  1. well at least at that size, it will fit anywhere.. who's sid synth design are they using?
  2. Its a 5V regulator that can take a high input voltage efficiently so you can use a single 12V DC supply (or a 15V if you want +12 regulated rails) to power the whole thing instead of the the c64 supply. It uses the existing power components on the board, just wired differently.
  3. I used the V but use the H since I had to yoga the legs to get it to lay flat
  4. The only thing that was added was two jumper wires. I'll try to do up a wiring diagram/pic
  5. Thats how I see it. There are ones on ebay also. These switch so fast than any ripple is eaten up by the smoothing caps
  6. So I have always wondered how to effectively move away from the C64 PSU and I have recently been turned on to switching 5V regulators as a good way to deal with high voltage drops that would normally get a 7805 blazing hot. What I am using is a TI PT78ST105 regulator. Not the cheapest thing in the world but its a brilliant piece of kit. I have tested it with 5V 1.5 amp load being fed a 18V DC input voltage and the thing barely gets luke warm. I ran the same test with a 78S05 (the 2 amp one) and it overheated and shut down in seconds. Pretty nifty. The way I have that box configured is the switching reg is face down (the black little thing next to the 7809) and is fed from a 12V DC adapter. Rewiring is kept to a minimum by wiring by just patching the output back to the normal 5V line and removing the rectifier and bridging. With everything stuffed and 8 8580s installed (and the fan running) I was drawing 800 mA total so I am using a 1A 12V DC supply to run everything. No noise at all to suggest there is a switching vReg there and in fact, background noise sounds better than the C64 brick I was using previously. The result:

    MBHP AOUT NG 09

Should have done that SMD part first..
  8. last call. if you have not replied to my PMs, i am assuming you are not participating
  9. I am not in Europe so I cannot deal directly with Sifam, just their US distributor so anything you see on the Sifam site does not really apply (other than what style knobs the have). http://catalog.selcoproducts.com/category/conventional-push-on-knobs I put a request in for a list of whats in stock so we dont have to do this "do they have this or that?" thing anymore
  10. DSL: I'll email them and see if they have those. I'll just ask what they have in D shaft so I dont have to keep emailing them Kroutshev: Not sure where you read that, I am dealing with Sifam's distributor in the US (Selco Products). Anything that they do not have in inventory (which is pretty limited by the looks of it) is a special order item with a 500 or 1000 piece minimum order and 10 week lead time
  11. DRN110 are available, all the other stuff is special order other than what I mentioned above
  12. kroutshev, Please read my post about what they have stocked, none of the items you indicated are in stock and require a 500 pcs minimum order
  13. Ok ppl I'd like to get these ordered this week, I'll be sending individual PMs with your totals today.
  14. well since this is coming up again and I am working on my MB6582, I know that I'll be looking at hawkeyes custom driver to try to get the Newhaven part working. It does not work as it is..
  15. I'm assuming they are D shaft. The colors she says they have is gray/black/aqua and gray/black/yellow the 3/04 parts they have limited stock of are $0.75 ea BOTH the DR110 and DRN110 parts are 0.58 ea plus 0.33 for the cap
  16. Ok, Here is the scoop: "Selco only has stock on one part no. in the 3/04 series. It is 3/04DRP110-006, gray body, black pointer, line at 90 degrees from flat. We have an obsolete trio knob that has three colors- gray/black/aqua or gray/black/yellow. DRN110-006 is in stock. DR111 gray and black are not in stock. C111 caps in all colors are in stock." They have the DR110 006 and all color caps 0,58$ for the knob 0,33$ for the cap And they have these things for 0.50$ ea
  17. Alright, Just sent the RFQ. I'll just post their reply in the thread instead of PMing everyone..
  18. you will need to chop the pot shafts on the x0x regardless..

Yes! You read my mind with the backlit buttons, totally the direcion I am headed as well.
  21. ya'll have motivated me. I'll get the RFQ together this weekend..
  22. Revising those lengths (i was guessing from memory earlier) Original bad length: 38 cm New good length: 17 cm I was using a 32 gauge grey ribbon cable that I use for everything so that may be in play also. Will go to something a little better for the final assembly for sure (I'm quite fond of SmashTV's ribbon cable)
  23. The TL084 has better DC performance (low offset) and the TL074 has better noise/distortion performance. Working length was ~ 10" (from ~2 ft)
  24. you rock man. It was the cable length. I left it extra long for debugging purposes, when I chopped it down it started talking to the DAQ chip. It did NOT work at 3.3V but sprang to life at 5. I can totally see why you are using the buffer with your external box now.. On a side note, is there any particular reason TL074s are used here? I've been under the impression that TL07x are well suited for audio and TL08x are better for CVs.. Cheers!
