okay, so i've just learned that I had the circuit wired correctly all this time - it's just as I had nothing connected to the psu circuit (including power led), it meant the +5 would always remain, even when switched off... so after the last few months without any SID, i can now use it again! Thanks Pilo!!! I'd still like to know what that infamous black dot is about tho...;p

Hey Lo... I think ur right - only i thought the tracks connecting the eeprom pins to gnd was a result of over etching or summin, so I just connected after (following pdf) and that is when it worked...:) So, looks like the issue is the eagle brd file... Best Dan

Hey... I like this idea...:) Would it be possible to substitute the LED rings for digits for the encoders in the LC emu (whilst keep the LED Meters)? I'd prefer the maxim IC solution to reduce component brd consumption... I'm guessin it'll be fine to use them - but will need some extra coding in the LC app to convert the data that'd normally go to the LED rings to the 7segment digits instead...right? Any pointers on this....? But then again, with this MBTV can't we just have all data on TV and flik thru pages like TeleText? :P Nice work...!

I couldn't figure it out either :p I've tried the c64 psu circuit as in the pdf on 2 (3 including the first) c64 psu's and everytime - as soon as u switched the circuit on the +5 and +12 are correct, but when i switch it off the +5 stays at +5 and the +12 just drops and stays to +5...:/ Not very helpful to you i know... Dan PS: that black dot by the switch in the pdf still remains a mystery!

dunno if any of u seen this thread: http://www.midibox.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=troubleshooting;action=display;num=1059601633 lists some probs/way i done shit whilst gettin the usb module to work in XP a while back - dunno if it may elp yas... Best Dan

Hey... we're in luck chaps - i just opened one of the faders up and low and behold... we have a touch sensor track! :D just no pin... a result indeed eh :P Peesh Dan

yes, i also found differences between the PDF and the actual firmware :( Guess TK is only human after all!! hoorahh!! :) Best Dan

I programmed the usb module AND use it exclusivly in XP and I had no probs - once all the connections were A-OK the firmware burnt fine, and XP recognised it no prob...

yes, and there's some new faders in town - mentioned these in another thread... www.alltronics.com click on resistors link and take a peep...:) They're only $4.95 each - and it turns out they're Alps...! :P Yum Dan

Hey Steve... I always run the perl script manually from the dos prompt, ie: e:\perl\bin>perl hex2syx.pl main.hex then press enter, it makes the syx file...blah blah blah u know the rest :) 1 thing, with this latest beta LC f/w i cudnt build a hex file in the mplab app - it kept failing, even without editing any files. I had to use the standalone exe app... HTH Dan

Hey TK Awesome work :) I dont think any further fiddling with midi-ox/midiyoke is even needed now. After trying out this new LC firmware, gpc mode seems to be working fine :D Steve, this from io_tables.inc: #define ID_MBLC_SWITCH_GPC 0x95 ; switch to General Purpose Controller mode (like radiobutton) #define ID_MBLC_TOGGLE_GPC 0x96 ; like a "caps lock" key #define ID_MBLC_HOLD_GPC 0x97 ; like a common "shift" key Then when u enter this mode, ur v-pots turn into regular CC controllers and the jogdial allows you to go up or down the CC chain to let u control all 127 cc's from the 8 v-pots :) Best Dan

Hey... Is it possible to change the midi channel the GPC layer sends it CC's via...? I've got round the way to include the GPC feature in logic whilst using it as a LC at the same time, however - when not on the GPC layer and turning the v-pots (in LC mode) i get CC 1 and 65 msgs still - i've filtered out everything except CC's in midi-ox... So all i need now is to setup GPC cc's on it's own midi channel and all will be good :) However, would it be possible to have the button that activates the GPC layer to send a midi msg of some sort at the same time when pressed? Then a switch could be made up in logic, so a sep midi cha for gpc wudnt even be needed :) best Dan

I like eagle - using it on XP here...I've just managed to create my first board even :) prior to eagle, being from design background, I used illustrator and photoshop for pcb work :P

Hey Cem.... What Inverter did u use for EL backlight for these then? I wasn't too sure and have only tested them with no backlight as of yet... For more deals check these two places - both been mentioned here somewhere prior: http://www.bgmicro.com/ 1st page of PDF catalog. I think Pilo has used these successfully with a homebru psu for the backlight. www.pmb.co.nz Found by Ian. Another great deal! Best Dan

I've just left the settings as they came in the LC app zip and it'd seemed to work out okay... Speaking of faders - i stumbled accross these: http://www.alltronics.com/resistors.htm They have motorfaders here for only $4.95 and some nice joysticks for $2.95. I've ordered a single MF to test and also a few joysicks :D...i'll report how the fader is when it arrives.... Best Dan
