How long ago was that? I live in Australia and I know that sometimes shipping so far can be hard (would be way worse if I was in say, Serbia...not mentioning any names) ... but I try not to make it someone else's problem, unless they offer first. Maybe you should do the same ;)

Most of that stuff makes little difference... maybe the casing could be of use, maybe ram is dead but individual IC's or OK, etc... you never know what half-working machine some geek has, and what parts he needs to complete it ;) But... Trash it! ;D

The fact that it doesn't always stop in the same place has me wondering if you have a power supply issue... I'd be checking that voltage, and solder joints, and the internal voltages too... Good luck mate :)

Is the 8V enough to drive the rectifier and vreg? I've found that my cores like a fraction more than that... I generally give it 8.6 to be sure that it'll work...

Fast enough :) You can change the update speed so it's up to you. Only if you press them really fast! See above. A slight increase but nothing that should stop the rest of your app from fitting. Go with the matrix.
