  1. Hmmm, interesting... you rreally got the service manual? In the service manual you normally find a list with all the parts used in the d8b, often called BOM = bill of materials. In the schematics you need to identify the faders with their corresponding part IDs. Take the IDs and cross check in the BOM for the corresponding material name. Normally you should find there a part number and may be also the supplier. If you got this, then let's proceed. Cheers, Skunk
  2. Hi Fabian, was meinst Du mit "Ausverkauf"???
  3. Jeroddumas, if you get the datasheet, I'd be interested in a copy. ;) But I don't think Mackie will give them away. I had bad experience with Mackie getting detailed HW informations. They more or less ignore such enquiries. They want you to buy their equipment, not to clone it. ;D Cheers & Good Luck, Skunk
  4. Hi Roger, entry ok with me. As discussed we will have a seperate conversation for the V-Faders. ;) Cheers, Skunk
  5. Hi Roger, as discussed the order for the knobs: 32x FK13x25 black 32x FK13x25 silver Still both versions since I don't know yet the layout colours of my console. ??? But this is peanuts compared to the cost of the 32 coreless faders... :P Cheers & see you hopefully soon in your studio ;D, Skunk
  6. Hi P-Cord, Überweisung geht morgen raus. Danke für's Organisieren & viele Grüße, Skunk
  7. Hi P-Cord, Super-Idee!
  8. Hi Cheater, the P&G sample was shipped directly from P&G UK (free of charge) since the german subsidary ignored all my requests, so I complained directly at the headquarter -- and got suddenly support. The ALPS samples are grepped directly at the german distributor ALBS which is located close to me. I'll work together with these guys for some future projects. Right now both manufacturers show the same high quality level. I'm just on the way to develop new motor fader controller, so the final results will show which is better. Cheers, Skunk
  9. Hi Cheater, yes, P&G is well known for this. I'm currently developing a dedicated Fader Control Unit and have a test sample of two ALPS faders (standard DC as well as coreless DC) and one P&G (PGFM3200) with me. Quality of all seems very comparable, but the P&G 3200 is double the price of the ALPS V coreless version. So the time will show which solution is the better one. Cheers, Skunk

Cheers, Skunk
  11. Hi, as soon as you're using motor faders, you need much more. Watch out for some corresponding forum posts. Cheers, Skunk
  12. Hi folks, it looks like the experiment to change human beings into machines was successfull! Hopefully you didn't forget how to talk a human language! ;D Cheers, Skunk

    Ton erzeugung

Cheers & Good Luck, Skunk
  14. Think about the Linux story and how the Linux community grew up. And what's about Linux today? A lot of people make a lot of money around Linux. RedHat, Suse, Debian etc. Nevertheless, Linux is an open source project. It's under the terms of the GNU General Public License. What did Thorsten do? He took a great decision: he did it exactly the same way as Linus Thorwalds. He has put MIOS under the same GNU license -- to be found in every MIOS source code header. Consider to have a situation that is not so far away from the Linux story. How might MIOS look like in ten years? And who might earn money with systems around MIOS in ten years? Linux is getting a real competitor to Windows today since it was driven by a huge and growing community -- also with commercial aspects. May be MIOS derivates could become a big competitor in the next ten years to the Mackie, Digicontrol and other well known audio equipment operating systems -- also considering commercial aspects. Just as a thought... I think Thorsten has the right to close this discussion with a clear final statement. He's the "father" of MIOS and the MIDIbox HW around the CORE and the 16F452 & Co.. Cheers, Skunk
  15. Hi all, I don't understand the endless discussions. If somebody wants to sell selfmade equipment in Ebay or whereever, why not? There is no real damage for anybody, nobody is hurt etc. And it's clearly in the decision of the person selling the equipment how to setup the price level. The only thing one should pay attention is the story not to violate trademarks. But this is not the case here, so what? BUT: It starts getting interesting if somebody copies 1:1 the MIDIbox boards and sells them professionally as his own work, not mentioning the MIDIbox source respectively the owner ship of TK. This won't be funny anymore. I think we have other problems in the world to solve... :) Cheers, Skunk

    HUI Protokoll

Hä hä hä, heißt nich umsonst "außen HUI, innen pfui.."! ;D Tschuldigung... :P
  17. Well, I got more details regarding legal issues, but there is a limit to "broadcast" all these informations since it's going deep inside the companies, including the former Emagic. Fact is: there are legal limitations (ref the C4) between Mackie and Steinberg, and both, Steinberg as well Mackie, confirmed this on the exhibition. But the information handling is very strange and pretty invisible as soon as you start asking direct questions. Everybody tells you a bit, but not the whole truth -- either because they just don't know, or because they don't want. At the end of the day I don't take care about all this "Messe-Blahblah" -- as long as I get the C4 MIDI doc from somebody. ;) Cheers, Skunk
;D Cheers, Skunk
  19. Hi, well, I had a long discussion on the Frankfurt Music Exhibition two weeks ago -- directly with a Mackie service guy. First surprising answer on my question: shouldn't be a problem to get the C4 midi implementation doc.! He pointed me to his collegue in the US who's responsible for the Control and C4, I contacted him, still waiting for feedback. I din't succed for all other channels that I contacted till now. Nobody is using a C4 -- or obtains the documentation. BTW: I also checked in Frankfurt with Steinberg people for a future implementation of the C4 in Cubase SX. Result: no way, legal issues with Mackie. Logic is the prefered C4 DAW SW. Cheers, Skunk
  20. Wow, what a hot link, Moxi! 8) Thanks for this hint! Cheers, Skunk
  21. Hi Roger, ooops, sorry, misinterpreted your post with the order deadline (had a heavy two days business trip behind me, my brain was not cleared up yet ;D. Pull back the fader knobs. :P Cheers, Skunk
  22. Hi Roger, 32x FK13x25 blackchrome 32x FK13x25 silverchrome Don't know my final layout colors yet, so I'll take both, I think. I'll call you sunday evening... Cheers, Skunk
  23. Hmmm, interesting approach of a modular system. I'm also a friend of modular systems, but this new toy is a bit too "micro" in my opinion. Looks like LEGO... :) Cheers, Skunk
  24. I have a 200W stepper motor in my stock. Just thought about to use it as a decoder. A bit oversized, may be... ;D ;D ;D Hey, this forum is creating crazy ideas like hell... never seen this before. God bless the MIDIbox engineering force, an amazing community... 8) Cheers, Skunk
  25. Hi Smash, livin in good old Germany. No hurry to send me a xtal and caps, I've more than enough in my black boxes. But you could answer my PM since you could earn some money doing this! 8) Cheers, Skunk
