Choosing the color of button illumination for Divius project... Enjoy ;)

Well, Matrixsynth are not so picky and they publish alot and everything, so I don`t believe they loves ME that much. :)

Great. We should all upgrade our SIDs with those SSMs. That guy seams to be reliable and fair supplier.

x0xb0x Bulk parts order Reloaded. (to Digikey, Mouser, etc).
Sasha replied to TheAncientOne's topic in Miscellaneous
I would be very much interested in those digikey parts. EDIT: About reasonable offer... I dont expect to pay less than you payed for it. Just tell me the price and I`m fine with it. I already have all those Mouser parts, but if you are selling it only all together, I`m fine with it too,I just wanna start building that x0x.Thank you in advance. -
I normally use 25W machine for all soft material like acrylic woods rubber. It is sufficient for all my work. I would rather like it has bigger working area than power. I don`t know what rating of laser used by steel service I`m using from time to time, but probably one zero more as they cut steel thicker than 5mm.
-
NP. I thought it would be fun to see it. I was wondering how it work before I have direct access to the machine.

Not sure how you mean, any powerful laser could be dangerous. It has, but not sure about wawelength Yes, 30W CO2. Exposing hand to the laser beam would be same as exposing it to the circular cutting blade. Why should one do that. I never heard anybody had accident with laser cutters, as you open the cover only to put in or take out the material. Plastic cover protects from reflected beams, so I don`t find it so dangerous. Making laser CNC would not be so easy, but making CNC reuter for milling is not hard at all. And, it can be more dangerous than laser! People are lighting cigarettes these days with laser from DVD burner. There is a step by step instruction about it somewhere on the net. :) The one you see on the video is friends laser machine and it isn`t so great. It is some Chinese made. Engraving resolution cannot be changed and dont have a mesh, so small parts just cannot be cut. On the video where orange pieces are cutting we have to put some lexan underneath so we can cut it, so that is why that much smoke comming out of it. Acrylic don`t make much smoke but it smells bad, especially extruded acrylic.I almost always use some Taiwanese laser... 25W, that is much more precise and work better than the one on these videos.

What is saw and file? ;D

Few videos of laser cutting the buttons and sub-panel...

Great, that is soon. I don`t need it badly right now but still can`t wait to get it :) Thanks for informing us. ;) -
Vlad, I dont believe I cad do that kind of closeup pic. You can clearly see the texture there, but I can try. I need good daylight and often is too dark when I back home from work. Sure, you can screen it. But as this material is made for laser engraving, aditional screening makes not much sense. If you wanna screen it, better get yourself blank metal panel and screen it as you wish. Doing both increase the cost without a reason. I agree, but we must be quick as suplier stock changes very fast and they get new shippment after few months. I expected some more feedback here so I know it makes sense to start the poll at all. I already received 120EUR from Prof, so I can buy some material. For other laser service It is also better to send money to mike, but I`ll check first if it`s OK with him. I wan`t feel any satisfaction until I start soldering and hear a sound from the oscilator. :-\
-
No we didn`t. I think 5 or 6 panels can fit onto one sheet of Rowmark so few options can be possible. Material supliers stock changes very often. I think color should be something universal... they didn`t have black for quite some time. What color would you prefer. Yes, laser guy is willing to put more effort for few bux more if people want some logo engrawing or something. You can see full size pictures on my flickr page. I`m sure you can see what you wish there. ;) Minimum size of text? He told me that long time ago but I forget it. I never wanted to engrave so small text. What is more important is font itself. Some can be engraved very small some not so small. Some are better quality. The TR909 font was better quality for engraving and better done than Prototype font I used for this panel. You can fill the gaps with paint if you like. I screwed it all together and it looks and feels quite strong and sturdy, only thinkg I would like to do more is test it with all panel components on PCB.
-
I agree completely. As Live is very popular and people seams very much interested in hacking it it is strange nobody already made something realy useful and accessible for users with not so much of software hacking skills. Seeing Henke using Monodeck without need to look at the screen is my dream of using Live.
-
Heheh, I`m glad I`m not only one with messy cables. :)
-
No, material is based on acrylic but top coating it industrial secret. Sure, if you like it. I never tried, but I see no difference... gap is gap. ;) And, here is the red/silver combination too...
-
Thank you Mike. I like it too. I just screwed it all together... PCB, panel and subpanel. It is very solid, but to test with all components I really need to have all panel critical parts. After what happened recently I don`t wanna risk any money until I`m 100% sure everything fits perfectly. I must say I`m finally satisfied with results, or better say with balance between effort, cost and result. All previous attempts was very hard to realize because I have to use so many services for a simple job like panel... material supply, preparation for painting, painting, screening... If we did panel in local panel company it would cost as much as the Shaeffers panels, and I most of people are not ready to spend that much.

If this is what you see under under your desk you probably need some kind of cable organizers. This is what I made using some kind of hard foam. The design of that fish is copied from one factory made I`ve seen somewhere on the internet. Small one I made for my girlfriend Bone-like shape comes naturally, seams best in series for this job.

Seams things about making x0xb0x never go too quick and smooth... It is very hard to put all peaces together to make it happen... always something missing. :-\ After quite some time I managed to make this one, hopefully last in series. I have finished it 2 days but I have internet connection failure until recently so couldn`t inform you right away as I wanted. As I already mentioned, this version of panel consists of 1.5mm laser cut and engraved front panel made out of Rowmark laserable material. As it is thin thus not strong enough, 3mm panel is added to support it. I still didn`t find time to glue the panels and test it altogether with PCB and PT10, but quick tests tells me it is good way to go. ;) For now, here is the pix. I`m expecting the price about 25 EUR, but I need to check exact the prices of material to know the final result. This panel is made out of material me and my laserman had at hand so I don`t know exact numbers of panels that can fit onto sheet of Rowmark material nor acrylic. I`ll get back to you very soon with more details. Sorry for waiting this long, but I couldn`t do much to speed it. I wish to thank The Prof for financial help and support! ;)

Well HDD drumkit is not about steppers, it is simple driving voice coils. I think any motor can be driven with PWM with exception that steppers needs exact order. But, I don`t know so much about motor control. I`m not sure who was it but some forum member is doing some testing and coding to drive the servos. Those could be useful for making some strange MIDI acoustic instruments.
-
It is not just square wave nor PWM you need. Steppers coils needs to be energized in right sequential order to turn the motor. Also, there are two different types of it - unipolar and bipolar, and they are driven differently. To drive it i suggest using ULN2803. I did some testing with it and steppers I dug from old printers and big floppy drives, and it work good for smaller steppers. Simplest way to drive the motors is ULNs connected to AOUT and MIDI simple 4bar pattern. :)

I wish it`s made with more care and precision but anyway, good idea. ;)
-
Looking good. Congratulations.

Great. Thank you nils! ;)

I believe it is possible to hold the order until the all ordered parts be on stock and than ship it all together. Like this, we will never get those parts. It is absurd that getting all those rare parts is easier than those still in production. OK Mike had luck to get it for us from same supplier but I managed to get all the rare parts from few sources myself without much hassle.
