veau: That is a very un-DIY way of looking at it. The mb6582 is an awesome thing, but I doubt that it could possibly fit *everyone's* needs. Depending on the way you plan to use your mbSID your way of going about building and setting up the CS may be pretty different from the mb6582. This is one of the enormous advantages of the midibox concept - its customisability. edit: typo. thx bugfight.

If verifying succeeds it's very unlikely that it did not work ;-)

The easy route would be to stick the PIC in a core. If you wanna do it on protoboard you'll need the PIC, the power parts then MIDI In and the MIDI out parts.

Durch das Loch mit auf die Komponentenseite? Ei, wie geht denn dann? Das man die nach unten wegdrückt, wenn man aus irgendeinem Grund ohne den Lötzinn zu erwärmen auf die Komponenten drückt wie die Sau, kann das schon passieren. Muss man eben einfach nicht machen ;-)

XP +1 As much as I dislike Microsoft in general I'll have to admit - XP runs stable as hell, I never had any problems with driver support (at least not in the last 5 or so years), which I can't say for Vista (possibly add a "yet" here). It runs on fairly low spec computers without any problems, too. I've ran XP on an old Pentium 200Mhz with 64MB RAM - it's a bit slow, but not horribly. Vista does come with some interesting improvements, but it's just not "there" yet.

Ich hab bisher immer die günstigsten von Reichelt, Conrad, Pollin oder Musikding genommen und hatte noch nie Probleme, dass irgendwas nicht gepasst hat ;-)
