MIDIboxes of the Week (MIDIbox64 of Cyril, MIDIbox SID of d2k)
doc replied to TK.'s topic in MIDIbox of the Week
Nice Boxes, respect to both ! -
>>MCLR - 4.3V steady, with or without MCLR Checked in ICProg If I'm right, the voltage should much higher there (about 13.7V). Looks like your JDM is faulty. Doc

Are you sure about the "1047"? On my C64 on the rectifier is +BA20B0C- printed. You can use this rectifier, too. You also can use 4 Diodes 1N4002 or 1N4007. Doc

(Vermutlich Ansichtssache...) Gruß Doc

Sure you'll need another core. 128 DIN is the maximum, I think. Perhaps TK can give you advice on the layer problem. Doc

Hi, a good mixer is not always hard & expensive to build. It depends strongly on what you want (or expect). There are a lot of DIY resources with audio projects. Just take a look at www.ePanorama.net, especially on the following links (mixer): http://www.epanorama.net/links/audiocircuits.html#mixer There you can find a lot of projects. I built a big analog modular mixer several years ago. It was a project called "ESP Audio pages". I don't find the link now. Just surf a little in ePanorama.net . Hope this helps Doc

Hi, I think 2.5mm is not enough. I would say a 3mm minimum if its done in aluminium. doc

Hello MrMucicman, thank you for your comment. yes I know (now) that only one controller is supported. But in a future release of cubase it will be supported. (Don't want to drill again in the near future... ;D) Doc

Not very much information .... Please try the MIDI-Troubleshoot-Guide first, Do it step by step (even if some issues make no sense to you). Hope this helps Doc

Thank you very much Pearl, this explanation was very helpful. In fact I already have the hardware, I build the whole box with 16 Faders. Hoping that someday Cubase is supporting the 8 extension Faders. Until that greatful day I have 2 Boxes in One !?. - don't mind me much. ;D

If I get you right, you want to switch a audio Input signal to two outs via MIDI ? This can be done via a MIDI Box Concept near the MIDIO128 concept on the ucapps pages. You have to use a relais to switch between the audio outs. The relais is then controlled via the Core (via DOUT) and the MIOS Software (or simply with a button). Surely a lot of stuff just to switch ONE Audio port on 2 outs. But you asked ... DOC

Thank you very much, always ready to learn something new! 8) DOC

Hey D2k, what is a "uberl33t" LC ??? Yes I know, that the ledrings can be use. But I thought it is a good idea building both into the case. Who knows what tomorrow comes ... ::) doc

Thank you for the tip. The screw holes must go away there I know. For this I have to change the PCB Layouts again . ;D Doc

Hi everybody, by using some sparetime, I want you to have a look at my "working" layout of my MidiboxLc. The Box will be used with Cubase and I "borrowed" a lot of things from the Mackie Controller and from Axels Midibox of the year. It's not the final version but something near to it. I just put the link here because of the filesize (about 500k). The image is quite noisy because of the high compression (the original file has 30 MB). The original size is 1000 x 440 mm. Any comments are welcome ;D http://www.systemhaus-schneider.de/doc/frontplatte3.jpg Doc

Nochn Versuch ....

Hi, the spacing is (just like mentioned before) 2,54 mm or 0,1 inch. But be careful. For example: A switch is mounted on the pcb. Look where the shaft is. Dependining on how you mount it the space can be 1,27 mm or 0,05 inch ! My tip: Plug the components on your vectorboard without soldering them an then count the "whole" and the "half" holes on your design. Then you can measure the exact inch value for mounting. If you layout your design with the pc, print it out and test it before making the panel ! Hope this helps you Doc

Hello Steven_c, i have looked at Axels Box. But he is using it for logic, I think. My problem is, I don't know exactly wich functions I can leave out (without missing them later ...) on the second one. 8) On the cubase layout you have 8 Buttons for Fader groups (which are controlling 8 Faders each, if I understood the manual right). What is happening now, if I build 2x8 Fader Groups. Am I able to control 16 groups with each 16 Faders or not ??? -or shall I leave it to 8 Fader groups. But can these fader groups then control 16 fader ? You see - a lot of questions by now. Thats why I thougt, I first build a release with a lot of more knobs & leds I'll need. Then I can make a new layout after finding out what is possible or not. Don't know if I'm right. Doc I bought Cubase SL but I haven't installed it yet. I want to get my box ready first. I know this isn't a quite good way. But somewhere I have to start...
-
Thank you, I mean Cubase SL (for the moment...SX perhaps later). I think, if noone knew it better, I build both units in one case. Then I can test it and if it's working I can change the frontpanel again (hard work ... but if theres no other way). Doc

Hello everybody, I'm planing/building a midibox lc like a mackie Universal control with cubase. The pcbs are all ready and now I'm on the "layout" (2xCore, 8xDINx4, 8xDOUTx4, 2xMF, etc...) But 8 Faders are not enough, so I planned it with 16 Faders. Now I have several questions: - Shall I build 2 identical 8 Fader Boxes or can I "combine" both boxes (like the"Midibox of the Year"). If so, shall I use (for example) 16 Buttons for the Fader control section instead of 8 and can the software manage this ? On the other hand: Is it possible to drive 2 MCU clones (on different midi ports of course) on Cubase ? Any suggestions are very welcome ??? ::) Thank you Doc

New York ?????? ...... where is "New York" ....... ? (Go back to your soldering irons ! - Much more effective than a discussion about a logo, isn't it ?) ;) DOC
