I didn't make good experiences with the glue gun. The glue didn't glue very well on Aluminium or metal. If you pull the fixed part you have it back in your hand again .... Perhaps there are other glue sticks that fits better. Do you know one ? greets Doc

usb module stange behavior after disconnecting usb
doc replied to a topic in Testing/Troubleshooting
Hi, I just found a Microsoft Article (Hotfix) for USB under XP. Maybe give it a try ... http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;822603 greets Doc -
Unfortunately I think you'll need the diodes before every switch. Otherwise you connect a whole row every time you press one button (C0 e.g). Just paint the matrix with 2 lines and you'll know what I mean. I know that this is pretty difficult to realise with your keyboard. But maybe Thorsten know a better way to connect your keyboard. Doc

Great ! ;D ...go on and have fun :P Doc

Hi, no connection between Gnd and SC.... I also think it's a short.... Please measure it without the ic's stuffed. Look espec. for solder bridges. Doc

Hi, don't have further information on the zx... ... but the pictures look like a 4 x 10 Matrix. If that is the case you can use it with a matrix. Look here: http://www.midibox.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=mios;action=display;num=1084564072 greets Doc

No, if one button is pressed steady (thats the only way a button can become faulty) all others should work ! Doc

Redesigned MIDIbox of the Year (3xMIDIbox LC of Axel)
doc replied to TK.'s topic in MIDIbox of the Week
@ mm303 Reichelt part Numbers: The switches are from APEM. The switches are modular, so you have to order the case and the switch seperately. There are different forms also available. (see Page 197 of the catalog 7/04). I give you the numbers of the switches I've ordered: switch-block: A01-51B Operator, lightable, momentary : A01-05T Top red: A01-62 rot Top yellow: A01-62 gelb Top green: A01-62 grün Top blue: A01-62 blau bulb 14V: A01-41 14V If you like, for example, the STOP button not as a square (a little larger) then you have to order: Operator: A01-01T Top : A01-61 (+color) The symbols (Play, Stop, Rec, etc.) can easily be printed out on a transparent film (with laser printer) an stucked under the coloured top . greets Doc -
I also used 2 2x40 LCD's. The main reason was the compatibility to the ready LC_application :P Doc

Hi, your on the right way ! It isn't very hard to change the code of the ready applications for your needs. I have no experience with PIC progragramming at all but I managed to build almost everything of the ucapps pages ... It's a little bit hard to get started. But once you done a step you'll find it easier the next time. The code is well documented in the sourcefiles and there are a lot of hints elsewehere and especially in the forum. I suggest you build the modules for a small midibox and connect your buttons, leds, etc "on the fly" and start your application for a test. Everything is modular so that you can reuse all compenents in further steps. In this way you can build the code for your applikation based on a standard one. If you are more experienced you can add all the things you like ! In fact multiple cores aren't harder to do than single ones. The difference is just another ID and an alternative midi-connection (it's well documented). I don't know abelton, but after reading your needs I see no problem with your ideas. Oh. I forgot something ..... ... the high risk of getting addicted .... 8) 8) (Almost no time for something else anymore, no parties, no musik, no women .... but a lot of new friends and some f***ing good controllers !!) .... so be warned ! usb module stange behavior after disconnecting usb
doc replied to a topic in Testing/Troubleshooting
Hi, just to get you right ... I didn't update anything on the MBHP USB Module. I did only updates on the pc side. Latest Bios and the latest drivers for the chipset. The board is a MSI 865PE Neo2-P with an Intel 865PE chipset. XP prof. with Service Pack 1a. I'm not quite sure if these updates alone stoped the error. I also did a new complete installation. The important thing on the new installation was, that I installed XP as a "Standard PC" without those ACPI things (you can do this change only during the setup process of XP, thats why I had to install new). Doing this, you can control the IRQs in a better way. I looked carefulyl that the IRQs for the USB host controller are unique (not shared by other components). The fact is: I don't don't know which of my steps killed the problem exactly. After I had this new system everything worked fine. I know that this not an easy step to take. But in my case I solved this problem and several others (Audio latency, etc...). But there's no guarantee at all ! Doc -
Hi, if your case the MIOS Modifications are surely not the problem... The hardware limitations for one core is: - max 8 Motorfader (and no further pots) - max 4 x DINX4 Moduales (= 128 buttons) (or 64 encoder) - max 4 x DOUT (=128 Leds without matrix) In your case you need 2 Cores with the following components (example): First Core: 1 x MF Module (8 Motorfaders) 4 x DINX4 (=128 Buttons) 4 x DOUTX4 (=128 LEDS for the illuminated buttons) Second Core: - opt. AIN for further Potis - 1 x DINX4 (= 16 Encoder) - 1 x DOUTX4 (=16 Ledrings) 16 lines kathodes and 11 lines anodes Thats almost all ! DOC

Redesigned MIDIbox of the Year (3xMIDIbox LC of Axel)
doc replied to TK.'s topic in MIDIbox of the Week
...I bought my transport knobs from Reichelt. They have usually no LEDs in it (12V bulbs). You can easily drive the bulbs with an ULN - IC (to be found in the MIDIO128 application). Doc -
.... Schnösel gibts hier nicht.... :P und wir haben auch nur EINEN Crack ---> TK ;D (aber der beisst überhaupt nicht, im Gegenteil .....) :-* Doc

Mhhh, still sounds strange..... Several hints (which helped me in my SID projekt a time ago)..... Take a look at your midi cable. 1) Take care that the connections between Core and the midi connector are very short. 2) Disconnect the ground pin from Midi Out on the core (J12). 3) If the connection between Core (J12/J13) and your Midi Connectors are longer than 20cm, use a shielded cable. But don't connect the shield on the connectors, just on the Core Ground (leave the shield connection from the Midi-Connectors open) 4) Perhaps you can test on any ground loops also. Try to 'bundle' your ground connection in a central point. But don't do this at the ground lines of your Pots. I suggest to connect every 8 or 10 pots to a central ground-point. Not all pots on one ground connection. (I think this couldn't be the reason, because you get the events even with no pots connected, right ?) Please keep in mind, that these hints are jut suggestions on what I would do (or try)... Hope it helps ... Doc

Hi, just to get it right... You mean 2200uF ... not nF, or ? Doc

Hi, Do you have open Ports on the AIN Module ? - If yes - clamp them to ground. Just for a test: Do you get random events also, if you disconnect the AIN Module ? greets DOC

Hi, there are nice kits available from velleman. http://www.velleman-kit.com A good adress for DIY is also: http://www.ePanorama.net If you build it your own: Please don't forget a galvanic seperation from your pc ! Otherwise you kill him with any voltage over 5V ::) Doc

Hi Majo, you probally made something wrong with the update, because the package in the download section is the right one. You must get MIOS 1.7 after a correct upload. Please check it again. Doc

usb module stange behavior after disconnecting usb
doc replied to a topic in Testing/Troubleshooting
I also noticed some strange behaviour with my four USB Midi devices on XP some time ago. I think it's a microsoft problem in combination with several chipsets. If you disconnect a USB-Audiodevice which was proberly mounted before in any applikation you won't get this device to work again in the same session. Normally you have to do a reboot so that xp can re-adress the device in the registry. In my case I did an update on the system-board device drivers (Intel Chipset) which solved the problem. I read somewhere that there are several chipsets which have problems with USB devices. For example VIA. Which chipset has your computer ? Do you plug the device directly in the USB plug or do you have any USB hub between it ? Doc
