panel with 22 pots, plus switches, any takers?
nebula replied to Bassman's topic in Fleamarket
My mom has an organ that used those levers. In addition to min and max, they have two detents in them. I used to play that organ all the time as a kid, and now, almost 20 years later, only one of the 30-ish levers on her organ is slightly intermittent, and I mean slightly - it's barely worth mentioning. And BTW - there is no CS80 bragging allowed on this forum. Go to analogue heaven or something. Grrrrrrrrr -
Jeez, I don't see what all the fuss is about -- just use a rectangular drill bit!

I used S.A.M. for a few of my own projects back in the 1980's. I had a lot of fun with it. Usually I'd sample S.A.M. and play the phrases back via MIDI. Back then I also had a 4-track cassette deck and a tape sync box, and I did one track where I wanted a lot of S.A.M. speech (way more than my S-330 could accomodate), so I did drop records to tape live from the C64. I believe SAM worked by toggling the SID output off and on fast enough to produce audio. I don't think it would be possible to emulate S.A.M. or most other real-time SID applications over MIDI, because MIDI is too slow. It might be possible to implement some SAM features right on the PIC. But in some very wise yet unattributed words of wisdom previously stated on this forum, if you're wondering how hard that would be, the answer is most probably "too hard for you".

All: there are always a few SX64's available on eBay, anywhere from about $50 to about $150. Cosmo: how are you finding the DR-110 mod???

Probably the best random act I've ever clicked on. Really great stuff.

Sorry, I didn't see the second one, but ... I guess I am interested in one of each type. -
Mouser stocks several P300 knobs.

CLOSED: Black Re'an P401 Soft-touch knobs - 39 cents each

A quick note: there are a few people who have not responded to the private message I sent you here in the forum. If you want out, or if you can't pay by April 20 (5 days away), please let me know. There are a few people asking me for additional P401 knobs, but the knobs are reserved for people who put themselves down in the Wiki but have not yet responded. If I hear nothing by April 20 I will sell your knobs to somebody else. If you need more time, or if you need to back out of this order, it's no problem - please just let me know. I'll be sending a PM to each missing person shortly, but if you are one of the affected people please send me a message ASAP. Thanks -
There is a namespace called "project" and another called "projects" which is making it kind of tricky to link to pages from each other. It looks like a mistake to me. Am I wrong? Is there any way those namespaces can be merged? (I suppose I could go rename a bunch of pages and stuff, but I think it might be easier for an administrator to do it)

I'd love to have a working SX64 in good condition. I would like to think that it, along with the 128D, are too valuable (and historically relevant) to harm. I would happily trade anybody a working, tested 6581 SID for an SX64 :)
-
Hmmmm... it sounds a lot like a SID with no filter. It does have a really nice, glassy square wave. As intriguing as it sounds, I think I'll look forward to working with SID and SwinSID for now. Nice link! And always nice to hear "enola gay"!

Damn! That's like the third time I've been burned that way, shooting my mouth off in this very forum. Oh well ... etch away.

Thanks for the heads up Buhler. Send me the email anyway (as requested in the PM), because I need it to confirm your final quantity. Also just let me know in the email how long you need to pay. Same goes for anybody else who hasn't responded ... there are a few people now asking for more than were ordered, so I will allow everybody who has received a PM until April 20 to respond. If I haven't heard anything from you by then, your knobs will probably go to somebody else. Even if a few people can't come up with the cash by then, it's cool... just let me know, so I can reserve your knobs. -
WOW! The motherlode! Fans should also look into the modern-day, notoriously cheeky "Moog Cookbook".

I'd be curious to hear it in a musical context. I've never heard of such a thing. None of the usual big-box component suppiers list the Philips SA1099P sound generator IC on their web sites, but I did see it listed on eBay for $18 with free shipping. I'd be curious to hear this IC in a musical context - I've never heard of it before. The module is designed to be BASIC Stamp compatible, which means that it should connect very easily to a MBHP Core. Even though the full schematic and board layout is on the Saratronics site, for only $7 more than the eBay listing you get all the support parts and a little PCB too.

I've got it on a floppy somewhere. One day I'll pull it out ... but if anybody would like to relay this question to any oldschool forums such as the one Bill mentions I'd appreciate it, only because I think it would be wrong of me to show up in a community, register and just ask a random question, never to return again.

MIDIbox of the Week (MIDIbox64 based controller made by Sylvain)
nebula replied to TK.'s topic in MIDIbox of the Week
Well the hockey mask is similar to the one worn by "Jason" from the "Friday the 13th" movies. http://images.google.com/images?q=friday+13th+jason&ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi My guess is that this MIDIbox is not intended to produce love ballads ;D Homemade enclosures from "found items" are just always so cool. This MIDIbox looks functional, durable, and like it didn't come off an assembly line. I love the raw, brushed metal. -

I have sent a PM to everybody who has requested knobs. I have merged the "waiting list" with the order list, because I have enough orders to warrant buying 3000 knobs. I expect to still have some extras to sell, so I encourage anybody who still wants these knobs to message me. The PM provides an email address that I need you to send some specific information to. I will send you a PayPal invoice shortly after I receive your email. I hope everybody here can be paid up by April 20. If you have asked for knobs and you have not received a PM yet, send me a message NOW and I will send you instructions on how to order. Cheers, nebula -
In around the mid-1980's, there was a simple C64 demo which featured 8 different coloured eyeballs moving, mostly in a circle, around the centre of the screen. It was called something like "the eyes of irius" but not exactly that. The eyeballs were sprites. I'm trying to find the name of it, and hopefully find the demo. The music was quite good, and the eyeballs had this interesting choreography. Anyone?

nebula replied to nebula's topic in Bulk Orders
No. Later today - I am sorting something out with postage. I'm still sorting out the details of international shipping, because postage varies more crazily by weight than I thought. The "PM" messages you're seeing are from people who aren't on the original list, but still want knobs. If I get just 1 or 2 more such orders, I'll be ordering up an extra bag for everyone, so anybody else who wants knobs should most definitely speak up now! -

Shipping costs: $5 in Canada or U.S.A. $8 anywhere else via surface mail. $11 by USPS priority. These rates are for up to 200 knobs. Orders for more will be evaluated when it comes time to ship. -
I plan to put together a bulk order of some Re'an P311 soft-touch, push-fit pointer knobs soon. Don't let this stop you from getting your own, of course. ;D
