  1. While I have srio_interconnection_test_v1b running, should I be touching ground and RC for one test and ground and SC for another test? I don't fully understand what I should be checking for...
  2. Looking good so far! ...All the nice looking boxes lately make me really want to get mine completed soon.
  3. Everything is good there. 5.11 volts, at each ic and all are inserted correctly.
  4. Pardon my ignorance, but I don't quite get what I should be doing with this application. I took a look at the readme, but don't really understand what I should be doing with my multimeter here.
  5. I don't have a digital camera to be able to post pictures, but the connection from J1 on the DIN module to J9 on the core should be 1 to 1 correct? (asside from SI to SO that is) I double and tripple checked the wiring from J3 on the DIN to the individual buttons, and everything there looks correct. I did initially have some mistakes there, but I quickly noticed and corrected them.
  6. Ok, I don't see CS disabled on the LCD, so that's out of the way. I uploaded the ain64_din128_dout128_v2b application. Now, I'm assuming that the way that app works is that when I push one of the buttons it should register in the LCD, because currently that's not happening. Or am I completely misunderstanding this?
  7. This might be a stupid question, but where is the option to enable the CS? I never knowingly disabled it, but if it's that way by default. That would definately be a problem.
  8. I'm building an MBSID using the modular boards from Smash. So far I've got 1 core, 2 SIDs, LCD, Bankstick, and 1 DIN. Everything seemed to be working great until I connected the DIN module, I get sound out of each SID. Things are going great, or so I thought. I only connected select buttons 1-5 the menu button and the menu encoder so I could be sure that much was working before I moved on the the rest of my CS. No such luck however, there's no response on the LCD when I push any of the buttons or turn the encoder. I've searched the forums and wiki for similar issues, most of what I found was software related where the some of buttons weren't enabled but others worked. That's not the case here. I also checked the wiring of the buttons to be sure they weren't accidentally wired wrong, but that's not the case either. Having put asside this project for a while and now, and starting up again and immediately running into issues is very frustrating. So any help on this will be very much appreciated.
  9. well, here is what I ordered: http://www.harwin.com/M20-106/M20-1060500-product.html you can search for distributors here: http://www.harwin.com/contact/distributors/ I had to get the pins separately
  10. I just use needle nose pliers :) I'll let you know if that works on the mouser ones
  11. never mind, I found the little bastards.
  12. Anybody know the part number for the 5 pin Female Connectors that are available at Smash TV's shop? I accidentally bought several 4 pin connectors where I needed 5 pin ones instead for my DIN modules. Oops! I've searched high and low on mouser.com and can't seem to find them. Thanks, Jeff
  13. that is one sick looking synth! very nice indeed.
  14. I have definitely not done 1000 repairs and have fried an LCD with static, not quite as expensive as a $1200 card, but I nearly cried in my beer over it none-the-less.
  15. My only concern would be that it would probably be too thin if you want engraving done. If you're not getting engraving done it would probably be much much cheaper to find someone local to do the work for you.
  16. It's not just you, I thought the same thing :P
  17. Yep, it'll work. That's what I've got running right now as my control surface isn't complete.
  18. lol, no I had a cd book stolen containing nearly my entire cd collection which had mostly other peoples music in it as well as my own.
  19. I wouldn't go with the super bright white, which brings to mind the conversation on here not long ago over blue leds. Diffused white leds would probably look great though.
  20. An MBSid is definately more road worthy that's for sure, the 6582 or the modular one really. Honestly I don't really think you can compare the two. The Fatman is surely a one-trick-pony, but that one trick it does, it does really well. That coming from my whole week's worth of experience with it. :) It seems to me that when my MBSid is complete, it will match up pretty well with the fatman sound.
  21. Very nice! I just put my MBSid project aside for a while to build a Fatman too. And while my woodworking skills leave a lot to be desired, I put the whole thing in a cherry stained wood case complete with two octave keyboard from doepfer. Sooner or later I'll share pics. (I don't have a digital camera that's worth a shit)
  22. I definitely hear that! Not necessarily midibox related, but I have a crap ton of DIY projects queued up and/or half finished. It's getting out of control.
  23. +1 for the orange one in this pic
  24. I have the same LCD, they really are nice and bright
  25. I'm pretty much in the same boat, since '98 when I started there have been alot of mishaps with my various DAWs and most of my CDs from way back when have been damaged and/or stolen.
