  1. Hi. You can find the DCB specs from: http://machines.hyperreal.org/manufacturers/Roland/Juno/info/roland.DCB.txt http://www.chd-el.cz/index.php?id=93&lngid=en Bye, Moebius
  2. Now - that's it. Minimizing "Equal Series Inductance". The whole point of bypassing is to take transient loads off the "power busses". By the way - small axial ceramic caps fit nicely between machined IC sockets and the PCB. Bye, Moebius
  3. There will be no Midibox. Bypass caps are wrong. Believe me. Believe me. Believe me - I do. [K.D Lang] Bye, Moebius
  4. Wrong Wrong Wrong - even on the DOUT page. Seems like TK doesn't GET it? :P As KD was helpful enough and pointed out this design flaw, sny questions about bypass caps should be forwared to him I think, his email address is: dalenkarl@yahoo.se Bye, Moebius
  5. Works like a charm?! Can you get to Davos homepage: http://www.cs.csubak.edu/~dgriffi/ Bye, Moebius
  6. It's Karl E's (from synth-diy mailinglist) first ever project he has designed by himself.. It's actually "Bit Crusher" (or bit reduction/variable sampling rate based signal modifier).. I still get some chills from looking at the "the casing" ;) M
  7. That's like so YESTERDAY!!! But who can guess what this baby does: http://www.cocospalme.se/niema/hemafrobit.jpg ;D Bye, Moebius
  8. No need to wonder - The most of the SmashTV's boards have the silkscreen. (Only limited volume "in house" boards that Tim etches himself don't) Because board layouts are made with freeware version of the eagle that has a board size limit. Those are just bunch of extra parts thrown in to make you feel distracted ;D No, not really.. those are "additional" bypass caps.. you can see the placement in the DOUT page. Bye, Moebius
  9. You're probably talking about EMI here as RFI shouldn't bother anything but sensitive high speed systems.. Analog Devices Application Note "AN-347: Shielding and Guarding" is still a nice reference for sorting out some problems, even in studio environment. Some tips: Keep power and signal cabling separated. EMI should follow an inverse-square law - so doubling the distance between the EMI source and what ever it's picked up by should make the field to be only 1/4th. Fluorescent lighting is bad, m-kay. Bye, Moebius
  10. ...Roland Jupiter 8, some Akai samplers, Studio grade fx.. XLR indicates that connections are balanced, but it doesn't indicate the signal levels. Bye, Moebius
  11. This is a bit misleading comment. Any programmer for any device, that uses unbuffered connections from parallel port is prone to problems with different hardware on PC side. Bye, Moebius
  12. Excellent! ;) And you showed a good attitude by experimenting to get it to work, yeah! Bye, Moebius
  13. Something like that and something for the 3VDC supply. I used wallwart for the 3VDC and battery for the 9VDC. If you really want to be sure, check the Broccoli18 page and calculate the resistor value: http://home.earthlink.net/~davesullins/software/pic18f.html And from the programming side of view, the LCD should work fine. ::) Bye, Moebius
  14. I sort of agree with Jimi. There are PLCC sockets, but I haven't seen any for SOICs. Some "programming sockets" are available, but those are probably very expensive. Anyway, adapter PCBs for SMD components are made, that have DIP pins.. Can't remember the "cheap source" for those, at the moment. Bye, Moebius
  15. Hi, MBHP DOUT is a module that plugs to core and is connected to the 7segment displays. http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp_dout.html.. I don't know what Jidis did, but anyway something that's compatible with DOUTs. ;) You can get programmed PICs from both "midibox shops": SmashTV's (located in U.S.A.): http://www.avishowtech.com/mbhp/buy.html Joergs (located in Germany): http://www.mikes-elektronikseite.de/shop_englisch/index.htm Bye, Moebius
  16. Hi, Duggle kindly provided the schematics: http://69.56.171.55/~midibox/forum/index.php?topic=3970.0 Don't know if anyone has already used it. Bye, Moebius
  17. Maybe reading MIDIbox CV Design page would help? ;D http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_cv.html Bye, Moebius
  18. It seems that "Styroflex" is a brand name for polystyrene caps. These are extremely temperature stable and have very low leakage. These are used in analog oscillators and filters for minimum drift. (It will ensure your SID filter frequency stays same in the same settings and don't drift form time to time) These might be a little hard to find and somewhat expensive. Also polypropylene caps should work fine. Bye, Moebius
  19. Hi. Good guesses ;) The only problem is that the last cap is 470nF, so probably the shop sold you the wrong ones. These ceramics are marked in pico farads, 2 first numbers represent the value and 3rd (if present) the number of zeroes.. (uf, factor?!? what's the correct word?).. Bye, Moebius
  20. Hi. Status: Works for me, monokinetic and Martin, at least ;) A few modifications needed, because you'll only use it in high voltage mode: You don't need to connect D2<->PGM/RB5. Leave D3 <-> Vpp/MCLR unconnected and use 9v battery between PIC Vss pin (-) and Pic Vpp pin (+) This is a very good tip from Martin: My Broccoli18 NEVER works right away.. readcfg works only after Nth+1 time (first giving "Warning, unable to identify PIC" errors), but after the PIC has been identified the programmer works rock solid until I switch the PIC. So, thanks again Martin, Moebius
  21. "momentary" switch, a switch that doesn't latch to it's position after it's been actuated - ie. the switch only momentarily changes it's state. Bye, Moebius
  22. hEy Maan! Leave that POT alone for a while and try rotary encoders instead! Wickit innit? Moebius
  23. Hi, Do you know MIDI? Do you know, what such a browsing method would need from your host software or from your midicontroller? Midibox is fully ready for your needs - but do Live or Tractor send midi messages with track names? Bye, Moebius p.s. Of course you could hardcode the track names on the MB application :P
  24. Hi, no problem with the cap.. XP? Are you trying to program thee PIC? You'll have to install PortIO or that another package I can't remember the name of - to use ICProg. And the JDM - pheww.. no, I won't bash it, but if IT doesn't work.. Buahahah. Your not the only one. Bye, Moebius
  25. Hi, Twin-X! Please give me the URL where Your hosting company can meter the bandwidth..? Something like "http://69.56.171.55/~midibox/forum/" ? I think any non-restricted internet service is public. I'm just thinking how funny it is, if Your hosting company can't log bandwidth used by.. uh, midibox forum. Bye, Moebius p.s. If you reply to this--> 69.56.171.55 :D
