  3. Why going to the university to study psychology? By reading and analyzing all these replies before and after the "turn over", one can find out so much about the psyche of the human being. :o - Very amusing @Wilba: You should think about building up a sect... e.g. the "Holy-SID-Disciples". You would have the talent to make a lot of money as the sect's guru. :D Greets, Roger
  4. ... 9652 verkaufen und MADI-Karte kaufen. Damit solltest Du locker 1km machen.
  5. ... just use the encoder's ground pin not for ground, but to connect to your touch sense input (certainly a conductive knob is needed). Any encoder with metal shaft should basically work. If you don't handle the sensing in the PIC, you can use e.g. http://www.qprox.com/assets/Downloadablefile/qt102_2r3.05-15437.pdf Greets, Roger
  6. ... not necessarily, if you stick to the original design ... best practice. You can deside later, on what app you wanna go.
  7. ... if you stick to the original design, you don't need any programming knowledge and even if you do small changing, it's not really programming, more like configuring on text basis. ... you can add a GM5 MIDI/USB module. So from the outside of the finished box, it's connected to USB ... elctricity? - There is no H2 engine developed yet... but who knows ;) Check ucapps.de/MidiBoxLC for all those details. - It requires some reading to understand the system and then, most of the question you will have, will be answered. 8. Everybody can set points... so it seems that they're missing the points of each other :D
  9. ... did I make a statement on what the anomaly of water is? :o But what you write is not exactly true. It is true, that this happens but only by further cooling below about 70K. - But this is minimal. Above about -200°C, ice is behaving like most other solid materials. Getting a lower density by cooling further below melting point, happens only by applying pressure and lowering the melting point by that.
  10. Wrong! Water is the only well known substance behaving this way... in the last 10 to 20 years, other anomaly behaving substances have been discoverd (I think it wa about 3 or 4 other ones). Greets, Roger Edit: Typos

  12. Search the forum, there already is a thread about this. As far as I can remember, the problem was using it in a matrix and scan all the LEDs in a reasonable time. Greets, Roger
  13. ... and when you have spent some more time with your new hobby, you'll find out that you don't really need the master fader for recording/mix down. Your 8 faders are better "invested" by using them for your channels. And when once you really need a master fader, you always can switch your banks all the way to the end and have the master on your faders (depending on your host application). Greets, Roger
  14. ... how about conductive plastic, like most pro-mixers have? ;)
  16. ... absolutely! ... I have no problem with controlling plugs by mouse on the project screen. If one is mixing for a living, he normally uses a decent mixer. If I work with a Studer Vista console, I really won't use plugs on EQs and dynamics while mixing, and that's where channel alignment and controls-layout familiarity is exactly what I need. ... always depends what your app needs Greets, Roger
  17. Nothing really new... ain't you guys go to audio fairs/shows? :D http://www.studer.ch/pdf/brochures/(1)%20Vista5%20SR%20brochure_lowres.pdf http://www.soundcraftdigital.com/downloads/downloadfile.aspx?id=56 Greets, Roger
  18. Sorry, I don't have enough time to check the datasheets right now, but so far I can tell you, that Pin9 on the 74HC is one of the serial outputs and not an input. Greets, Roger Perhaps I fill find the time to check the datasheets, later tonight when I got home.
  19. ... I think this won't be possible without programming. But hey... what you don't know, you can learn ;) Switching whole layers wouöd be implemented in MidiBox 64 and can be edited without really having to program. I don't see, why getting a feedback from Ableton should be a problem. I don't know Ableton at all but from what I read in this forum, this should work and configuring the DOUTs can't be called programming. Greets, Roger
  20. ... why not? Switches described as below will be more expensive. ...it's probably the worst way to go and it contains higher risk of inconsistency. - I still don't see why you don't wanna use momentary switches with software controlled status feedback by LEDs. ... do you want to switch in layers or does every Pot shall have it's own function switch? Greets, Roger
  21. ... but the price for this pretty common knob is not very common! - That's fu...g cheep for a collet knob.
  22. ... depends on your host software. Sequoia can do it. - There are many hosts, which extend the Mackie protocol to their need. Greets, Roger
