I also thought it was humming bird until I come very close to it. Never seen it before even I lived half of my life at the coast. Moth you say.. yes, it hovers just like that. ;)

I don`t need to set debouncing off with current 40 steps wheel. I tested it turning fast as I could (connected on SR5) without noticing any skipping. I used default MB64E setting. Has anybody ever needed to increase debouncing for common 24 steps mechanical encoders?
-
You are maybe right. I`ll blame opto transistors and try increase debounce. Thanks for the advice. But you must know flickering cannot have anything to do with my DIY wheel. Its precision, mechanical strength and stability is superb!!! 8)

Yes, they work perfectly with buttons. ???

Just to let you know the last results. Encoder seams to work fine now, but only if connected on SR5 and not further SRs. (I didn`t tried SR1-SR4 as those are reserved for buttons by default) I`m not sure could it be that registers further in chain could be more problematic because of the shifting speed, or something else is problem. On mentioned second DINx4 I used to hooked mechanical encoders before, but never optical transistors. Maybe the problem could be that I don`t have 100nF caps on module but as I never experienced problems with it I just didn`t bother to solder it. I need to do some more testing to locate the problem, but for now I have positive results. :)

Cool. Thanks for informing us. ;)

Thank you. I`m designing, gluing, painting, sanding and polishing buttons myself. Everything else does laser cutter. ;D

Thank you guys. ;)

Hi there. Yes, the output is typical quadrature encoder and I`m probably doing to use 2x DINx4 but I could live with 1x DINx4. I could maybe use some other CORE pins for that jog. I`ll do some intensive testing today, and let you know the results. Thank for an offer for help mate.

Strange that some people didn`t received my emails. I advise you all to check your spam filters and add my email address in filter so I`m not included. Thank you. Vlad, Ganchan, you have got an copy in PM.

People, will you please wait for batch for rare parts to be offered first. Mike said he might do it after he finish few batches he is doing right now. So please be patient and wait like everybody else. Come on forum regularly and you want miss it, but don`t expect Mike fetching your orders here. There is a Bulk order forum and wiki page for that but let`s wait until (if) he, announce it again. Thank you.

x0xb0x Bulk parts order Reloaded. (to Digikey, Mouser, etc).

Doug, it is not reinventing a wheel, it`s called improving. People are doing it here all the time. ;) Another thing... Oakley have not much to do with x0x not TB, and lack of dedicated sequencer makes it much less interesting. -
It is easy to show it using MIDIO128 as the LEDs are well visible, but on MB64E isn`t much to show. I`ll try too shoot it. But first, I have to make sure is the maybe too much for SRs.
-
Not sure is it problem but very possibly is. I probably couldn`t increase the SR update speed without some negative effects to the rest of box.. Could I? I will be using regular mechanical encoders with this one and alots of buttons and LEDs.

I`m out of any programming skills :-[ Well, I connected it on right pins, and it works from time to time but mostly not good - very unreliable. I didn`t know DINs are not fast enough for scratching. I don`t spin it to fast but maybe it is still too fast for shift registers as the resolution is much bigger than it is on common mechanical encoders. I`ll try to move it very slow and see is there any change. I hope I wan`t be forced to lover the disc resolution even more. :-\

There is never enough time for all projects, and the list growing bigger. It always takes some sacrifice. -

Yes, sad but true. Anyway, I think making the x0x from self sourced parts isn`t that hard. Yes, it took us soo long but, it is hard to synchronize so many people and run all those batches. Jan (unit-sound) is already playing with his x0x built on the PCB from my batch and he sourced all his parts by himself. :) Mike mentioned me over an email a possibility of making new PCB design with different, easier to find parts that fits panel better. I think it would be a great thing as we are struggling more with those Grayhills and Panasonic than with those rare parts. Ladyada pot selection isn`t the best, and I don`t like the idea of shaft cuttong. I recently discovered I have much better encoders at home than one used in original design. (shaft waaay too short) So, improving the current design (just part selection) and placing it on 2 separate PCBs as Mike suggested would be perfect. I never liked squared look of xox. I think it could look much better with mechanical parts that are easier to find. But let`s first finish this batch and we can think further. -
Unreasonably low prices. :o
-
I just wanted to inform/remind people here again... I sent an email few days ago to all x0x builders which you have to reply so I know you are interested into panels and what quantity, so I can calculate the final price that depends out of it. Not much people replied by far, so in case you didn`t received the email please contact me. Thank you.

True. I believe, by the "main parts" Berg meant what they had for selling (Atmel, Tempco, panels, box..) Berg? -

Adafruit sells the solo PCBs too for those who want to source the parts themself. -
Well, sometimes it don`t move at all, sometimes it moves to 127 and automatically starting go backwards. Sometimes it moves as should back and forth but only when it is not on 0 or 127. It is strange to describe, as it not the same all the time. Does this video looks right to you? To me it does. I see same thing as when I use buttons to emulating the quadrature. I tested different parts of ring to make sure it acts the same to eliminate possibility of misalignment or wobbling. The whole rig is firm and precise. LEDs looks blink in steady rate if rotating the disc same speed. Some oscilloscope could probably be very helpful here. :-\

I`m not surprised but I can say it look way much better than the first one. :) Very nice looking box.
