  1. LOL! I suggest this case
  2. I think I fried my first extra Midi in & out kit from smash (Well, The Pic got mighty hot, then it didn't get hot no more) I've now got an extra one, and am wondering if anyone else has installed one of these? I'm sure there are people out there that have installed one with out probs.. It all seems pretty simple.. but I obviously screwed it up. I also can't seem to find on the schems what the polarity of the 3 LED's on the kit are.. The Smash site does not seem to detail this.. (Please correct me if I'm wrong) Much regards Mike
  3. yea, I'm thinking of keeping with the "on the cheap" DIY with that, And making some.. but def on the chrome / silver / aluminium side.
  4. Been a bit side tracked with work... but finished yesterday.. just gotta find some knobs. IMG_0066.JPG
  5. Sweet! Done and Done!
  6. Daft Punk Live.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c14T6Af8zJg Amen.
  7. I'm still a Midibox newb, but I've now got 1.6 projects under my belt, and I'd love to try and midify my Korg Poly6, and eventually a Jupiter 4.. But as i've read briefly that someone has been able to midify a P6 already, I'd like to start there. So... Where do I start? I understand the concept of the keyboard matrix, but how do I use that information to go ahead and midify something.. write the code etc? What sort of information should I be gathering? Or is this too a big project for my newb midibox brain? Much regards Mike
  8. All from ebay, HKSS. 9. you must have very very picky tastes for $20 each! The buttons I used were about 70c each.
  10. Just wire up a few more buttons & Leds.. I'm digging the chrome on chrome on red action. Led's are go 2.JPG
  11. Now I'm just waiting on more buttons to arrive, and i'll be pretty much ready to finish it off.. oh, and some knobs. Mike
  12. and more Led's are go..JPG

  14. I've started building another sequencer, this ones for gigs, so more robust, and a bit cheaper to build. It's made from a found box and a found bit of aluminium. My first sequencer was all PCB mount, and while looks brilliant,, the PCB mounted switches made everything just that little bit harder to line up with the panel.. (No CAD, just a pencil). I'll post pics for that one when I replace the MDF face with a Proper one from Schaeffer. Me and a few friends are building one each, and I've gone for panel mount everything to make construction a little easier for my technically challenged mates. I've done everything by hand, with a cordless drill, jig saw, file and some sand paper. It's not exactly perfect, but it's coming along nicely. Regards Mike. Lightly sanded.JPG
  15. I'm not that clued up on this Synth, but it sound like not all the voices are working.. is it always three presses between sounds? beep, silence, silence, silence, beep, silence, silence, silence? Regards Mike
  16. Give it?! How about Trade it! I had (Until recently) an Apple IIGS that I found on the side of the road! As for the Mirage, Yea, it's resting against a Simmons claptrap, a few Tama Drum synths, Roland JX3p, a few mixers, a Hammond drum machine, Alesis QS6, CR8000 and a Memorymoog. The Mirage does sound cool, but is a bitch to use.. I prefer the S950 or Prophet2002. ... joking about the memorymoog.
  17. I got one of those in my garage (rack version).. but it's a sampler ja? Cheers, Mike
  18. Yea, it already has about 6 different types of Swings, all with 16 different intensity values. The swing is on the money as far as I'm concerned (And I own a Linndrum) Cheers Mike
  19. Cool! Looks sharp! I recognise those buttons, I was looking at those in Jaycar (A electronics store in Australia) the other day. Also, the centre button, I was looking at getting some of those, but was unsure about it specs etc.. How hard is it to press the centre button? Is the LED 12volt? (does it have a limiting resistor in it?) Regards Mike
  20. Well, I'm pretty new here, and I built my first MB project (The SEQ3) not long ago, and I'm about to start building another one + helping 2 friends build theirs. I'm not sure if this will help, but here's what I did for mine. 1 x Core kit + PIC 18F4620 - from SmashTV 3 x Din Kit - Smash 1 x Dout Kit - Smash 1 x Midi Kit - Smash 17 x Encoders - Smash 8 x Eeprom 24LC512 for banksticks 50 x 10way IDC connectors - ebay $12 2 x 16Way IDC connectors - Electronics store 5 x Large bits of veroboard. - ebay $15 2 x LCD's (40x2 backlit) - ebay $15 each 2m of Ribbon cable - Electronics store $5 50 x Push buttons with built in LED's - ebay $50 (I didn't need that many buttons, but they were cheap) 50 x Push buttons - ebay $10 1 x Large Knob - Pinched it off broken VCR 16 x Small knobs - had them lying around. 1 x Case - Built it out of nice wood, while hanging out with my dad. ;] Veroboard is a prototype bit of circuit board in which you can build circuits up.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veroboard Check out these people on ebay for some parts you might like / want / need. http://stores.ebay.com.au/PARTSPIPE_ALL-SWITCHES_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ11012343QQftidZ2QQtZkm http://cgi.ebay.com.au/10pin-IDC-Socket-x-50pcs-Tin-Plated_W0QQitemZ350067001665QQihZ022QQcategoryZ117488QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD2VQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em122 http://cgi.ebay.com.au/HD44780-40x2-STN-LCD-w-LED-back-light-Pot-TEG16610_W0QQitemZ130227742308QQihZ003QQcategoryZ26206QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD2VQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em122 Goodluck! Mike
  21. I love the fact that amongst it all, you've got a Mirage tucked away up there..
  22. I'm guessing this is another topic.. But I use it in the studio alone, or when we jam, and I've got a gig in a couple of weeks, And I'll be using it then.. I don't think it needs to be loaded with everything & the kitchen sink, It's pretty much the best hardware phrase sequencer out there AMEN.. I think if recording goes polyphonic & realtime record is a little more easier to deal with, It will be perfect.. I've got a heap of classy hardware.. And this thing knocks the socks off me.. - It's shuffle is stunning.. sleazy if you want, bordering on triplets if you need, all without sounding awkward. - The arpeggio is damn cool, and inspiring. - The direction modes, while at first seemed a bit gimmicky for me, sure are a source of inspiration if you get stuck (in conjuntion with sync to measure) - The force to scale is pretty special too.. especially if you wanna turn out a riff in D minor.. the saddest of all keys. - It's been made by me (I didn't design it tho ;[ ) - The fact pretty much everything can be done stopping helps! - The way note lengths are implemented rocks.. I'm interested in how others use it? Regards Mike
  23. Thats interesting, I would have thought that a delay that is proportional to the tempo would have been more intuitive.. Would a fixed delay also be out of 'whack' at higher tempo's? I don't know about you, but 'Tap Tempo' is pretty low on my wish list.. Probably because my SEQ3 is slaved to Protools. But I can see that there would be many others who would deem it essential. Anyway, it's good to know that someones working on a possible solution.. To be honest, I use the real time record more than anything on this sequencer, And would love to see polyphonic recording implemented (I know that is a BIG ask). I was thinking, that instead of using different layers etc, Polyphonic recording could apply to a group of 4 tracks simultaniously. The lowest note being on track 1, the second on 2, 3rd on 3 etc. With 16 tracks running, I honestly see no real need to make polyphonic recording on 1 track (using chord mode etc). Anyway, thats my BIG BIG wish for the day... and I know it's a tall order. Thanks again for your feedback to my feedback. I've got 3 friends who are itching to make a SEQ3 after seeing 1/10th of what it can do! Regards Mike
  24. On a side note, (this might seem obvious) but you would want the sequencer to echo out the note in real time (no delay) , but the note sent to the recorder would be delayed. Regards Mike
  25. Yea! Thats an great solution, assuming it can be implemented easily? That way, naturally late keyboard players would have a delay of 0 (assuming we are talking about 96th's) and naturally early players might set it to say 10 96th's. Regards Mike
