  1. It comes in a roll, and is normally used to cover artwork and such - u get it from the stationers... Yes, u can also use the avery labels mentioned on another thred. Go to the printer paper section of ur local office supplies (or such) shop... Best Dan
  2. Pics of the ADC brd so far :) And those pcms were done using this clapped out soldering iron i got from the local newsagents yrs ago :P - my 'decent' one broke :/ But ebay got me this :) http://ebay0.ipixmedia.com/abc/M28/_EBAY_9beb27346ba0928c24466ada6eb86a18/i-1.JPG Best Dan
  3. Hey Gilles! yeah, i'm down with the modular idea :) so we can use an external rackmount box and connect it to the sblive via a 25pin D type cable... Peesh Dan
  4. Hey ppl.... 3rd PCM added and working :) I dont have any more to test with now tho :/... BTW, for toslink connectors I got a cpl from this place: http://www.cooltronix.com/shop/index.html Best Dan
  5. heyhey... A little update, i etched the quad ADC brd Pilo and Smash put together and I stuffed 2 of the 4 PCM chips. Needless to say they work :) Great work fellaz, this is gonna expand into one mighty project I can see :) I wonder if we could ever get near to apogee conversion quality somehow - obviously not with these 10k chips but mebbe sum1 has a few tricks up they're sleeve :P Best Dan
  6. first time round i used a fibreglass cutting wheel and a dremel - worked, but u get thru a few wheels and the result is not that clean :P 2nd time round, i drilled a row of 2mm holes for each of the fader slots then routed and filled inside to get it all nice n clean - much better results, tho it does take time...
  7. Hey... As far as I know, I think you connect via the digital midi i/o pins on the core module... Best Dan
  8. Thanks T...that has put my mind at rest now :) D'ya think a MIOS port of this app is doable? i'm assuming I could include more features - or perhaps it'd be best to use this as is and use a sep core module for any further processing... Cheers Dan
  9. lol TK, where do these ideas come from damn u!!! :D Amazing stuff man! Is it connected to the tv via just a regular aerial cable and then tuned in on any channel? Or have u used a scart socket and used the A/V chan? Best Dan
  10. Hey.... Yes, I beleive so :) Chek these 2 links for more info: http://monopole.ph.qmw.ac.uk/~thomas/synthdiy/frontpanel.htm http://www.lazertran.com/ Cheers Pilo :) I'll get some more pics soon.... Indeed Steve!! The tunes are a flowin now - I just gotta learn to stop using the keyboard n mouse :P Peeesh Dan
  11. Hey... So, I started a conversion on an old commadore 5octave keyboard i bought for peanuts to use as a bog standard midi controller kb with velocity sensitvity based on the project on this site: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/derek.johnson/ I've sucessfully adapted the key's to form switches on the top and bottom rails and have breadboarded the pcbs which were quick to do. Now i need to burn the PIC (uses the 16F877 as in mbhp), the .zip file for the project (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/derek.johnson/velokbd.zip) contains an .asm file which i kinda thought I could load in a new project in mplab, build a new hex file and then burn that to the pic via icprog. Is that correct? I get errors msgs when it builds the hex file (even tho it does it) and then when i load the hex file in icprog i get more msg about bytes being swapped or summin :/ The Pic did burn tho... I was thinking however - could this code in the asm file be implemented in MIOS sumway? the IC's it uses to decode the switches before sending to the PIC are some 74HC138s - could I make up a special din module that uses these? Best Dan
  12. Hey Steve From my understnding I can upgrade my old midibox64 board to the 18F chip/firmware by just replacing the xtal right? That's right :) Also, i think TK is planning to make use of 3 encoders in the 18F rls too :) What tricks they do tho - I dont know :) best Dan
  13. Hey... I've been burnin 16f/18f's fine without any of these changes, this resistor fix for the 18f is not essntial is it? I mean, if an 18f is burnt fine on a jdm without these fixes and seems okay - it's fine then right? Best Dan

    C64 Bits

Well, after gathering all my SIDs and C64 psu's over a very long period, I came acoss this link...figures eh: http://www.vintagefunworld.com/ SIDs are only $3, and they sell C64 psu's at $8 Best Dan
  16. looks like Kenton has started this wireless lark: http://sound-on-sound2.infopop.net/2/OpenTopic?a=tpc&s=215094572&f=594090574&m=1703015837&r=1703015837#1703015837
  17. Hey Guys... I'm trying to find out about getting some clear/frosted plexiglass caps made up for these pushbuttons: http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?item=PB-125 They feature an internal 3mm LED which should diffuse nice through the plexiglass :)... Inspiration from Axels LC buttons :D Nice Dan
  18. Hey... Have i missed something with regards tp the GPC mode for MBLC. It's transmits the cc's fine when logic is not runnin, but as soon as logic is started the cc's are no longer transmitted - i guess because the lc occupies the whole port... So, is it correct that the gpc layer controls is only useful for when using the box with logic not in use - ie, controlling a standalone vsti or summin...or is there a way of using the box as an LC with logic, and also have access to the GPC cc params? Best Dan

    Meter Bridge

heh, sure - it's just my i havnt been able to get at my web space as my domain is gettin moved, so i cant upload the pics anywhere...i'll could email them i guess... what do u mean by 'mask'? the display panel is just a regular project box, with 2 hollow rods connecting it to to the main case. In these rods are all the wires from the componets in the display box than run down, into the main case where they are then connected to the core etc... The artwork for the display box was just printed off in the inkjet and then i spray mounted some clear acetate over it. i also thought about putting some glass over the display to make it flush with the rest of the panel aswell as give it some protection - but i havnt done this yet...my mind is already pondering a bigger LC+XT+C4 :D Best Dan

    Meter Bridge

Hey Pilo... Yes, as far as I know the meter bars are workin exactly as the normal led rings. I have the ledmeters ready and waiting on a sep core inside my LC, along with the MTC digits and 1 standard slider (assigned to master), havnt set this core up yet tho :P Best Dan Edit: oops, looks like i spoke to soon :P
  22. Great stuff Smash!! 1 Q tho - I already have some toshlink transmitters/receivers for the adat connections - can I use these instead? The cat5 cable/connections ur usin is custom to ur setup no? I mean, how would u connect a custom cat5 (with i guess a rj45 connector) adat cable to a standard toshlink connector used in regular adat connections? Basically i'm hoping I can use this SBlive (pr a few if poss) to rcv 8 chans of digital audio via adat, send the fed audio to the analog outs which would feed outboard gear like comps, limiters etc. This would then be fed back into the sblive ana inputs, which would also be summed to the adat out, for transfer back to the main daw for recording... Confused and excited I am :) Best Dan
  23. yeah, reichelt are cool. I've ordered a few times from em now and the delivery charge is cheaper then getting bits delivered from electronics stores in the UK!! And no-import charges :D
