Do you have acrylic (plastic) windows covering the lcd displays? If so do you make them yourself or buy them pre cut? If you bought them please let us know where to get them.

I would imagine if you put program changes into a pattern you would switch though patterns while jamming out and have a delay because your synth takes 1-3 secs to change its patch. I honestly think that if live use is main focus I wouldn't want it like a pc program that plays/switches everything for you BUT sometimes I might find it useful aswell. If you want to do it TK I say go for it and give people the option if they wanna use these features or not. I would always have track #1 be my nord, track #2 be sampler and so on... because l don't wanna worry about things like setup when inpsriation hits. Sorry if thats not a very good answer to your question. Just chiming in. Regards Echopraxia.

Will you be able to change pitch some how for each individual drum hit? I always like pitching drums sounds at different steps in a sequence. I would expect that you would not be able to so within drum tracks and only be able to do that in full featured tracks yes? Or pitch the individual sound in your synth/sampler. I like your ideas of a/b/c/d live jamming and I think that would be cool with full featured tracks aswell. I apologize in advance for posting possibly non needed comments as I haven't played with my unfinished MBSEQ v3 for awhile. I was previously testing it with my controller keyboard.

BPM display with 7-segment LEDs... how?
Echopraxia replied to creekree's topic in Testing/Troubleshooting
Take a look at the MBSEQ hardware options page for the bpm DOUT schematic. http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_seq/mbseq_v3_bpm_digits.pdf -
Could someone fill me in what controls these would be good for in a mbsid, mbfm or mbseq?
-
Wouldn't it be nice if wilba designed his mbseq bulk front panels with these switches. Just a thought... Probably more effort than its worth at this point I guess. They look like old tr-707 buttons :D

In regards to midi file import and export. When you say load a midi file into the seq will it assign all the midi tracks in the midi file to their repsective tracks on the MBSEQ? I know we want to keep this a LIVE sequencer but I thought it would be nice to make a song on the sequencer and record all the live action to PC sequencer and make edits on PC then be able to transfer song back to MBSEQ with new edits. Any thoughts? My thinking is for swaping between studio use and live use. Were all rooting for you TK! Regards, Echopraxia

I recently just purchased this one http://www.skycraftsurplus.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1100 It doesn't say switched but does not have the 5v 4a section. I have it and it seems like good build quality but I am no expert. I am planning on using it for an mbfm in the next month or two aswell. Hope I got a good one. If the one your thinking of getting works out let me know.

I was curious TK with all the extra functions planned for v4, about how many extra buttons do you think will be implmented or optional? I am mainly asking because maybe Wilba would want to add extra buttons on the bulk v3 he is running. So in the future we could just replace the core and have the extra functionality already installed. Maybe this has alrady come up and please excuse me if it has. P.S where is the MBSEQ v4 mockup picture that you speak of? Regards, echo

Did any one purchase a few of those $15 12v PS from here? http://www.skycraftsurplus.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=439 Out of stock. I was hoping to start my MBFM sometime soon. If any one has an extra one in the US they would be willing to sell please PM me. Thanks.

Might as well add to the post. I have been using vista 64 ultimate for a few months and it has been pretty solid. I got it because I splurged on a quad core and 4gb of ram and was thinking I would probably want 8gb or ram in the future. I was thinking about going back to xp aswell but maybe just going to vista 32 bit is the way to go. My 64 bit vista has problems when it comes to installing software or just plain using it. Besides that it is very nice but the speed increase with 64 bit is barely noticable and the quad core kicks much major ass anyways. If you wanna use VSTs, quad core is the way to go. if your using hardware synths and effects just get reg xp or vista as cheap as possible and try reaper as your sequencer. Its free to try and I think its more productive than major sequencers. or just use MBSEQ and be happy.

I don't know if this has been discussed or implemented. I didnt see it on the feature list. Tempo track? with glide function for smoothness? It would be nice to do "real time record" tempo changes in a sequence and assign each tempo change to one of the 16 gp stepbuttons. What I am saying is have a tempo track where each 16 step buttons trigger a pre constructed tempo change. I.E go from one swirly 16 step slow down on tempo pattern GP 1 and be able to press GP 2,3,4, ect. and go to for instance a 32 step rise and fall tempo. I think this would make for cooler breakdowns and acid trips since you would be able to alter tempo in dramatic ways on the fly.

MB-SEQ V3/V4 Control Surface PCB and matching case
Echopraxia replied to Wilba's topic in MIDIbox SEQ
Hopefully the new 32 core can be hot wired to ultra's core? I would hate to let all those bankstick and midi ports of the ultracore go. Were there is a will...ba there is a tk way. -
A track is considered the same thing as pattern? And 128 steps would be 8 bars if I am understanding correctly? Sounds good to me. Zooming out to see every track and how many bars there are all at once? Is there an option to change how the track moves to the next track. I.E imediately or at the next bar option. I guess sync would become a problem though but not by much. Also maybe add a delay to the live trigger page which would repeat notes and fade the velcoity on the repeats or whatever customizable to scales ect... Do you think backwards scrub would now be possible? :D When ever I have more time when I am not juggling three kids, wife, friends, work, and music I really want to contribute to midibox in some way.

But why not just have more for each track rather than using more tracks for just one sound ect..? About tempo control issues. I was saying to maybe have an F function button to control the usage by reverting the tempo back to normal sync when released/pressed vice versa maybe user selectable. Individual tempo would still be cool but I was thinking of temporary changes that would sync back up. I hope I am explaining myself well. Maybe this feature would only be good for crack heads??? I am not sure if it woudl be cool in the long run though. personally i'd rather see this seq stay a step seq... the usage and editing requirements are quite different for a high res midi seq, i think enough so that such a thing would deserve it's own application... If your talking about micro editing between steps I can see your point here. Maybe just having long patterns like 16 bars long at 128th would work just aswell ;) I still like the idea of retriggering steps or multiple steps for breakbeat stuff and fills. That was were the tempo thing came up as I was hopeing to retrigger steps and adjust tempo at same time. labels sound very nice too for naming CCs, patterns ect... USB keyboard input anyone? I don;t know much about the Song mode as I have only tinkered with V3 alittle for testing but does it save only patterns used in the song? I was thinking you could still load other patterns into the song but then just resave the song. Is this how it is already?
-
Does this mean 128 steps in a bar for micro editing? I was thinking replace the 2x multi triggers of the notes and be able to put extra notes in between the 16 steps but not have them be dependent on any of the 16 steps. I would like to make sounds that speed up and slow down by making a bunch of notes tightly packed together. Maybe use forward and backward keys to advance to next micro step while editing. I was also thinking to have way more layers per track so we can have orchestral polyphony and 16-32 CCs per track for autechre editing.I.E pan, notes, vel, aftertouch, and all the other CCs per track please. I think this would make for big yippie! And no limit to a patterns length. Aleast if it could be 8-16 bars for string stuff. And if that happens maybe we could get a small lcd that displays all the tracks kinda like on the tr-707 and the MBseq multi led expansion. Don't forget about the real time note retrigger functions we discussed earlier. Could we control tempo of indiviual track and have tempo spring back to normal when special button is released/pressed? Is it to much to ask for more than 16 tracks. Like 64 maybe :) Now we need ultracore x32 before I even use the first one. TK your freakin awsome. I will now stfu.

Does this work with Vista 64 :P not much does :'( I need to get a dual boot with XP 32. Seriously though I am in for a couple at least if they arent too much. I am just thinking by the time you buy all the parts and cheap case you may be better off just buying used consumer models. I do need something to go with my Ultracore. Maybe I could wire the midi leads on the ultra core directly to this board and have MBSEQ with usb out the back. SEXY Thanks NILS!

Who wants +/-15 and +5 triple secondary toroids?
Echopraxia replied to Doug Wellington's topic in Bulk Orders
Hey Doug I put my name on the aiting list for the 3rd kit run of MB 808 and its been awhile since I've check up on the site. Do I need to get one for MB 808 on this wiki or are you including this toroid in the MB 808 kits when the time comes? Also is this good for MB FM and MB 6582 specifically? -
Is this a good deal if picked up locally. I don't know jack about em but I can dream of owning one. http://cgi.ebay.com/CNC-Mill_W0QQitemZ280260832769QQihZ018QQcategoryZ12584QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Back to my previous question about note repeat functions. How about a way to repeat the multiplers dynamically? I.E maybe pressing a special button which changes multipler ammounts/settings on the fly in real time? So when you press it you can have stuttering notes ect..?

Echopraxia replied to nebula's topic in Bulk Orders
Neb Thanks a second time! Hopefully soon I will have my MB finished with your knobs and lcds. -
I did think about this and it makes good sense time wise. Me likey And about the speeding up and down part I was thinking of having control over the studdering step repeat effect so it goes ddddddddddddddd d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d d . Sorry only way to describe effect ;) I would think maybe just adjusting the actual song tempo would work fine yes? I just wouldn't have control of individual track stutter speed. :-\ The idea of having individual tempo/divider control of every track that would revert back to master sync tempo/divider after doing repeat steps would be very attractive. I can dream. Are you saying have the repeated step trigger 2x speed, 3x speed , 4x speed or trigger only 2 times, 3 time , 4times? I was thinking hold the special button down untill you want to stop repeating. I kinda understand the functionality your describing though. I think a menu would be awsome regardless. :) Now only if it could scramble radar transmissions in sync with the beat :P TK your a man on a mission.

Sorry to bump in on doors question. I was thinking about live uses and thought about this. Is there some kind of function for repeating steps? I am not refering to multi-trigger of the step. I am thinking about actualy repeating the current step multiple times (going back in time I guess) by press + hold function button and twisting the tempo knob at the same time to make stuttering drum and bass style play. Maybe the timing of the repeat can be determined by the master divider? I imagine this would make for another parameter in a menu page. I was also thinking if this concept is possible for a single track, muliple selectable tracks or all tracks. One dedicated button for single-multi tracks and one button for all tracks. I don't quite know how doing only certain tracks would work but these are all just thoughts. About the tempo control. I was thinking the tempo knob would adjust either the tempo while pressing the pattern repeat or adjust the divider and possibly having the original value stored in memory so when you let go of the pattern repeat button, your original tempo or divider will be back and your still in the groove. Maybe even sending the multiple repeats to the midi outs on/off for extra wierd stuff? Maybe doing any of this at any step or even only at the first step is not possible at all. :( I am no code master and maybe only half of this idea would work. If there is anything I can add or adjust in the text editor asm to at least do a repeat function that would be a start. Regards
