  1. Thanks for the tips. The Regina listing is mine - it's where I used to live, but eBay doesn't seem to want to allow it be changed. I have revised the listing to include my forum username, and the original post with my asking price.
  2. I have a v1 MB808 kit (has everything you need minus a case and faceplate) that I never got around to completing - it has a partially stuffed power supply section and that's all that has been done on it so far. Note: this is also listed on eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Midibox-808-TR-808-clone-kit-/201537247874), but I will pull the listing if a deal can be arranged here. I am located in Vancouver, Canada. Asking $699 CDN (OBO)
  3. I built a sammichFM that came out of the first batch. I never got sound out of it and never had the time to do much troubleshooting on it. The boards are populated, but is missing some of the hardware to assemble the case. The LCD lights up and it passed voltage tests from what I can remember, but I honestly haven't touched it in months. I think this is usually due to shoddy soldering of the surface mount chips? $100 USD shipped within North America, as-is. If no takers this week, it will go into storage as I am moving to the place the kit originated from! -Colin

    MIDIBox 808

Are you interested in building it yourself or just having a sequencer? If you don't care and it doesn't have to Midibox, there's other options out there too. For example, see: http://www.beat707.com/w/ Or I could sell you my TR-727 ;)
  5. I've never been to Berlin, but I've often heard that this is a really cool store: http://www.schneidersbuero.de
  6. Without really knowing what would be considered "cheap", have you had a look at e-sonic? I was browsing their site today and noticed they had some. I've never ordered from them, but they're Canadian...
  7. Sorry, didn't see your reply but it has now been sold.
  8. Ah yeah, that's a tough situation and I totally understand why you wouldn't want to keep money/space tied up. One would think this particular project would have interest to those outside of the Midibox community, but I'm not going to comment further since it's not my baby :)
  9. Hello, I've decided to sell my assembled/tested sammichSID in order to raise some funds for my upcoming trip to Burning Man. I am the original owner and bought both 6582A SIDs from Wilba when I got the kit. LCD is the default negative yellow/green. The case is painted with acrylic paint. I am including a North American regulated, linear power supply unless you really don't want it. Looking for $300 + tracked shipping (I expect $15-25) or free local pickup on the playa ;) Payment shall be made through Paypal and I strongly prefer to sell to someone within North America to avoid hassles. I'll pop Wilba a PM with the username of the new owner if/when this sells. *pics to follow* Cheers, Colin
  10. That's the best way to find something you've lost seemingly forever - buy a replacement!
  11. Are the chips still available from the supplier for future runs of this?
  12. www.reddit.com/r/learnprogramming can be a good resource. Make sure to also check out the links on the right hand side. Edit: I no can type on this netbook keyboard when lying down.
  13. Pure Magnetik makes sample packs for Ableton, so you might want to give them a try too: http://www.puremagnetik.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=75&Itemid=187
  14. Audio Damage's Tattoo is a very nice 'n affordable plugin to generate your own drums: http://www.audiodamage.com/instruments/product.php?pid=AD024
  15. Yeah was happy to find it after coming up empty handed on eBay (or at least not wanting to wade through all the crap results I was getting). They also seem to have good options for a sammichSID.
  16. This one looks like it will do (9 VDC/500 mA, regulated and linear), provided you live in North America: http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10001_10001_1953647_-1
  17. If I recall, I think its a clearance issue for when the two boards get sammiched together that sockets aren't included in the kit.
  18. Darn, I thought I signed up for this but doesn't look like I didn't. Therefore, I would like to be a happy fella :)
  19. Wilba: Is that list for chipsets or the sammichFM?
  20. Let me know if you need any YAC512, as I have some spares tucked away somewhere.
  21. I saw this video on Curious Inventor the other day and thought this would be handy for anyone building a MBFM, GM5 or other project involving surface mounted chips. It may not be new to you, but it was new to me and I will definitely be giving it a try. http://www.curiousinventor.com
  22. I *really* like my Weller WES51. You might want to check out Adafruit's tools forum, as this type of thread has been brought up there and answered several times: http://forums.adafruit.com/viewforum.php?f=44 Lots of good tips in there, plus advice on things like multimeters, oscilloscopes etc.
  23. Have you seen this thread:
  24. I have connected the output pins to the tip all of my jacks (just had one hooked up before) and tied the sleeves in with the core's ground and still nothing. I have also tried re-uploading the test tone app and reworking the solder joints on the 512s and the OPL3. Voltages all look good going in to the OPL3 module (+5v @ J2 and +12/0/-12v @ J3). I imagine it is time to start playing with the interconnections test?
