Or HD stepper motor?! http://www.hut.fi/~jwagner/electr/rotary-enc/ http://members.iinet.net.au/~richardh/Rotenc.htm Bye, Moebius

Had to check this out. Extension cable has "ground", but livingroom wall outlet doesn't: Between extension cable "ground" and the radiator: Nice 110VAC, Ouch! (Of course I HAD to touch it) ..like 78xx vs. 79xx regulators. (Gotta remember that when building AOUT module..?!) Pilo, Thanks.. Good tips and points out there, Bye Moebius

Hi, tew303 Well, you've your MS10 already sittin' "bare naked", so if you're not afraid of gear modifications (and maybe drilling an extra 6.3 jack hole or two in da back of da machine), you could make an extra "precision path" mod for V/Oct.? ;) I don't have MS10 schems. but I guess it's 'bout same stuff as MS20s. Multiturn trimmer should give enough precision for scaling and then inserting that signal behind exponential mod. scaling pot, it should be stable. (And free up front panel jack for other use ;)) I once had a purely midi->CV+gate interface, with only typical, not so precise one turn trimmers for scale/offset. Which of course interacted with each other when I tried to get synth to track it... (Finally, I just gave up and sold that piece of CRAP, saying: Well, it's a midi to cv, but you can only use it to send sync pulses with gate.) You at least can get spares for MS10?! I have a Korg Polysix waitin' for rebirth as rack version. But effect selector switch is broken... I'm not sure If I can ever find a replacement :-/ Bye, Moebius

Yes, just ground the core. As long as everything is connected to one common ground (point) external and internal interferences should be "sucked" to it. (Or, if this is MBSID, you can experiment: "With or without" - can you hear, what happens to SID noisefloor) Yup.. but it's so much more pleasant to be able to curse than That 220v total blackout(CH!!) ;) Bye, Moebius

Hi, If you want RC-20 to follow midiclock from external device, you could use something like DINer (http://www.angelfire.com/geek/srlabs/diner.html) to send steady stream of quarter note pulses, and wire transistor as switch between contacts of the RC-20's tap tempo button ;) Only problem is that those pulses must be disconnected, if other (manual) tempo than from midi stream is wanted or if time signature needs to be changed.. ;)) I think that stopping device sending midiclock works for this... (ie. DINer doesn't send pulses, when "MMC stop" command is recognised) -- Then, if you want rc-20 to be master clock, ie. sending midi clock.. well. I think you are a bit out of luck.. I haven't came across "diy tap tempo" projects.. (Of cource someone with coding skills could realise that too) Bye, Moebius modify: UUps

Yes, you should probably connect it. At least with all metal casing. (With mains powered equipment with conductive parts to be touched by user, this provides protection agains hazardous faults (ie. short circuit from "live wire" to chassis) as it provides "return path" to ground, blowing the fuse) Only thing to look out is creating ground loops - there should be only one path to the ground. I know the feeling. :o (Got it from an old coax ethernet cable and a radiator). There's a different potential between a "mains grounded" (?) computer case and the radiator.. so radiator really isn't a ground point, more like voltage source ;) Don't ask me why .. :D Bye, Moebius

Midibox CV is in pre-release stage. And at this point, doesn't seem to support Hz/V. But I'm sure It's going to be added. (by TK, or somebody else) Gate signal is easily converted to s-trig, check this link: http://www.retrosynth.com/docs/trigger/ everything needed can be fit inside 6,3 jack shell. And Korg MS series synths can also be controlled V/Oct, by using it's exponential modulation input... http://www.korganalogue.net/korgms/mstt.html Bye, Moebius

Hi. Well I use Frontpanel Designer from Schaeffer. It's a bit CADdish, but easy to learn and after the learning curve it's very fast to work with. THEN - I must say that it's better to export picture by printing that screen capture. I use CutePDF. It installs as printer and supports 600dpi resolution, and many document sizes. Then if panel needs "post processing" - filling with certain colour, inserting bitmap pictures, I can open it in raster graphic program. At least PhotoShop and latest Paint Shop Pro open PDF files. Hi, Duggle have been working on special "add on core", with ps/2 ports. He's now probably busy doing something more important, but you can check progress from this thread: http://www.midibox.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=concepts;action=display;num=1067480170 I guess that this will enable using touchpads as well as keyboards and mice.. Bye, Moebius p.s. Well, there's another thread: http://www.midibox.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=concepts;action=display;num=1084655389

That must be good news for anyone liking electronic music or PIC.... (did YOU know he's that multitalented :) ) Bye, Moebius

TK, Please, what 'bout those: "one octave keyboard BUTTONS" "oct. transpose plus/minus BUTTONS "step forw./back BUTTONS "step delete <- BUTTON "(16tnh, but under->) slide "BUTTON" Sorry, haven't tweaked like you, so I'd like to have those :), Bye Moebius

So, I can't code,so I rather do it in C.. or someone will.. ;) T. Have you consulted those ppl, makeing SDCC? Last time I googled for "free PIC c compiler", SDCC didn't support anything but 16(F/C)** sorry, Moebius

Yes.

It's pitchable. I guess.. maybe.. if you know how.. :o As you see, datasheet makes it clear, thought ;) Bye, Moebius

Or maybe it's just future MIOS app??! Bye, Moebius

That is some EU directive that regulates recycling process. Nowadays even private individuals MUST recycle electronic trash - not to throw it to the common trash (so, none of us has done that :P ). One must pay fee for that - and it's a recycling fee, so that stuff can't be resold. So it's crucial to enter the chain when stuff has been removed from companys inventory AND before it's shipped to be recycled (to materials). It's kind of nobody's property at that point. Bye, Moebius

But no ps/2 output? I guess this could be useful: Like for processing keyboard input and manipulating it, Like: a. creating keypress macros b. midi -> keypress, like using rotary encoder for inc/dec values normally done with keyboard.. ??! Bye, Moebius

Broccoli18 and Bootloader - SUCCESS!!!

Thanks - a real junk box programmer ;) ONE power bypass cap and one resistor.. I don't think it even needs a breadboard. Bye, Moebius -
And It's so nice to see that beautiful wood there.. classy stuff! Bye, Moebius

Well, this tip is HOT ;) Some of us save broken, "outdated", unneeded electronic devices.. and recycle parts out of them. But usually just some parts, as desoldering is pretty dull and boring job, when done with "desoldering pump" or wick (not sure if those are the right words?!) But my friend gave me an advice: Use hot airblower (?!). Well, I tried: Yes, 10 secs and with some shaking (pulling) components started to fall off - from 2 sided board. Even 16-pin plastic IC socket droped without deformation. Then again: I'm not sure what this does for IC, plastic caps, other temperature "sensitive" components. But I'm pretty sure, that all resistors, ceramic caps, diodes ect. manage this treatment allright. So, PPL. recycle! Moebius

Hey, check MIDIO128 page. There is an simple example how to connect ULN2803 darlington driver, so DOUT can drive relays.. I guess that 500mA / channel (continuous) is also enough for the most solenoids ;) (checked few reasonable looking solenoids out of local part suppliers catalog.. 0,48mA max) ;D This is great... Moebius p.s. Why not use MB to clock counter, EPROM, DAC combo, for those (terrible) sound FX...

Bloody HELL!! Deep in my mind I KNEW that it exists. Haven't found any in spraycan. Even transparent blue laquer I can only get in tiny cans intended for plastic models. As Monty Python sang: "Repeat: Finland, Finland, Finland. The country where I quite want to be... ...Finland has it all." Bye, Moebius

Sorry, going off topic.. but a flourescent blue frontpanel. How did you do that?! Bye, Moebius

Yes I am, Bye Moebius p.s. I msc175 has midibox based cv+gate to midi controller.. but why vcf?! On the pc side?!
