Does anyone know what the hole size is on the MB6582 control surface for the LEDs and matrix buttons? Thought I'd seen it somehwere but can't find it now. S

Thats the spirit! Yes, test and get working the core and LCD, first step for sure. Post back your results and you'll be up and running soon. S

Hi Christian What makes you think it is a dead end? This is MIDIBox and there is always a way! What have you done to find the fault so far? If you power up the core with an LCD attached can you see any messages? Keep at it fella, you'll get there. S

No problem at all, hope it wasn't teaching Grandma to suck eggs. If you're happy looking at the word READY. just wait until you make sound from a 1980's computer chip! S

Because we are too tired to write it fully? Problem has been solved, don't know what caused it initially but its gone now. It does help greatly of course if you aren't loading an older version thinking its the newer one! Time for sleep. S(parx)

Slight update and thanks for the reply. In answer to your question, I have two Wilba SID V2, one is fully working with 8 6582's and one was fully working with 8 8580's. 6582 box has MIOS 1.9g with V2R35, 8580 had 1.9f with an earlier version of SID V2. Loading up 1.9g on the 8580 caused the control surface to disappear, the knobs did things but the buttons didn't. Tried a number of things to get back to a working machine, which I now have. Its currently at 1.9g with version R17 of the SID V2 software. S

Hi all OK just uploaded MIOS 1.9g followed by setup_8580.hex 2rc35 onto a previously working box and now the control surface doesn't respond like it used to. Have 2 boxes here, one is stuffed with 6582's thats working fine, at switch I get great blinky lights on the matrix, with this one it does nothing and all the buttons seem to have different functions. Any ideas anyone? Thanks S

Go to the directory where Perl is installed, lets say its om the root of C: ,from where you are type cd.. <enter> cd.. <enter> then type cd perl <enter> Should get you into the Perl directory, then run the perl script, helps if the file you are converting is in the same directory. Its been a while since I did it so may have missed something. Let us know how you got on. Regards Sparx

How do I upload preset patches into Sammich SID?
sparx replied to vintagestar's topic in MIDIbox SID
I had no end of trouble trying to upload the patches using XP and a USB MIDI cable. It was only the patches that gave trouble though, the MIOS to 1.9g went fine as did the MB6582 application but trying to load the sysex gave all kinds of errors, gave up in the end and used an old win 98 laptop and MIDI-OX. Worked first time. -
Or the seller could be asked to test one? As I said earlier he is a long time dealer in all things C64 and it would be a shame for more iffy SIDs to enter the market place, not good for anyone in the long run really.

Date code of 0511? The seller is an experienced, well known and respected Commodore dealer, supplied with a 30 day warranty so if all is not as it seems there should be no problem. S

He's a MIDIBox member. I won't name him but he's an all round good fella and very talented. S

Looking For Someone To Complete Last Stages of My MB-6582
sparx replied to toneburst's topic in MIDIbox SID
Toneburst Have sent you a PM. I'm bound to be closer than Germany! Sparx -
You need a MIDI Merge unit, takes multiple outs and merges them to one which you connect to your PC. S
-
The two chips have the same pinouts EXCEPT that the power supply pins are reversed. If you can solder jumper wires, you may be able to get around this or use lots of stripboard and connectors. Outputs of DOuts go to inputs of driver chips, output to the magnets of the pipes. HTH Sparx

Hello all, I am building yet another musical instrument and need some parts from Radio Shack which no longer seem to trade in the UK and don't deliver here either. So, am asking if anyone in the US is willing and able to purchase a few small items (I have the stock codes) and send them to me in the UK? All costs will, of course, be reimbursed. Thanks and regards Sparx

Sold! Thanks to all those who replied, shame they were so heavy that the shipping was prohibitive. But am pleased to say they have found new homes. Best wishes to all. S

I have two short (37 note) but full size keyboards originally from a Hammond electronic organ, with connectors. Have used them with MIDIBox but I don't need them anymore. Anyone interested in giving them a good home? They are in London, UK Regards S

Just a post to say thanks to /tilted/, you are a star and the keyboard is now installed. Thanks to everyone who offered to help too. Cheers. S

I'd be interested in one, maybe two of these and am happy to bid if no-one else is going to but do agree, no need to bump the price up. Regards S

Goblinz and /tilted/ You both have PMs! Regards Sparx
