Could someone point me to a reliable source for 60/40 solder with a water-soluble flux core? The local shops don't know about it and I can't seem to figure out if Jameco or Mouser carry it.

Does anyone here know whether or not Mark Mothersbaugh or any of the other Devo members has a SID synthesizer of some sort? I'm listening to the latest Devo album "Something for Everybody" and I seem to hear something SID-like now and then, especially on track 12 (March On).

When I saw this post, I thought you were going to suggest running current through the two pins that MIDI doesn't use. It's interesting and full of potential trouble.

I still want to get my hands on the masks and make exacting duplicates. It shouldn't be too terribly expensive to tool up for a 30-year-old design.

I was reading the Wikipedia article for the Elektron SidStation and found a strange statement that there are aftermarket clones of the original SID chips. What are these aftermarket chips and who makes them?

Paia used to carry a dirt-cheap rackmount box without a faceplate that was decent enough. I have a rackmounted Paia Fatman and I didn't want the guts just hanging loose. For a rackmount panel of the MBSID, check the regular .fpd file at http://ucapps.de/midibox_sid_manual_fp.html and drop it into a 3u template in Front Panel Designer.

I think Ponoko is the route I'll take. All you Dremel-users ought to check out the Proxxon line of rotary tools. I've come to the conclusion that Dremel is okay as long as you don't want to use attachments.

I seem to recall someone being able to make windows for protecting LCD windows. Who was that? Are windows still available?
