  1. I dont have non-midibox synths except half broken juno 60, and never tested much of others, but one of my favorites is Radikal Technologies - Spectralis. What is interesting about this fabulous grovebox is that it has Albs knobs on it, like alot of our MB synths. ;) I doubt I would ever be able to afford it, as it is dirty expensive. Alesis Andromeda is also on my wish list. Ahhh :-\
  2. No, you had to kill only 5. :) I managed to dig about 30 and killed them all. I didn`t figured out which one have new, and which old chips. At first I thought fat housing must be hiding old chips, and modern, thinner ones new, but I was wrong. It could be frustrating when such a great project exists, and one of it`s main ingredients is rare chip. It takes alot of effort to find C64 at all, especially with 8580 chips. 6582 you wont find in C64 at all, they never got into it. These computers were very popular. I often talk to people about this project, and some never heard of SIDs, but sometimes I get lucky they have some C64 laying somewhere in the basement. So, keep searching, and eventually, you will find the ones you need. Good Luck PS. I would also like to know the "secret" but anyway, I buy any I could find just if it have C64 logo on it. ;)
  3. Simone, as you say linolie, that sounds pretty much as "laneno ulje" which means oil from lan in serbian, so I believe that is it. :) It took some time to completely dry out. I put it at the sun for one afternoon to speed up evaporation as it tend to sweat a little bit even I dry it with cloth. Result is very nice at the end.

    Guitar robot

No, it is not a projection. You can see it from different angles. Anyhow, you can see the machine on few other videos at youtube, or compare the size of the 3 regular factory made "things" for triggering guitar mounted at the bottom of robot. Also, for making that sound range, strings needs to be much longer than the length of motor faders. For driving this thing they probably used servo motors, because they are quicker and more powerful than steppers. You can see some pretty quick maneuvers. Mechanical construction is pretty simple, and not different much than any printer mechanism except it has rotating string trigger, but anyway looks great and sounds great. I would make one if I know how to program/drive it. If somebody wants to support that side, I could make mechanics. :)

    Guitar robot

Here is the good reference point... Pay attention on fact that Japanese are smaller than white people, especially Japanese women :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSzkgYrj_2o
  6. Hey people, check out this nice machine. Sure, guitar playing robot are nothing new, but this one is really much cooler than other I`ve seen. I also really like the tune. It goes really well with the look of machine. Enjoy
  7. I would do it long time ago, but who will risk to employ me illegally. As far as I know, low is pretty ruff on employers if having illegal employees. For getting work permit, company must send you job offer and make some kind of statement why am I specially needed for that kind of job, and not some resident. I`m not an expert in any field, and have got no interesting diploma. :-\
  8. You had pretty much of bad luck yourself, Willba. Didn`t know SIDs gets so often damaged. I found only 1 demand SID from about 30 I managed to find. They are not bought at ebay, so I probably payed much less than you are. Anyhow, it feels bad. And about bad luck wile crafting we all can wright a book, I`m sure... I`m impatient by nature, and most of personal and material damages I did because of that rather than bad luck. Once, while I was fooling around with my girlfriend, to show her how much I love my soldering Iron, I kissed it while it was still hot. :'( Worst kiss ever! Not much damage done as I barely touched it, but man... That was probably the most funniest thing I did by mistake. ;D But, I still love it. Few times I was really frighten about what could happen.
  9. Superglue is good, old TK`s recipe, I didn`t wanted to invent a wheel. ;) I didn`t try to use acetne. I doubt it would help as superglue penetrated all the way down and around the LED. It is glued really hard. I could try when I back at home anyway. Thanks for a suggestion. Yes, I like it alot! :) Whole construction was forced all the time to fit into that 80mm wide pieces of wood, and it was pretty difficult, but I think it worth it. ;)
  10. I really needed to left aside this project for some time because of the bad carma it has, and the lack of money. Working on other things like LED rings was terrible as well because of the different type of LEDs guys to sold me by "mistake" and I super-glued to the lasercut holder. >:( http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php?topic=9602.msg69205#msg69205 So naturally, I got back to the Endorphin... I cut another piece of woods borrowed from sequencer in order to have at least this project done. Now I did job by myself, and I will surely did as much as possible by myself in the future, even I need to buy special tool that I`m going to use rarely. It really pays off as my head wont hurt. I trust only mine, and my laserman`s work. ;) I forget to mention... for cutting the woods I used guided hand saw that is used for angular cutting, like picture frames, so result was very nice and precise. Here are two pictures. First one is sides before coating and second pic is coated with some seed oil (dont know English word). I didn`t wanted to use any kind of laqueer. Oil made Mahagony little darker, and increased woods texture. It penetrate deep into wood, protects it and keeps it`s natural look and feel.
  11. Thorsten, thank you very much for your detailed answers. I`m looking forward to try all this by myself. :)
  12. Sure, for SEQ.
  13. No, nothing more you should know, just ask/search for PIC 18F452, and they are made only by Microchip. ;)
  14. I would rather go with nokia displays as stryd suggested. I think it would be better and more comfortable than 1x8 modules. Your controller can be more compact if you put encoders and displays in 2 lines if it suits your design.
  15. Thorsten, can you please give us some more details about sound itself? Is it just new bassline engine + feedback or there is CEMs also? My SID V1 never sounded as close as yours, probably because of the filters. :/ I`m also interested what other effects are you using in your demo. Thank you I am also planing to add pots to the front-panel like you Andrew. :)
  16. That is great Seppoman, it will go very nice with Willba`s PCB we all waiting for. :)
  17. I am boiling an idea for some time to make some kind of interactive sound/video/mechanical installation so conventional making music or performance is not my main idea. I`m more interested in experimental non-conventional interaction with that art installation. The problem for ealization is that sensors are pretty expensive and hard to get locally. I should search the web a bit so maybe I could find some cheaper to order. Any source recommendations? Yes, these are great features. I really find very easy how to configure min/max value of sensors. :) That would be great. I love your videos. If you put aside content which is fun itself, the videos are very well done. Thanks for your answers
  18. One question regarding the sensor selection... what sensors you find most fun to play with, except sharp IR? I assume you tested a lot of them.
  19. Thank you Michael for your project, I`m sure it is going to be popular. I`m going to check the wiki. ;)
  20. Yes, I know :(, but most of the times customer is much more protected in states, and seller trying to keep good reputation because of the competition. I bought something similar so I could avoid using shitty carpenter services forever. Really nice tool but nothing fancy. It is actually hand saw with vertical guides and some kind of ruler for setting the angles. It helped me to cut very precisely new side for my Endorphin.
  21. No. They are not as I tested them all together (pic 1). I also tested spare LEDs from same batch and you can see the result on second image (2 LEDs side by side) They are probably some untested super-cheap stuff from china bought for $1/Ton.
  22. No man, you are wrong. It is not about metal and plastics nor money, it is about everything you try to do in this stupid country. Nothing is functioning, and everybody are trying to fuck you up, no matter is it electronic store, your boss or government ...same shit. Every single thing that I payed to be done is screwed, but much more priceless and only thing that I actually count is the energy I put in my work. It really feel like building playing card castle and someone just kick it while passing by. You start again, and same thing happened. After some time it stop make any sense. It is hard for you, living in normal countries, to understand what am I talking about, and how energy draining is to live and create if you are in Serbia. Everything you do is pretty worthless for all but yourself, and takes so much time and nerves to realize no matter how much you try.
  23. I hardly recover from the last debacle with carpenter cutting my side-panels 3mm off the line, now another shit... I suspiciously asked 2 times the guy in shop are all LEDs same type and from same batch, and he replied positively, both times. Even I am suspicious by default because one needs to be, as this is Serbia, seamed I wasn`t suspicious enough. After few days of soldering most boring thing ever - LED rings, I tested it and was shocked that 1/3 LEDs are faulty, or they are of some other type. As you can see they are way too dimmed than is acceptable. I don`t know is it problem with me as I didn`t tested every single LED before gluing and soldering, or the problem is this fucking country that shouldn`t exist when you cannot believe anybody. I wish NATO killed us all first time so few, normal, non-criminal people wouldn`t suffer any longer. Sorry for my words of anger, and negative energy, but I just cannot believe what is happening to me all the time. It is so fucking hard to realized a project successfully here, it`s just unbelievable! :( Here is the pics, so you can see how big difference it is.
  24. 4:24... :) Love it! Great demo. So these are all internal SID patterns?
  25. Cool, thanks. I am currently more interested in particular VST effects, but sure, hardware is also welcome. ;)
