Hmmm, interesting approach. I tried already sometime ago to contact Mackie US regarding that issue. The result was: my email was deleted without reading and without any response. Mackie did not show any cooperation. Dan Steinberg's offer is new for me. The problem in place is just the fact that the MIDIbox community has no "official representative of a company". Is there anybody outside in a company that might work as a representative for this? I'd work together with him and contact Tony Rodriguez to sort out if there is any chance of a coop. Cheers, Skunk

Hi Roger, two mixing console manufacturers use them already -- and have written corresponding drivers for Embedded Linux. Unfortunately I'm not allowed to tell you more details (-> confidential)... >:( But: I had an Osram Opto presentation slide with pictures -- somewhere in my files (not confidential). I'll search for it and post it to you -- just to give an idea how it looks like. Regarding prices: well, of course it's not a cheap solution, but a very professional one. Excellent quality, no compromises,... Regarding the driver: I'll ask for a sample for you -- free of charge, and you are invited to write a corresponding MBLC driver! 8) Cheers, Skunk

Hi, ich tippe auf das alte Zoll-Problem. Dauert, dauert, dauert,... Und zwar nicht beim amerikanischen, sondern beim deutschen Zoll. Die Burschen haben's schon fertiggebracht, ein Paket aus USA 2 Monate zurückzuhalten, weil der Ursprungsnachweis "Made in Korea" war und man sich aus bürokratischen und absolut nicht nachvollziehbaren Gründen nicht einigen konnte, das Paket an mich auszuliefern. Absolut unsinnig, aber leider traurige Realität. Aber in spätestens zwei Wochen sollte diese "Inkubationszeit" rum sein und die Ware dann eigentlich eintrudeln -- wenn sie sich nicht mittlerweile ein audiophiler Zöllner unter den Nagel gerissen hat... ;D Cheers, Skunk

It depends on which fader types you're looking for. There is a bulk order still open for the coreless V faders, for all the other fader types (Standard DC motors) it has been closed just recently. Have a look at http://69.56.171.55/~midibox/forum/index.php?topic=4047.0. Cheers, Skunk

Hi again, I just checked the schematics. Have a look on Sheet 125-3. The fader is powered by a discrete bipolar transistor H-Bridge running on 12V. I assume the faders used are cheap licence build according to P&G, but manufactured in Far East. The motors used could be Panasonic, so the power for the motor is mostly in the range of +8V...+12V. Unfortunately the BOM doesn't give any indication about the manufacturer since it just says: motorized 100m faders. Cheers, Skunk

Das viel größere Problem als die billige DSP-Konkurrenz dürfte die Tatsache sein, daß die CEMs vor ca. 20 Jahren entwickelt und auf einem Halbleiter-Prozeß gefertigt wurden, den es schon lange nicht mehr gibt, da er mittlerweile durch mindestens 5-10 weitere Shrink-Generationen abgelöst wurde. Da helfen auch 50.000 Stck. nicht weiter, wenn nicht noch irgendjemand das entsprechende Equipment am Laufen hat. Ich wüßte nicht, welcher Halbleiterhersteller noch mit so altem Gerümpel arbeitet. Damit könnte man nie profitabel produzieren... :P Ciao ciao, Skunk
