Hi Davidd. Here are the webpages, but I dont believe it can be helpful to you, as they are located in Serbia, and domestic companies cannot sell to foreign countries, they can only export. If you are company maybe you can try. :-\ Good luck! The company that doing CNC milling: http://www.petmk.co.yu/ The company that supplies anodized aluminum and other Rowmark products: http://www.granatir.co.yu/

Well, I send you PM today but you didn`t replyed. I think I can make pretty good deal here. Wether is Rowmark laserable material or anodized aluminum. I been to one company few hours ago to check their panels. They have pretty good prices. 500x 1000mm 1.5mm thick anodized panel cost about 40EUR. CNC millig of each panel should be less than 10 EUR, I expect 5-6 comparing to what I payed for my Endorphin case (including their powdercoated material). For marking, I think it is most economical solution laser engraving, but maybe even screenprinting. I can check. If these panels are made out of speciall laserable plastics, whole process could be even cheaper and much more easier to do as it is everything done in one company instead of 3 for aluminum panels. Check http://www.rowmark.com/ for more info about their great material. Also, some Waterjet cutting is also an option for some quantity. This is all from me.

;D ;D ;D This is much better one than Thorsten`s "I you now which is right side of soldering iron..." ;)

It really is. :) I`ve already seen some simple flash sequencers but never this good.

Hey, If I am perfectionist and pay attention to the details that don`t means I`m tidy while working. My father ask me all the time... "how can you work in that mess" but, it`s creative mess... :) Yes, it is hard to pay attention to the piece I`m working on and keep the table tidy. I wish I could as I`m looking for something small in that messy table all the time. It is a waste of time, but hey, you can`t have it all. :) Snorkman, sorry for thread hijacking. Better wright some news before it`s too late. ;D

This is 3 part custom button I make for customer who liked my sequencer buttons very much and wanted something similar for his project. Top part is 6mm opal acrylic which has just great diffusion/transparency ratio. Second layer is 4mm transparent acrylic spacer with big hole which help to get wider area illumination. Third layer is 4mm LED holder, and doesn`t have to be transparent. I glued 3 pieces together using superglue. Attached ZIP contains EPS file if somebody have access to laser cutter button.zip button.zip

Hmmm, linearity is very important for MB. I think I will test both PCBs. Fonik`s as a standalone manual filter box, and yours for integration with SID. Who will be first? ;D
-
Cool. Can`t wait, but take your time. ;) Yes, quality of video is pretty bad+youtube degradation, but I get a clue. I already heard how SSM sounds before but not with SID what interested us most.
-
Second run, you say. That is great! So, you like how it sounds. Can you attach some samples please? It would be great. Thanks for the info man.

Untidy? ...man, you know nothing about untidiness! You gotta try much harder to have untidy workbench like mine. 8) I might picture it once to scare you all. Keep on trying ;D ;D ;D

Thank you guys. I love non-stop marker myself, and whenever I look at this synth I hear Kraftwerk in my head. Nice association. :) I think for name I will go something like DATA SID, or LOAD! @Jaicen Integrating commodore watch instead of mechanical counter would be really cool, but even if I could do it, those watches are pretty expensive and would be really bad to kill just for that. C64 cannot do much useful things today, but watch is always useful, especially if it`s geeky commodore watch.

I feel no guilt for killing commodores, rather pride. We are giving new life at least a part of it, and that is better than gathering dust. C64s was great computer once, but what for would somebody use it nowdays. I know lot of hardcore exC64 users that didnt turned it on for ages, and probably they never will. Maybe some day for short, just to recall the memories. Hey, we should go towards the future. Not all gear from the past are still useful. As Jaicen said:
-
Sure, you didnt. ;) But, hardly anybody here knows the difference (AFAIK) as nobody tested both, CEMs and SSMs. I know I like CEMs that much that I found my SIDs filters completely useless. Would I be satisfied with SSMs, probably yes. ...If not, the one I`ve haded will gather dust till somebody other buy it, maybe to fix some synth, maybe to make a new one. The guy is selling it because he wanted to make his own synth once but he gave up due to the lack of time. Time is passing, and If you ask me... it is better to do something with those chips now, than skip it because somebody will need it one day. Maybe it sounds selfish to you, but I look at it different. It is hard to change global deficits. In less than 30 years want be any oil left on earth, but people still use it same way. Who can afford it drives. I never owned a car or motorcycle (I`m 31), and I`m sure in the time I can afford one, to drive, it would be luxury. There will be electric cars, but there is also going to be vintage cars lovers, who appreciate that (analog) roaring sound. Nothing lasts forever... :-\ @Willba, It is really nice of you to help us to stop killing! ;D
-
Thank you all, very much. I didn`t expected you will like it that much. ...Lord of Recycle I`m honored Mike! I wanted to use bourns hollow encoder and connect it with belt to the counter, just for fun, but I gave up because I didnt like the quality of that encoder very much.

Sorry for being first. I thought of that long time ago, and it was strange to me nobody did it. So, I thought, It is final time to do it... ;D

Hi Seppoman, I understand your worries. They makes pretty much sense. It would be shame some old synth cannot be fixed because no more chips left, or they are very expensive. But at the other hand... those synts are already very expensive and only richest people can afford it. I personally hardly can afford any modern gear, not to talk of some vintage stuff. Only solution for me is to make my own MB based hardware. It is hard to feel for those rich people from my position. ...Tons of stuf laying around, and they mostly dont use it, but hey, looks nice in their studio. I recently saw some kind of Orbital interview, and my heart hurts when I saw guy dig a 303 full of dust somewhere from the floor :'( Anyway, I`m sorry for gear very much, but I am not sorry, at all, for most of the owners. You know, when you are rich, you don`t really apreciate gear you have. If you brake your Prophet, oh, shit... you`ll buy another one, but If you are poor, you`ll love your few CEMs more than a mother. Not really, but you get my point... Other thing is, you need to kill 8 commodores for one Willba`s synth. Commodore lovers often tells me... you kill C64 for this??? And I reply ashamed... I killed 4. :-[ It is just a matter what vintage gear you love. We all here have more love for synths than for computers, and that is why we are killing so many C64`s. The reason I want analog filter is clear, SID filter sucks! Blame Thorsten. ;) I heard how beautiful SID+CEM sounds. I wanted to make only one CEM filter as they are "still" very expensive, and I just cant afford to have 4. Other alternative for me is to make SSM2044 filter. If you make PCB for SSM, I would rather make this version than CEM. Thanks In advance. PS. I hope you didn`t get me wrong.

Oh man, no... I`m modest. It would be too much... I just made nice case mod, nothing more... what is under the hood is what counts. If you look with recycling eyes, inspiration comes easily. But, often recycling makes something looks trashy, like my Woody synth which is made that way deliberately, but personally I prefer something much finer.

Thanks Sepp. Der Brat is yours... one of the olders SIDs around. :) I was looking for drive like yours at flea market after I saw how it can looks good, but I had no luck finding one. I found one from Atari, made whole out of plastic but I dont like it so much.

What do you think of CEM 3320 + SID comparing to CEM 3378/79? I`m far from expert for tese questions. Here is datasheets of both: http://www.synthtech.com/cem/c3320pdf.pdf http://www.synthtech.com/cem/c3378pdf.pdf I also have possibility to buy these chips: CEM 3320 VCF 18 EUR CEM 3372 VCF VCA 20 EUR SSM 2056 EG 24 EUR SSM 2044 VCF 15 EUR (I`ve seen this one much cheaper on ebay) all suggestion are wellcome

Thank you guys, I`m trying... About the name.. well, I usually have no problem to think of name, but I see some super-cool names or nicks other think of all the time, so thought maybe other would name it better one. :)
-
"Press Play" don`t sounds much like name to me, but it would be really cool as a sticker on it. I thought of adding it on LCD bootscreen. About the 1530... well, I already have 6581 on door, so it will be too much of noumbers. Thank you for your proposition.
-
This is my latest creation. You all know what I modified. :) Not completely finished as I need to wait Saturday to buy DIN connectors. Mechanical counter will be put back in place and power LED needs to be connected. Leaver of mechanical buttons are used to activate micro switches mounted at the same button holder plate that is cut out of the rest of the mechanics. Doors are swapped with piece of "smoked" transparent acrylic that is masked at the back and rest is sprayed with black paint. Only masked center for display is left clear. Writings are engraved and filled with acrylic paint. I add 4 hex screws more for aesthetically reasons than even they are holding the door against the rest of the casing. I need to think of some name for it to add it between door and buttons, so if you have some cool name for it in your mind you are welcome to propose it. Or I`ll call it just Data SID... Here are few pix...

Thank you Thorsten for your answers. I must check, but think there is no negative delay for program change in Ableton Live. Anyway, I really like that feature, and I will add it to the Live`s improvement list.

All clear. :) Thanks
