Hey... I've gotten hold of some nifty lil joysticks fitted with 10k pots. I'd like to use one of these in place of the 2 encoders for the filter section (cutoff/resonance)... Initialising the unmuxed ain driver is simple enough but I'm sumwhat at a dead-end trying to swap these filter encoders to the 2 pots instead... Cheers Dan

Hey Ian! You can do all conversion and learning of meta/fader/whatever events in the enviro and map regular cc's to just about any param this way...fader events are typically used for plugins/instrus/sends to enable track based automation over the prior 'object based' way... I used the FaderMapper enviro with my MB64 and it worked great - still using it now with my LC as it has much better handling for ie, plugins and instrus - chek it here: http://www.revolver.co.nz/fadermapper/ Also, have a look here - http://www.omega-art.com/logic/index.html and chek the 'AutoDemo' in particular... Finally, here's a pdf which list meta info relative to the enviro: http://www.swiftkick.com/downloads/metalist.zip Best Dan

Hey T! Will do. Cheers

Hey... Just seen Mackies new DXB (http://www.mackie.com/products/dxb/index.html) and it got me thinking - could a similar system be implemented with MIOS acting as the interface between the h/w and s/w with the aid of the forthcoming AOUT module and perhaps using a custom nix o/s on the s/w side... It seems theres enough knowledge around to get summin like this made, admittedly it'd be one vast and long project...but hey, what a project! and with good project planning and delegation of specifics areas of the design I think it could be a go'er. Imagine, an opensource fully automated modular mixer...:D Just a thought... Dan

Well, mebbe i spoke too soon...:/ Although, all sids seems to working, and the banksticks are all good - i'm getting a very nasty high pitched whine after a play a few notes into the SID... Here's what she sounds like: http://notapplicable.co.uk/mbhp/sidwhine.mp3 Again, i'm not sure of the prob... *EDIT* went back to the prior rls (midibox_sid_v1_5b_18f_stepC - working fine and with no whine! :) Cheers Dan

speaking of links... I think the ucapps site needs some fixing linkwise - atm any direct links - ie, say u wanted to show sum1 just the SID or mios section, it just returns you to the main page...so any new viewer would have to find the page themselves...which is tricky when there's a few various pages which can cover one project... I think a lot of q's which are asked here can be answered with a properly structured site... I did think of this a while back but then the new portal was born, which still needs more time to develop... Just a thought Dan

Scratch all that...:D New PIC sorted it...! SO, are 18F's prone to failures or is just a freak event?
-
well, that cleared that up then :(... any ideas what 'hardware' would cause this? I dont - and it was working fine before... Cheers Dan BTW: If it was a h/w prob as u say - why would mios 1.3 with the midibox_sid_v1_4_18f_stepB f/w load up okay? When i use this, it just does the formating bank bit at boot once, then goes to the main SID o/s screen. Yet with mios 1.4 and any 1.5 sid rls it's not, but was before? what a shitter....another box in bits
-
Doesn't make a diff when a bankstick is connected - same deal...turn on, says loading setup from bankstick, then proceeds to format the bankstick in a continous loop... Just to clear - this happens regardless if a banksick is connected or not

Hey T... Yes, all brds have been working (this is the original quadsid box i had goin....so 1k resistor is stuffed...and cheks ok... Best Dan
-
Yup that worked, cheers guys! So, is it now possible to also utilise a 16x2 (along with the two 2x40's) to just display the smtpe/mtc status? cheers Dan
-
great. i'm guessing a few buttons to select each bank would also be possible...? well, so i can load/edit diff patches on each SID seperately. However, I can't do anything now as I cant get the SID app to load at all :(. I was using the 18F in another core to test some 2x40s LCDs. When putting it back in the now controller-less SID box and loading the SID app back on I keep gettin endless 'Formatting Bank' loops on the LCD...tho there's no banksticks connected. I tried Mios 1.4/with lastest SID rls - tho i did test prior ones too, same deal - the only version that loaded correctly was when i used mios 1.3 with a old sid 1.4 f/w rls... Best Dan

Hey... Can the spacing between each channel ie: Audio 1 | Audio 2 | ... etc, be enlarged so there's more room between them...? Looking at this pic of Axel's LC (http://www.8ung.at/ucapps/midibox_gallery/axel15.jpg) it seems he has done just this - 2 (or even 3?) character spaces between each chan instead of the default one... Edit: Found the settings: ;; -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ;; Page0: ;; -------------------------------------------------------------------------- LC_CLCD_Init_Page0 ;; print status digits at position 38/2 SET_CLCD_STATUS 1, 38, 2 ;; print "SMPTE/BEATS" at position: 28/2 SET_CLCD_SMPTE_BEATS 0, 0, 0 ;; print MTC digits at position 27/3 SET_CLCD_MTC 0, 0, 0 ;; print host messages at position 12/0, (0=normal spacing) SET_CLCD_HOST_MSG 1, 12, 0, 0 ;; don't print meters SET_CLCD_METER 0, 0, 0, 0 ;; print rec/solo/mute status at 0/0 SET_CLCD_RSM_MSG 1, 0, 0 ;; print select status at 0/1 SET_CLCD_SEL_MSG 1, 0, 1 in the clcd.ini file. So, i've got rid of the SMTPE/MTC bit on the right, but i'm unsure from the settings above what effects the spacing between channels...

Is is possible to select a diff bankstick from the 3 I have connected via a sysex/midi msg?* Reason being - I no longer have a control surface, since I decided to make proper pcb's for the button/led/encoder brds cos I was sick of troubleshooting amongst a mass of wiring...so i ripped it all out in frustration, but the new brds aint done yet... Best Dan *Same goes for selecting each SID, setting LINK mode etc...

hey Pilo, is this what u meant? Later Dan

okay, good news...:) So, I have it like each key acting as a switch on 2 buss bars (NO and NC). With nothing pressed the keys all lie on the top bar and connect to the bottom bar when struck... How would the key contacts be treated in mios compared to the NO/NC contacts? I guess we could even have velocity sensitivity by using some kinda counter ye? Cheers Dan

On my quad 6581 box each SID sounds different. I came across a few which soundin very farty whilst testing sum of TK's patches - and the filter was the problem :/ Using 470pf caps here too... I have 4x 8580's too - just need to test them and then make up a quad8580 box n all - hopefully with much fuller filters! :) Best, Dan.

Okay, I just won a cpl of regular LED backlight 4x20's off ebay, so now I have these 2 Oatley's going spare, havn't been used (except 1 just to test) so if anyone want's em I'll let em go for the same price I paid - or roundabouts anyways...;) Best Dan

;D too much! i really need to get my head around some basic mios functions and code now! How's about 'MIOS For Dummies'? :P Congrats on all this TK, got urself a midibox army there! Peesh D

Hey... I've added 3 internal banksticks to my SID CS box, but I still want the option for an ext bankstick... Should the 9pin plug (and subsequant ext banksticks) be connected like the forth eeprom in this image: http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp/mbhp_multi_bankstick.gif or do i just connect as before - straight to J4 on core and keep everything wired like this: http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp/mbhp_bankstick.gif I guess either way will work, but the later option would mean when an ext bankstick is plugged in it'd replace the 1st internal bankstick right? Best Dan

okay, so this project seems a bit of a no-no...:/ I made up a pcb and converted the keys, but i'm gettin no midi out of it whatsoever :(. I'm sure the problem is in the asm file and the way i've gone about gettin it burnt to the PIC. I've tried emailing the fella but the email link on the site is returning msgs :/ - looks like he gave up on it n all then.... So, i'm left with a nice commadore 5 octave keyboard with the key's converted so they function as switches which hit 1 of 2 bus bars when struck. Same principle as in this image: These then are connected to this (think din/dout modules): My thinking now is, can MIOS step in and rescue this project? It'd be a nice1, and a good project for the new MB portal...:) Best... Dan

The problem was only my ignorance in not knowing that a psu need's a load to send the power to, and that if there isnt anything to send the caps will store the power which is why I was getting +5 on the +5 and +14 would drop down to +5 even when i switch of the psu... I'll get some pics up of the plug and breadboarded circuit in the next days if u dont get an answer b4 then... Best Dan
